Perfect for our group
June 2023 - This villa was perfect for our group of 6 adults. We spent many evenings on the terrace enjoying the incredible view.
The kitchen was well-equipped for what we needed. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and exactly as pictured.
Luca was very helpful and knowledgeable. Everything was very well-explained up front. No surprises. Highly recommend.

Amazing views, ample bedrooms and lots of large shared spaces
June 2022 - Villa Olivella was perfect for our family vacation on the Amalfi Coast. The views from the large terrace were amazing. Ample bedrooms for each family member and lots of large shared spaces inside and out for the family to enjoy together.
Mr. Luca [the property manager] was awesome. He helped us arrange a boat tour to Capri and was always available to provided us with any information we needed.
Loved Summer In Italy. Easy and prompt communication. We booked Villa Olivella for the shared gathering spaces in the home and on the terrace for our family and multiple bedrooms for each family member to have their own space. It was exactly what we were looking for, perfect!
Travel tips
- Restaurants, a market, the beach and a bus stop are all within walking distance.
- Bring bug repellent and citronella candles for the terrace.

June 2022 - Loved our stay... our property manager Luca was very helpful... we want to go back.
There was great communication all the way which is essential. Keep up the good work!
Travel tips
- The Costa Diva Ristorante nearby was very pretty but the food and service was mediocre.
- Ristorante Da Armandino in Praiano beach is excellent.

The villa is amazing and in a fantastic location of Praiano
October 2019 - The villa is amazing and in a fantastic location of Praiano. Close to restaurants and market for food. The bus to get to other towns on the Amalfi Coast was just up the road.
Villa Olivella had private space for all four couples traveling. Two beautiful terraces to relax on and have dinners. The villa is old but has lots of character. I loved that we had a great place to stay in and it was not in the busy part of the Amalfi Coast like Positano or Amalfi.
Luca [the caretaker] was an amazing host and helped us organize a charter boat and recommended places to shop (he even did some shopping for us to get local chicken and beef).
Great service from Summer In Italy. They were really responsive in answering my questions. Also the links for transportation were great as well. I would highly recommend using Summer In Italy to book places in Italy.
Travel tips
- Market at the top of the hill was fantastic, go early to get the fresh produce. There are 70 steps from the road down to the villa, and the market is up a hill -- great way to stay in shape while on holiday.
- We did the Path of the Gods which is not an easy hike - most of it is up stairs and hills. Amazing views!

Excellent location with outstanding views
September 2018 - Villa Olivella is in an excellent location with outstanding views and outside terraces, which we spent the majority of our time. A restaurant and the bus stop were very close by too! I would recommend Villa Olivella!
Luca, the caretaker met us and was helpful in acclimating us with the villa and surroundings. He directed us to the nearest grocery store, and even drive our groceries to the villa!
Travel tips
- Get bug spray for the outdoors.
- The Open Gate Restaurant down the road has great food.
- Walk down to Restaurant Il Pirata for an amazing view and some beach time!
- Sita buses can run ahead or behind schedule - so allow a time range when traveling.
- We visited Ravello, Amalfi, Positano, Pompeii, and Capri - and loved our visits!!!

Views are absolutely amazing
September 2018 - Villa Olivella is an amazing villa furnished with beautiful old artifacts and art. The views are absolutely amazing and we are so please you recommend Praiano to us as this is a beautiful little village set apart from bustling tourist towns of Amalfi and Positano. The local restaurants are amazing and although many steps we embraced the exercise and were thoroughly delighted with our villa.
Don't change anything, Villa Olivella is just perfect. Thanks for organizing our Capri boat trip and delivering our cold beer placing it in the fridge.
Thank you so much Luca for your great advice on Villa Olivella and staying in Praiano, we are so glad we weren't in the middle of the bustling towns. Everything was just as you promised and we had a fabulous stay, many thanks.
Travel tips
- The Amalfi Coast is a destination of many steps, about 70 to the villa's front door from the street and many many steps to the beaches. A certain level of fitness is required and a pram or wheelchair is out of the question. However you will not be disappointed with this spectacular villa and its amazing scenery perched high on the cliff edge.
- We loved the old world charm of Praiano, like stepping back in time to a beautiful era where both life and food is simple yet utterly amazing, you won't be disappointed.
- Try the Open Gate Hotel Restaurant for breakfast lunch or dinner, it's just metres from your door.
- The bus runs every half hour to Amalfi or Positano, tickets at the store next to bus stop EUR 1.20 each way.

The outside space was superb
August 2018 - Our family very much enjoyed staying at Villa Olivella. The outside space was superb and we spent all the time we were at the villa in the fresh air. We didn't really use the inside areas as the weather was so good the whole of the holiday. We all thought the bathrooms could do with a little upgrading but they were all usable.
I felt the booking process through to arrival were excellent and I was always kept informed.
Travel tips
- The villa is on levels and there are steps down from the top level to each subsequent level.
- As for position, Amalfi and Sorrento are all within easy reach and all worth a visit.
- Salerno is also a lovely city to visit and easier to navigate than Naples.
- There are shops about ten minutes walk from the villa that stock everything you need. Angela's shop was the closest and she is a wonderful lady who gave us a daily Italian lesson as we purchased wonderful local produce.

Travel tips
- Open Gate Restaurant across the street was great. Stefania is wonderful.
- The Restaurant Hotel Onda Verde in Via Terramare, on your way to beach, is excellent.
- Restaurant La Strada in the center of Praiano is great with complimentary ride home.
- Chez Black Restaurant at the beach in Positano was excellent.
- The buses can be quite annoying as their schedules aren't always accurate, but is the best way to get to Positano and beyond.
- We rented a private boat for the day and went to Capri. It was wonderful. A highlight of our trip!

Fantastic
August 2017 - Really great villa with a lot of character. It was a fun place to stay!
Pros: great view, a lot of space, nice terrace. The air-conditioned rooms were very pleasant. The young people who stayed in the non-AC rooms didn’t mind, but it would be good to make sure everyone is comfortable with the arrangement in advance. Cons: the buses were so full we couldn't get to Ravello! And we had dinner reservations/tickets to a concert. The two downstairs rooms feel very separated from the rest of the house.
The booking agents were excellent, I really appreciated all your help in finding the place! I will highly recommend you.
Travel tips
- Restaurant Costa Diva and Restaurant M’Ama were both excellent!
- Go to Positano, it is gorgeous.

Summer In Italy is a very helpful company with great online chat option. Very happy with the whole experience.
Travel tips
- Watch out for Saturday night as the club down the road starts playing loud music around midnight but if you shut the windows it is not so loud.
- The restaurants along the road are lovely for a dinner.
- Take a day trip to Capri, it is a real highlight.

June 2016 - We enjoyed our stay at the villa. It was beautifully furnished and had a lovely garden and stunning views.
Travel tips
- Be aware that 2 of the bedrooms are in the annex, a separate buildings. We had 2 families with 5 children staying at the villa and we ended up putting all 5 kids in the upstairs room to sleep. It was spacious and they ended up having a lot of fun.

June 2016 - We had a great stay at Villa Olivella.
It had plenty of room inside and out and all the facilities we needed. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time there and spent most of our time sightseeing .
The staff I dealt with at Summer In Italy were fantastic! Very informative and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to use their services again!
Travel tips
- We wanted a big terrace with a view so it was perfect!
- The walk to the town - where there were restaurants, bars and little supermarkets - wasn't too bad, about 10-15 minutes.
- Very quiet and peaceful.
- The bus stop was very close.

September 2015 - We enjoyed our stay at Villa Olivella.
Loved discovering all the interesting artifacts in the house. Our bedroom was the small one on the top floor with the shutters opening up to that view, loved it. The groups favorite place was the upstairs terrace.
Travel tips
- Swimming in that deep calm water at the beach was fantastic. Might be handy to have some reef walkers if you're a tender foot.
- Loved eating at the Restaurant Open Gate and Restaurant Casa Diva.
- Day trip to Capri is a must, you can catch a bus to Positano and then the ferry or catch a boat from Praiano itself.
- If you are a group and going any distance book a maxi cab, much more relaxing than the bus.
- Buy your wine from Luca's mum's shop in the 5 litre demijohn.

May 2014 - We all of us had a very good experience in la Villa Olivella.
We greatly appreciate the nice view an the possibilities to eat at different levels depending on the time of the day.
We had a bit of trouble with the dishwasher and we would have appreciate a good knife to cut the bread an the meat but it was so little trouble... A great place, we will talk about.
Very peaceful place and we felt in confidence. Thank you.

July 2013 - My family of 4 had a wonderful stay at Villa Olivella in July 2013. It could easily accommodate twice that many comfortably and was more room than we needed, but we like to spread out and location is important to us.
The villa is nicely situated about halfway between Praiano and the marina at La Praia. It has spectacular 360° views looking out toward La Praia.
The upper terrace is a lovely spot to sit and read or enjoy breakfast.
Luca [the caretaker] was an excellent host from the time we arrived to the time we left. He gave us many excellent restaurant suggestions and was helpful with excursions.
The staff at Summer In Italy were perfect. Everyone was very helpful and accommodating.
Travel tips
- Have Luca [the caretaker] set up an excursion to Capri.
- Get lunch at Restaurant Lo Smeraldo.
- Rent a boat and explore the coast - stop at Da Teresa on Santa Croce beach near Amalfi for lunch (ask for Luigi).
- Get pizza on the beach at Ristorante La Pergola in Positano.
- Don't miss Hosteria il Pino in Praiano for dinner - fabulous. It is across from Alimentari Angela, where you can walk for groceries. Apparently all my advice is about food!
