Absolutely idyllic

October 2024 - Absolutely idyllic. The villa is a tranquil resting space, with phenomenal views of Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius and the bay of Naples.

The walk into town is down hill and coming back up, particularly with groceries can be challenging - but we saw it as a way of burning off the calories after eating beautiful food in the wonderful eateries in Sorrento.

We would recommend this exceptional place to couples who enjoy walking and outstanding views under the beautiful Sorrento sunshine, and near to excellent food, wine and lovely people.

We wanted to let the owner know what a wonderful place and experience we have had. Thank you so much for our stay and for enabling the extra couple of nights in the villa. The lovely card from you and the dogs, as well as the food and wine were very much appreciated!

We came across Summer In Italy via Google and they were outstanding. In contact regularly near to our arrival and everything went perfectly to plan. When we wanted to extend our stay, they came back to us.

Travel tips

  • There are a number of ways of travelling from Naples airport. On the day we arrived there was a train strike and the ferry was not running. So we arranged private transfer, it was €200 but well worth it after a day of travel. We were also able to arrange this for return travel too - adds to costs but does give peace of mind. And on arrival it avoids negotiating the hill / steps from the port or trying to buy bus tickets - which were often hard to come by!
  • If you do get a taxi back from Sorrento try to agree price before. We were charged varying prices on the two occasions when we used the taxi.

Very much enjoyed our stay!

July 2024 - We very much enjoyed our recent stay! My husband and I spent the month of July in Italy for our honeymoon and finished it off with a one week stay in Sorrento and it was our favorite part of the whole trip.

Easy access to town, but you still get some privacy and quiet. The views are incredible! We decided before we even left that we would be staying again. However, we decided we would definitely get a car next time. The trip down hill to town is very easy but coming back up (especially in the summer heat) can be a lot.

First class amenities, stunning view and beautiful surroundings

May 2024 - Villino Clizia offers a stunning view of Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius and the entire bay of Naples. The surroundings are beautiful and relaxing as we spent many hours on the terrace enjoying wine and snacks. The amenities are first class and it is perfectly appointed.

Travel tips

  • You will definitely want to rent a small car to go downtown to Sorrento and back.

Absolutely fabulous location, view, pool and privacy

September 2023 - I cannot rate this villa highly enough. Absolutely fabulous location, view, pool and privacy.

Always good service and communications from Summer In Italy. We would always come to you.

Travel tips

  • A car is a must, but not too large as the parking space is limited.
  • As well as Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, the towns of the peninsular are worth a visit for shopping and restaurants: Massa Lubrense, Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi et al.

Exceeded all expectations

October 2022 - We thought that the pictures looked pretty good but were blown away by the actual site and arrangements. Spectacular views from the decks and fantastic bird sounds on the aviary like surroundings.

Claudio spoke great English and was willing to do whatever was needed to assure us that our stay was pleasant.

Our stay was a highlight of our month's visit to Italy.

October 2022 - This was our third visit to Villino Clizia. We keep coming back because the house location is fabulous. There are very few one bedroom villas with a pool. Absolutely ideal for a couple.

We have used Summer In Italy several times and always find them friendly, helpful and efficient.

Travel tips

  • A car is a must as the villa is some way out of Sorrento by road, not too large as the gated parking space is quite short.
  • As well as Sorrento (use the parking above the Ulysses hotel) we use Massa Lubrense for shopping.
  • The Sorrento peninsular is well worth exploring, in addition to the obvious destinations on the Amalfi Coast and Capri.

The villa was amazing!!

September 2022 - The villa was amazing!! We would not change a thing.

View was spectacular. You can't tell from the pictures. We did not realize it was two floors and loved how it was separated with the kitchen upstairs and bedroom, living room and bathroom downstairs. The pool was fabulous. It felt like our own hideaway up on the cliff. We would like to move there!

Not one thing that needs to be changed. The added touches of wine and food was great. Claudio [the caretaker] was amazing answered all of our questions.

Very easy to book and great communication, Summer In Italy always replied back with any answers that I had.

Travel tips

  • We had a car, but used the taxi service often, so we did not have to find parking.
  • Also we walked down the path to town which was a nice walk with the view and olive trees. We had read it was a long walk, however we strolled down and it probably was about 20 mins downhill.
  • Lots of shopping in Sorrento.
  • It is easy to hop a ferry to Capri, Positano, Amalfi, etc.
  • We did hire a private boat Quality Time Days with Capt. Giovanni Celetano for the day it was first class by far the best, we even ended up going out with him 4 days later for just sunset.
  • Restaurant Il Buco and Restaurant L’Antica Trattoria the top two restaurants in Sorrento hands down amazing, however lots of very good restaurants.

Just the most beautiful spot with a fabulous view

September 2022 - Just the most beautiful spot with a fabulous view. The house provides all that two people could want and the staff are so friendly. We loved the swimming pool.

We used Summer In Italy before and we had a good experience, which was repeated this time. You will hear from us again!

Travel tips

  • I would really recommend that you have a car (only a small one, the parking spot is short). Even if you only use it for trips into Sorrento and the local peninsular, it is so much easier than relying on public transport.

Villino Clizia was wonderful

June 2022 - Villino Clizia was wonderful - one of the best places we have ever stayed in anywhere. The grounds, outdoor space, and view of Sorrento are unsurpassed and the villa is comfortable and well equipped. The property is exceptionally well maintained.

Summer In Italy was terrific and I would use its services again.

Enjoyed

July 2019 - We enjoyed Villino Clizia but expected to enjoy it given the price we paid to rent it.

The positive points:

- the villa is located in a quiet private gated cul-de-sac and there is off-street parking;

- the garden is beautiful;

- the view from the outdoor terrace of Sorrento town and Mount Vesuvius is superb;

- the air conditioning is excellent;

- the bedroom / lounge area is modern and comfortable;

- the villa is very well maintained by on-site caretakers;

- the villa is close enough (30 mins) to walk to Sorrento albeit the hill climb is only for the fit;

- the no.1 Sorrento restaurant is a 6 min walk;

- the owner provides an excellent welcome pack of wine, beer, cheese, meats, fruit, milk, yoghurt, bottled water, coke and jams.

The negative points:

- the pool is too cold and is located on the other side of the villa;

- the kitchen is very small and no microwave or washing machine;

- the shower cubicle is very small.

Travel tips

  • Don't buy too many groceries as the owner provides a welcome pack.

May 2019 - Villino Clizia is a great honeymoon villa, ideal for two people. Located high on a mountain top overlooking all of Sorrento, the bay and Naples coastline and Mount Vesuvius. The grounds are beautiful and the swimming pool is super clean.

Massimiliano is your greeter, very helpful and speaks good English. He is always available to assist in your needs...

You guys were great!!! This was our second booking with Summer In Italy.

Travel tips

  • There is a pathway approx. 200 yards where you can hike into town. You can walk from the villa to Piazza Tasso (in the center) in 30 minutes. If you are a hiker and like going up and down the mountain the walk is great and you can even buy groceries at the end of your descent. I'm 74 years old and I did it every day and I loved it!!!
  • There is also a Sita bus stop (200 yards) if you prefer to ride into town.
  • From Piazza Tasso (in the center) you can take the Sita bus to get anywhere on the Almafi coastline or you can take a ferry.

September 2018 - It was the most perfect holiday villa, everything was just wonderful.

Massimiliano, the villa manager, was extremely helpful, attentive, courteous and kind.

Your service was great, thank you.

Travel tips

  • You really need a car. Every day we saw residents of the nearby hotels waiting for a bus, while we cruised past in our car. This means you have to deal with parking and you normally have to pay, but once you get used to this having a car is fine.
  • The villa gave easy access to the peninsula, the Amalfi coast as well as Sorrento.
  • Food shops in Sorrento were great, also Massa Lubrense.
  • The Circumvesuviana train made visiting Pompei easy and cheap.
  • We would advise keeping away from Naples.

June 2018 - We stayed at the Villino Clizia which was easily one of THE most amazing places I have ever stayed. The villa was simply perfect, and kept to the highest standard.

The staff working at the villa were incredibly kind and thoughtful - nothing was too much for them. The welcome that they gave us, the local recommendations and the support throughout our stay was truly remarkable.

We had an amazing and perfect time Villino Clizia.

Thank you so much for helping to arrange our recent holiday to Sorrento and for making it possible for us to stay there. We are very grateful.

The support given by the team at Summer In Italy is worth noting - the staff were all incredibly helpful and courteous. I will have be recommending both your company and the villa to EVERYONE I know and will have no second thoughts in using your team again. Once again - many thanks.

Travel tips

  • Ask Massimiliano [the caretaker] for walking directions to the local cove - well worth a visit. Very beautiful.

Amazing pool and property

May 2017 - Villino Clizia has the best vantage point in the town for views of the area. Amazing pool and property. Kitchen is well equipped and accommodations were quiet, comfortable and clean. Used wood fired BBQ almost every evening for dinner to make use of the spectacular patio with the view.

We were very impressed, corresponding with Summer In Italy was easy and informative.

Travel tips

  • Bus system is unreliable, end up with long waits at bus stop (sometimes not showing up). Having a small car might be useful.
  • It's a good 20min walk down to town but the walk up (though good for you!) on a switch back road can be a challenge at the end of the day.
  • Get you into the amazing, well maintained pool for a cool down.
  • Fish market and butcher at this end of town was handy for BBQ dinners (have to time it well for the afternoon siesta).

It was just as pretty as the photos!

April 2017 - We loved the privacy, the beautiful grounds and of course the stunning view. It was just as pretty as the photos! Loved it. We highly recommend it.

We stayed the last week of April 2017. Perfect weather. Slightly chilly but really nice in the afternoon.

We had attentive service and guidance on local things to try.
