Gorgeous villa with amazing views
May 2024 - Villa Sultana was absolutely gorgeous, with amazing views and wonderful rooms. It can be a bit hard to get to, but the view is worth it.
The management is also very responsive and accommodating, shout out especially to Pascal for the warm welcome!
Travel tips
- Rifugio dei Mele and Santa Croce are 2 great restaurants within walking distance of the villa in Nocelle, would recommend!

Quiet, with amazing views
July 2023 - A very quiet place which has amazing views. The only real drawback is the distance to Positano which although close takes 20 minutes to reach.
The staff is very responsive and helpful.

You won’t be disappointed.
October 2022 - The photos don’t do this property justice. It truely is wonderful. You won’t be disappointed.
We travelled as 2 families of 3 - 2 adults and 1 child each. There was more than enough room and we each “had our own space”. The rooms (4) are a fabulous size - all with their own bathrooms. Open, light filled and with amazing views. The 5th room is nice, but it is in the downstairs area, and doesn’t have the windows of the other rooms. The bathrooms were stocked with shampoo, soaps, gel etc. And our towels and linens were changed daily. In fact the entire property was serviced every day!!
The kitchen had all the necessities we needed, but given the amazing restaurants, it didn’t get a lot of use. Yes, the property is slightly remote, but most restaurants in the area will provide a car service to pick up and drop off - easy.
The villa is not “in the thick of it” - which we loved. There were so many tourists in the main towns and restaurants- it was nice to be away from it. But you do need to be organised if you want to go to Positano (short drive) or any other town. There is a bus service that works most days (hourly). You can walk (1500 steps down) and then along the road, but it depends on how keen you are. Or €50-€60 by taxi. The bus is generally ok though. And from the Villa to the pick up point it is a number of steps steps up - given the food that we consumed, we needed the steps.
Having a pool on the property was also lovely - it was a little cold though. It was really nice to sit by at the end of the day and enjoy the sunset. As well as sit around it with a traditional antipasto meal over lunch. And if we forgot anything, there is a tiny market a couple of minutes walk from the villa - that has everything.
It is a lovely property and truely contributed to the experience we had.
Travel tips
- If you are into walking, the “Path of the Gods” access is at your door step. It is wonderful.
- There is a tiny market a couple of minutes walk from the villa that has everything.

Like no other
October 2022 - Villa Sultana is like no other property I've stayed at to date. Everyone in our entourage had comfortable accommodations! Everything from the mountainous view from the villa's pool to the charm of the villa itself was breathtaking.
Nocelle is a small village directly above Positano, in the mountains, so a 25 minute bus ride down the mountain will get you in to town. We enjoyed the experience because it felt very Italiano authentic and made us appreciate the hustle and bustle of our daily lives in the USA.
I definitely recommend to anyone Villa Sultana as a part of your stay in Positano. However, if you have elderly people in your party, make sure they can endure walking and staircase climbing. The villa is in the mountains so you definitely need to be prepared for uneven ground. Other than that, you will LOVE it!

Comfortable villa with the best views
September 2022 - The villa is in a secluded village just above Positano with the best views we experienced during our time in the Amalfi Coast. Our family of 7 were very comfortable and very much enjoyed the luxurious amenities yet quaint and quiet surroundings.
We had a car which made easy for transportation to other towns and sight seeing. I could not have imagined staying at a better place.
Be prepared for a lot of walking and stairs along the way. Also upon arrival and departure we were surprised to see donkeys being used as bellhops.
This will forever be a memorable, beautiful trip for my family!
Travel tips
- The tiny local market in Nocelle was very convenient for fresh local grown fruits and vegetables, groceries and even wine during our stay at the villa.

If you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place that can fit up to 10 people it's the place you want
August 2022 - We loved staying and the villa. If you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place that can fit up to 10 people it's the place you want.
It's in a remote area and not easy to get to if you have any problems walking. You can get a taxi, bus or car service to take you to Positano. You really can't walk to the beach...
The property manager meet us when we arrived. He was extremely helpful planing our activities and meals! I would recommend the villa.
Travel tips
- There are two great restaurants right near the villa and a market. The two restaurants are really good.
- One night we had a chef come and cook us dinner and we had a great night!
- We did rent a boat for the day and I highly recommend doing that!

The view of a lifetime
July 2022 - Staying at this villa could not have been more perfect. It is absolutely the most beautiful place we have ever stayed in our lives. If you are looking for the view of a lifetime look no further. The villa is absolutely amazing, impeccably clean and perfect for a couple. I would highly Villa Sultana when staying in Positano/Nocelle area.
Travel tips
- The walk to Positano was 30 min down the stairs and 45 back up, otherwise a couple times we walked down and arranged a taxi back up for a reasonable rate. Also there is a shuttle bus that runs every hour between the two stops.

A truly special property, views were amazing!
August 2019 - A truly special property, views were amazing! Location was quiet, and at the top of the hill located by the "Path of the Gods". A local restaurant and small market within walking distance were each convenient and quite pleasant each in their own way. The property was extremely well maintained, daily maid service was exceptional, and overall we would highly recommend.
Everything was top notch, no issues.
Everything went very well with Summer In Italy, with no issues. Great experience overall!
Travel tips
- Convenient and regular bus service to downtown Positano was easy to navigate and a lot easier than to make the drive itself. It is within walking distance of the villa.
- The Path of the Gods was a nice hike with some beautiful views which was literally across from the villa gate.
- A short 4 minute bus ride to Restaurant La Tagliata should not be missed, family style, never ending good food, with great service and views. Suggest a reservation depending on timing of visit.

Everything was perfect!
July 2019 - Villa Sultana is a beautiful property high up the hill above Positano with the most amazing view and pool area! We loved our stay there and felt like we were living with the locals.
Travel tips
- There is a small market and a nice, family owned restaurant just steps away.
- While they recommend having a car, I would highly recommend using the buses. It's only about $2 per person and much easier than navigating the narrow roads. Plus you won't have to look for parking spots, which are hard to find.
- If you drive, be prepared to squeeze through very tight spots high up on a cliff and to back up at times to let another car through. Unless you are used to driving in Italy, take the bus ($2) or a taxi! Both are very easy to catch.

Absolutely stunning
June 2019 - Fantastic villa in Nocelle. The villa is absolutely stunning with fantastic views of Positano and the sea.
The outdoor space is great with a beautiful infinity pool, plenty of lounge chairs and a dining table.
The inside of the villa was great as well. All four bedrooms in the main house are large with beautiful balconies that overlook the water.
The staff were wonderful as well.
The only drawback of the villa is it's proximity to Positano. It is a 30-minute bus ride from Positano which comes about once an hour. You can walk down the steps as well but that took us about 45- 60 minutes, or take a cab for about 40 Euros. Therefore once we were out for the day we typically didn't go back and forth due to the distance. The spectacular views and the quiet town of Nocelle make it worth the distance.
Overall it is an amazing villa and a highlight of our trip.
Summer In Italy was excellent. They answered my questions promptly before booking, were helpful during the planning process and during our stay. I would highly recommend Summer In Italy.
