Frequently asked questions about renting a holiday home in Italy

Booking your holiday home in Italy could not be easier!  Search our listings to find the ideal place for your stay. Enter your dates to leave out properties that are not available. You can use filters to further restrict the list to those holiday homes that have the required amenities (tip: you can even enter how many separate beds you need for your group -- that's an amazing time-saver!)

Once you have found a suitable property, press the green button in order to make a booking -- that's all it takes. As your reservation is confirmed, we will take care of processing your payment. Choose to pay by credit card, or by bank transfer, as you prefer. Either way your payment will be handled professionally.

No! There are no hidden booking fees when you rent from SummerInItaly.com. All you pay is the rental price, as indicated on the rate schedule for the villa of your choice, and, for some of the villas, some local costs. Costs to be paid locally are clearly indicated, and they are confirmed to you in writing, so that when you are arrive at your villa there are no misunderstandings nor nasty surprises.

Indeed, yes. We work directly with individual private property owners, and are able to offer you a best price guarantee.

Yes! We are usually able to arrange check-in and check-out on any day of the week. Some villas do have specific minimum stay requirements: just enter your travel dates on the villa search page and we will show you all that is available. Also, we will be happy to provide a personal quote if you happen to like a place that normally you would not be able to book for your choice of dates.

We love to bring you the good news: just a single e-mail will do. Your request is received by our staff, who is knowledgeable about all the apartments that we represent, and can help you choose the best one for your needs - and even suggest some that you might not have noticed at first.

No problem! Each property will welcome up to the advertised number of guests. You can always add more names at later times, as long as the number of sleeping places shown on the description of the property is not exceeded.

Yes, in the unfortunate situation where you need to cancel your stay, we are able to provide a refund based on the cancellation policy that is displayed on the booking page. Guests are strongly advised to consider signing up for a third-party travel insurance or for our rental rescheduling insurance.

We do. A rental rescheduling insurance is available in case an unexpected change of plans forces you to move your booking to a different date. It can be requested at the time of your booking.

Once your reservation is paid in full, we will send you a rental voucher, along with all the information you need to reach the property or a nearby meeting point. There you will find the property owners or the local manager, who will show you around the place and will hand you the keys.

If there is any problem with the property, you can call either us or the property owner. While you stay in one of our properties we are always available, and provide you with a dedicated local phone number where our agents can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All you need to do is let us know you need us!

The opening season of the outdoor facilities varies for each rental home, and is noted on the property description. If the property description does not report a specific opening season, assume that the swimming pools open at the beginning of July and close by the end of August. This is, however, a very restrictive statement: please check with our staff, as in nearly all cases the opening period is much longer. If your planned stay happens to be on the edges of the swimming pool operational season, and you wish to be sure that the swimming pool is open while you are at the property, do be in touch to let us know (ideally before your reservation is confirmed).

The availability of the outdoor facilities is seasonal, often connected to the weather conditions. Advertised outdoor activities and facilities (boat tours, beach facilities, horse riding and so on...) might not be available at all times, especially during the low season, or in case of bad weather. If there is something that really matters to you we kindly ask to check with us before your reservation is confirmed. We want to make sure that your expectations are met, but for that to happen we must be aware of what your expectations are!

Yes, linens and towels are always provided. Pillows and blankets are also always available. Washcloths or mitts are very rare in Italy.

Kitchens are always well equipped and in working order. Dishes, glasses and eating utensils for at least the number of people the property sleeps are always included. Usually there is an Italian coffee machine (called "moka"). If you have special requests for the kitchen or you want to know exactly how the kitchen is equipped please contact us. We visit every property and can be of great help. Check the amenities list for each property to see whether a dishwasher and washing machine are available. Dryers are very rare in Italy: we have the sun!!

Italian appliances might work a bit differently than the appliances found in other countries. In Italy you will find gas stoves, rather than electric stoves, sometimes with a glass cover that needs to be lifted before you light the flame. It is always a good idea to ask the property owner, at the time of checking into the property, how to use the washing machine and the coffee pot.

Many holiday homes require a security deposit to be provided at check-in, to cover accidental damage to the property. If there is no damage, the owners will return the security deposit to you in full. At check-out, please kindly inform the owners of any breakage. If you wish, you can also consult with us during your stay, and we will inform the owners.

Please contact us! We will gladly answer all of your questions!
