Excellent

October 2007 - We both enjoyed Villa Saveria D very much. The instructions to find it were excellent. It was centrally located... so we could do day trips to all the beautiful sites in Tuscany.

Because it was October, there were not a lot of rooms booked... at one point I think we were the only people there.... so it was very peaceful.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and tastefully decorated. It was pretty much as expected and as seen on line.

The reception (Mara) was terrific... a lovely lady who gave us hints to all the tops spots to see around the area.

It was a great experience .... thanks to the Summer In Italy staff as well for all their assistance. We will certainly recommend the services of Summer in Italy.

In all it was a very soul enriching holiday... my eyes grew tired from all the beauty. Everyone should spend some time in Italy.

Travel tips

  • Get directions to a COOP... or grocery store... we got lost on that one...
  • Make sure that you do the scenic route... highway 438 to Asciano and the Abbey... it was spectacular !!
  • San Gimignano was our favourite place in all of Italy... a must to see...
  • Assisi was beautiful and Monteriggioni was a must as well.
  • Touring through the Chianti region also provided some breath-taking scenery.... we tried several wines, we tried several different cheeses, we ate the pasta... and I loved Zuccotto... mmmmm
  • We also found the highways to be in great shape and very well signed.

Excellent

June 2007 - Overall we were very happy. It was an great week and very family friendly. We really liked meeting other families with children and sharing tips throughout the week.

The location was very central to a number of easy day trips, Pisa, Assisi. The directions were right on and Signora Lorella [the caretaker] was very helpful.

The pool was great!

We really did not want to stay in a hotel in a typical tourist location so this was wonderful.

Any time you can do business with Summer In Italy it is always good. The website was an excellent representation of the accommodations. Now you need some property in Puglia for our next trip.

Travel tips

  • One thing that was a bit of a problem was the local supermarkets did not take Visa or AMEX credit cards so we were a little tight on cash. I would warn future guests to not count on their credit cards too heavily. The only market we found that did take Visa or AMEX was in San Gimignano.
  • I would recommend guest stay two weeks and take in as many of the local towns as possible. Volterra was a gem.
  • The refrigerators were small, so don't load up on too many things before you arrive.
