Amazing view
August 2024 - We enjoyed our stay very much. The view was amazing. It was a short walk to some of the restaurants.
Nothing but great things to say about Summer In Italy. The entire process from inquiring about the unit and tips for a great stay and meeting the property manager was exceptional. I would highly recommend them for your next stay. We will definitely use them again in the future when we visit other parts of Italy.
Travel tips
- Restaurant Caffe Positano is very close. Great views sitting outside.
- Street is very narrow so have to be very careful walking on the streets.

Beautiful and authentic property, and you can’t beat the views!
August 2024 - My husband and my 3 grown children (21,19, and 16) stayed for 4 nights in Villa Marica. Our stay started with a warm welcome from Maria Teresa [the property manager] which instantly made us feel at ease. The property is beautiful and authentic and you can’t beat the views. It’s impeccably clean and the air conditioning works very well (very important).
There are fantastic restaurants walking distance in both directions from the property. And yes, you do have to walk the famed stairs to the main beach, but they were manageable on the way down and we took the road back up. It’s a little bit of work but fun to walk past all the shops along the way. So, as far as Positano goes - it was a perfect location. Highly recommend!!!

Excellent, quiet location, yet minutes away from the liveliness of Positano!
October 2023 - Our stay at Villa Marica was perfect! It’s gorgeous- the pictures online do not do it justice. Excellent, quiet location, yet minutes away from the liveliness of Positano. Clean rooms, and windows and doors that when opened welcome the morning sun. Entryway floor is like green jade. Can’t say enough good things about our stay or the property.
There’s nothing that I can think of to improve upon. Great in every way. Maria Teresa [the property manger] provided outstanding concierge service - promptly responded with our questions, and simply a lovely person.
Summer In Italy provided great customer service throughout the booking, up until our arrival. Suggested a driver who got us safely to and from Positano.

Fabulous spot, excellent location!
May 2023 - Fabulous spot in Positano. Excellent location, halfway up between beach and "top" of the hill. Convenient to small market and some excellent restaurants. Terrance with table and chairs and fabulous view, perfect spot for late afternoon glass of wine and appetizer before heading out to dinner. Would definitely recommend this place.
The house manager, Maria Teresa, was great. Super informative and available for questions or recommendations.
The Summer In Italy team are great, provide excellent recommendations and always quick to respond! We received recommendation to book with them and so glad we did. Would highly recommend them to anyone considering a house / apt rental in Italy.

May 2023 - Beautiful property with only 15 - 18 steps from the street to the apartment. Fully equipped and even provides some voltage adapters, very thoughtful.
The host is gracious and fully involved without intruding.

Perfect location, spectacular view
September 2022 - We had a wonder visit in Positano staying in Villa Marica. The view from the terrace is spectacular! We had coffee in the mornings and wine in the afternoon watching the boats and looking at the beautiful water. The location is perfect. We walked to dinner each night.
The villa is good for the price. It is not luxurious but has everything you need.
We loved the view we saw online and that it had 3 bedrooms and was in a good location.

Travel tips
- Boat trip to Capri was awesome - Blue Grotto is a crazy scene with all the boats waiting to get their people picked up to go in - but totally worth the wait!
- Restaurant La Tagliata was a great experience as well - very different from any other dining we had. Be ready for a bit of a crazy shuttle ride up the mountain, but again worth the view and the family style dining.

Fantastic view, look forward to returning
May 2022 - We fell in love with Positano and Villa Marica! The view of the water and Positano from the terrace of Villa Marica is fantastic. We enjoyed breakfast and cocktails outside on the terrace every day while enjoying the view.
Villa Marica has a great property manager who provided an overview of the villa at check-in and was readily available to assist with any questions. She also provided great recommendations in Positano and neighboring towns, which we appreciated and made the experience more memorable.
We look forward to returning to Positano and enjoying Villa Marica again. We created lifetime memories on this trip.

The location was awesome and the area was fantastic
June 2019 - My family stayed at Villa Marica for 4 nights in June 2019. We loved it! The location was awesome and the area was fantastic.
The house was great, the kids loved having their own rooms, the beds comfortable and the air conditioning fabulous! The rooms were all very clean, well stocked with hand soap, towels, espresso coffee, salt, sugar and wonderful dishes.
It is halfway up the mountain so the view is spectacular every morning and every night, the outdoor furniture is a table with four chairs and an umbrella. Also a drying rack for the clothes, laundry and dish detergent were included.
I would absolutely return to Villa Marica tomorrow, and I highly recommend it to others.
I must say Maria Theresa [the caretaker] who greeted us was absolutely amazing, we loved her the minute we met her. She showed us how everything worked and was a big help in explaining transportation and things to see. Most important she was readily available by text and phone when we had a transportation issue, she was on it and rectified the problem. Please keep up the place, it is too beautiful to not be enjoyed! Thank you for opening your home to us.
I loved working with Summer In Italy. Luca was incredibly responsive and helpful. His advice when we asked about the property as well as the transportation services such as Amalfi Car and Praia Sea Service La Sibilla boats rental was fabulous, without question everyone we dealt with was fabulous.
Travel tips
- Here are some travel tips... There is a super great Italian market just a five minute walk away down the mountain. It has groceries and fresh made food, and beer, wine and anything else you need. It is great we made breakfast ever morning and than on our way back we stopped and picked up some ready made food, lasagna, gnocchi, salads, etc. They had a fresh deli and cheese counter as well as great fruit and vegetables.
- You can go to the beach, the chairs are 10 euro and it is very rocky but beautiful water.
- We took the stairs down and walk backed visiting all the great shops along the way.
- There is a great pastry shop where you can stop and pick up some lovely treats.
- We rented a boat to go to Capri and took the ferry to Amalfi. All the ferries are at the bottom of the mountain next to the beach, it is so easy and convenient.
- Loved Amalfi, Capri was meh, Anacapri was much nicer so go straight to the top.

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Marica very much!
May 2018 - We enjoyed our stay at Villa Marica very much! The house was very clean and well equipped. The view from the terrace was just amazing and we enjoyed the time we were able to sit out there. The kitchen offered everything we needed and then some. Above all of that though, the location was absolutely perfect. There were a number of good restaurants within a few minutes walk. I hope that we have the opportunity to visit again in the future.
Maria [the caretaker] was very helpful yet not at all intrusive.
Summer In Italy greatly exceeded every expectation that I had. I asked you many questions both before booking and then prior to arrival. Every question was answered professionally and promptly. Working with Summer In Italy gave me peace of mind when booking a private villa in Italy. The house was advertised perfectly and we had a very positive experience working with you from suggestions of properties through arrival. Thank you for helping us make our trip to Italy so special.
Travel tips
- We rented a boat that we were able to captain ourselves and explore the Amalfi Coast by water.
- Don't miss Restaurant La Tagliata for dinner one evening that you are there. It was an incredible experience. Just be sure to go hungry and try to pace yourself.

October 2016 - Bellissima! Villa Marica was safe and private, as well as convenient to everything we wanted to do -- an easy walk to the beach or the ferry, with great reastaurants nearby. Our family of five, ranging from 29 to 60, loved it. The terrace is outstanding - large, comfortable and with a stunning view. Great living spaces and comfortable bedrooms. A+++!
Maria Teresa, who manages the apartment, was a pleasant surprise -- very helpful!
Summer In Italy gave us excellent information before the trip, and the property was even better than expected. We will definitely book with you on our next trip.
Travel tips
- For restaurants, we loved Next2 and Da Vincenzo nearby, and La Tagliata (farm-to-table) was outstanding.

Would definitely come back!
September 2016 - We loved Villa Marica. The view was unbeatable. From the living room and one of the bedrooms, plus a big terrace. It was in a great location too. The apartment was nice and roomy for 5 adults. When we reserved we got a letter saying to please let the host know if there was any problem, rather than complaining afterwards. Well there was a dog barking below us for 2 hours nonstop. I really didn't think anything could be done but I called the caretaker and she found the owner and took care of the problem! We would definitely come back here!

Simply magical!
July 2016 - We adored Villa Marica and hope to one day come back and stay again. From the moment of our stay, we were greeted warmly by the manager, Maria, and loved everything about the villa, the perfect location, amenities, and beauty. It was everything we needed - easily fits a family of 5. Every sense will be filled... The beautiful view/site of the water and hillside, smell of lemons, sea breezes. Simply magical! The house was in great condition. All the amenities provided were perfect for our needs.
Thank you... We adored Maria, she was a wonderful greeter and very helpful in grounding and orienting us our first day to Positano. We look forward to coming back and spending a longer time... It was wonderful!
We did not know Summer In Italy before we rented from you - found you online from others who had recommended you through different sites... And now we look forward to calling on you again and will definitely recommend you to friends. Thank you to your staff at Summer In Italy - Alfano, Luca and the others were all very thorough and communicative, professional and cordial for the whole process!
Travel tips
- You can walk everywhere from this location, easily catch a bus on either side of the villa entrance to anywhere around Positano, the stairs take you equal distance to both beach areas, so explore both beaches! You will not be disappointed.
- Caffe Positano close by was wonderful for morning espresso and people watching...
- Day trip to Capri on private/local boat tours is a must.
- Hike the Walk of the Gods.
- Make reservations for Restaurant La Tagliata (they'll even pick you up!) and enjoy the views!

Very comfortable and in a good location
June 2016 - Villa Marica was very comfortable and is in a good location halfway up the hill. Terrace is a bit tight but with very good views of the sea. Having stayed in Positano 5 - 6 times the small number of steps to Villa Marica from the main road was most welcome as was the on-site parking (for a small car). You will get some noise from below and above from time to time but not too intrusive.
Maria Teresa [the caretaker] who greets you speaks excellent English and is very helpful.
Travel tips
- Good mix of restaurants within 5 mins walk, the further up the hill the cheaper.
- We love Restaurant Saraceno D’Oro for nice people and good food reasonably priced (for Positano).
- Restaurant Next2 for more fancy dining.
- The nicest homemade pasta we had in Positano was at Restaurant Valle Dei Mulini, no views but good food.
- Girlies loved the shoe man at Creazioni Nanà just down the road and they tried many others...

An excellent location with a fantastic view!
June 2016 - We have stayed in many houses, villas and apartment throughout Italy over the years and Villa Marica was among our very best. It is in an excellent location with a fantastic view and is in easy walking distance to everything in Positano. It was clean, very well equipped, had excellent WI-Fi, was close to shopping and was very comfortable. It is an excellent choice for those who wish to rent within the town.
Maria, the caretaker, was very helpful and responsive to our needs. She is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her job.
Great job as always!
Travel tips
- The parking space of Villa Marica is quite small. If you have a large car as we did, you will need to park up the road at Parcheggio Carpineto which is the closet parking, about 300 meters. We made arrangements in advance on the Internet and the staff there were very helpful and all went well.

June 2015 - I enjoyed Villa Marica immensely: the ambience, style, view and peace of the property... For me was fantastic, better than photos and expectations.
However the beds could do with an upgrade. To do the apartment justice the main bed could be better and the twin beds are narrow, best suited for children. The third bedroom single is short also more suited to a child.
We loved Villa Marica and the South of Italy. I will be back!

August 2014 - We had a lovely stay at Villa Marica.
The location was perfect, about mid way up the hill, not to far from the beach, not to far from the restaurants at the top of the hill. The apartment itself was fine. The furnishings were a little worn but served its purpose. We did have a very loud neighbor for part of the stay but probably not anything to be done about that.
The property manager was easy to work with and met us for the arrival and departure right on time.
We did have a small issue with ants in one room but I understand that is normal in the area. We reported this and they said they would take care of it for future guests.
Easy to work with Summer In Italy. Thanks for a lovely vacation.
Travel tips
- The restaurants off the beach and up the hill tend to be better. We like Restaurant Da Vincenzo best.
- Take a day and use the free water taxi to Le Sirene to enjoy a less crowded beach. We caught the shuttle and had lunch there and spent the day and they have complimentary chairs and umbrella.
- Rent a kayak from Puppetto Cafe on the north beach and get out to some of the beaches north of Positano and you can have a beach all to yourself. The two person kayaks are only 10 euro an hour.

August 2014 - We were three generations on holiday together, including two teens. We all loved Villa Marica, especially the view and would highly recommend it. We had a wonderful holiday there.
We found you on line and cannot praise you highly enough for the prompt and helpful service (via email) that we received. Many thanks!
Travel tips
- Staying on the Amalfi Coast during holiday season is not for the faint-hearted, especially coping with driving on the narrow, busy roads.
- We had a hire car and had pre-booked our parking close to Villa Marica, which worked well.
- There was a local bus service through Positano that seemed to cater for the local and wider area, although we didn't use it.
- There is plenty of choice of restaurants and those we sampled were excellent.
- We found two grocery stores, having everything you might need. There was also a good butchery.
- All involved a steep climb down and back up to the apartment.
- We visited the popular sights - Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mount Vesuvius, etc., all of which were within one hour's drive.
- There was secure parking available near the archaeological sites but Vesuvius was more of a challenge. We eventually parked in a lay-by on the road and climbed back up to the car park.
- Our main regret was not having time to visit the museum housing the artifacts taken from the sites.
- We took the ferry to Capri and although the journey along the coast was fun, the visit itself was disappointing. Lots of designer shops and not much else, unless you're willing to do some quite challenging walking.
- We swam at Positano beach every evening, when the crowds had gone. It's fine for adults and older children, but not really for non-swimmers and toddlers, being stony and shelving quickly once in the water.

July 2013 - A brilliant stay in the heart of Positano. An enormous place with room to really live. A divine wrap around verandah with endless ocean views. You're at the top of the hill here so many steps to beach BUT you could just take the gentle slope of the road that also takes you to the heart of it all.
Our meet and greet person Nunzia was fabulous and very flexible working around our needs.
There were just two of us swimming around in this massive place which could easily sleep 5/6 people.
Highly recommended - our service from the Summer In Italy staff was also very professional and personable. Great place, great value - ideal - we'll be back.

- You'll love it - but it is a bit like staying in your Grandma's house - very Italian decor - but very authentic.
- Go to the jetty in town around 1 pm - wait for the boat with the red wooden fish on the mast Da Adolfo - jump on and ride to an amazing lunch!!

June 2013 - A perfect location in Positano terms. Just a few steps into the apartment, parking, and then a nice downhill walk to the beach. Uphill helps towards walking off all the beautiful restaurant food that you eat. Very well appointed in terms of self catering.
Great website, great customer service. Arrival instructions were thorough and easy to follow. Advice about "living in Italy" answers most questions. Thank you, we will use your service when next in Italy.
Travel tips
- Try Restaurant Next2 just up the road from Villa Marica.
- Wifi at La Brezza on the beach is great.

June 2013 - We enjoyed our stay at Villa Marica. There were four adults and one infant. We were all very comfortable and loved the location and views.
We were really very pleased with the villa. I would recommend this to other people who ask me for a great place to stay.
I was very pleased with Summer in Italy. I always received answers to my emails and everything went very well. The description of the Villa Marica was accurate. I would definitely contact Summer in Italy again when we go back to Italy. I found Summer in Italy on line.
Travel tips
- The shopping in Positano is wonderful. Prices are reasonable in the shops nearest to the Villa Marica. The shops nearer to the beach are much more expensive.
- Our favorite restaurant was Da Vincenzo. We ate there five out of seven days. We loved the food and it was reasonable and it's a very short walk from the villa.
- Take a boat ride from the beach to Amalfi. It's only a half an hour.
- We hired a driver and went to Pompeii for the day. It was worth the trip.
- I would not recommend renting a car.
- We visited the other cities of the Amalfi coast, but Positano was the most beautiful! Enjoy. We hope to go back some day.

June 2013 - Villa Marica is located in an excellent area, close to restaurants and shops, an easy walk to the beach yet high enough to have great views. And the secure parking on the property is a welcomed convenience.
The flowers, bushes and fruit trees are amazing to view and smell. The furnishings could use some updating, however, overall we found staying at this property to be a wonderful experience.
Travel tips
- On days when the weather prevents the ferries from running do not expect to have an easy time using the SITA bus. On one overcast and windy day we, along with many others, waited over two hours at the stop up the hill hoping to get a bus to Amalfi. But each time a bus passed by it was already completely full and did not stop. We finally gave up and drove our own rental car to Amalfi. Under normal conditions I don't think a rental car is necessary while staying at Villa Marica because it is so well situated. It does become rather expensive when the parking fee is added to the car rental charge. And, more often than not, it's an easy walk to the majority of places you might want to go, you can use the local bus to get almost anywhere or you can call a shuttle to take you to and from restaurants in Montepertuso. However, we found it very convenient to have a car parked on the property and available to us under any circumstance.
- Do plan to visit at least one of the restaurants in Montepertuso, the town above Positano. Many will provide a free shuttle service, including La Tagliata, Il Ritrovo and La Terra, each of which is highly recommended.
- While there is an added charge for electric usage we found it to be very reasonable, nothing to be concerned about.

November 2012 - We loved the view, garden, and privacy. The magnificent terraced balcony that you could sit and have a wine on and view the sea.
The 3 bathrooms were well equipped and would be great if you were a few friends travelling together or couples.
Close walking distance to everything, near by restaurants and parking were all great.
Travel tips
- Tiny little grocery store down the street is good. The owner here speaks good English and is very helpful. I would visit a supermarket in Sorrento to stock up on supplies first if coming by car.
- Lots of walks and I would visit before the end of October as we found the ferry stops running the first weekend in November. Also a lot of the restaurants had closed for the winter that weekend as well.

October 2012 - We all enjoyed our stay at Villa Marica very much.
The villa was lovely and very comfortable. The kitchen was absolutely fine, however some sort of padding or insulation around bench tops etc. would be good. Very noisy!
Summer In Italy were terrific. Very organised, helpful and well organised. I am impressed and will recommend your organisation to others.
Travel tips
- We thought the quality of fresh produce at the main grocery store very disappointing. Also tourist prices.

October 2012 - We loved Villa Marica. There were 4 of us and there was plenty of room to not get in teach others way. It's really 3 beds and 3 baths.
The location is the most perfect for Positano because it is one of the few places where you walk out on the main road without climbing loads of stairs. That was priceless. There is no road noise, just periodic noise from the upstairs neighbor but nothing disturbing and wonderfully Italian, really.
The owner is so wonderful and responsive and just very kind!
The view is fabulous and all doors open to the sunny side of the house. The AC works well also. All in all, a great place. There is a dishwasher and washing machine that work well also.
We loved our time here.
Travel tips
- Shops are very close, transportation is easy if you want a bus it stops close and cabs are nearby.
- Restaurant Next2 and Restaurant Da Vincenzo are close and the best food ever!
- Vincenzo at taxidriverpositano.com is the best driver and guide. Tours of Capri was also a wonderful company as was Silver Cars.
- Teatro Tasso in Sorrento we would not recommend.
- Cafe Positano is a fun place to eat.
- Don't eat by the beach. It's crazy expensive.

September 2012 - We were a family of 4 from NYC (2 boys: 9 and 7) and we had the most glorious week at Villa Marica.
We've been to Positano many times and this was our favorite villa so far: it's quiet, superbly located and with a lovely terrace. The interior is well set up with very comfortable beds. Kitchen is very basic but fine for our needs.
Would highly recommend it for a family and we have every intention of renting it again next year!
Friends of ours used you and their recommendation was well justified. Great service, flawless details before arrival and no surprises. Fantastic and professional service.
Travel tips
- This apartment is in such a great location with many of Positano's best restaurant less than 5 mins walk away: Next 2, Ristorante Saraceno d'Oro, wine-dark Horse and Da Vincenzo (our favorite).
- Highly recommend hiring a small boat and going out for a morning: we loved it so much we did it 3 times.
- We did the walk up to Montepertuso and had lunch at the wonderful Restaurant Il Ritrovo.

October 2011 - Villa Marica was nostalgic and felt like home. I loved the ocean view and the sound of the water! The garden terrace was also very beautiful and lush.
We were a party of four and had plenty of room and having three bathrooms was so great! It was very easy to get to and very close to any place you might need to go (market, bus, shop). We were all very comfortable and had a great visit to Positano!
I highly recommend Villa Marica!
Your website was very helpful and informative to me as I planned my first trip to Italy. I looked up everything on your website, buses, phone, etc... Thank you Luca, it was so nice to meet you!

September 2011 - We enjoyed the Villa very much.
We were very near some of the best restaurants in the city and not only was the food incredible but the staff and owners made every meal a fun experience.
We would definitely recommend staying in Positano and our daughters are already planning a return trip next year!
There are 373 steps to the beach from Villa Marica, so start your training now. We are seniors but managed to get to the beach twice a day. Local bus stop was just steps away if you don't want to do the steps to the beach.
It was very easy to book with Summer in Italy and would use them again. They answered questions and requests quickly and were very helpful with information needed.
Travel tips
- Shopping and restaurants near the Villa were excellent. I would recommend them all. There was grocery stores nearby that you could buy fresh deli foods for a quick lunch or light dinner at the villa.
- Local bus stop was just steps away if you don't want to do the steps to the beach.
- There are plenty of tours you can sign up for by the beach.

August 2011 - The villa is in a perfect position because it is slightly away from the main centre and any noise but is close enough to walk down to it and closer still to restaurants and shops. It is close enough to reach both beaches but it is elevated enough to get a lovely view of the sea. Everything is in walking distance if you are fit enough for this - you do not need a car. We were there when the festival was going on and my family had perfect viewing of the fireworks and boats. Fantastic!
The villa is spacious and has everything you need. The terrace is big enough - it is long and narrow. Americans may find it small but that's because everything in America is huge! It is clean enough and adequate enough but I would not call it overly luxurious, however it is homely.
Travel tips
- The Italians are so helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. We even had someone refuse a tip!
- Go to Ferdinando's on the Fornillo beach. The owner, Guido, is fantastic and makes you feel very welcome.

August 2011 - It's just the greatest place I've ever rent for holidays!
The pictures of the location reflect the reality: the view from the terrace is magnificent and the flat is charming and well equipped.
Travel tips
- If you rent a car, you have to know that there are only charged parking places in Positano (about 20 euros per day...). A rented car is not necessary: the local means of transportation are very efficient.

July 2011 - Villa Marica was great.
I stayed in the very small bedroom which is ok (although my feet hit the wall at the end), but it must be clear that this bedroom is extremely small.
Since it is a 3 bedroom place it would be great to get 2 sets of keys instead of one.
I would stay at Villa Marica again for sure.
“Regarding the sets of keys: by any mean do ask! Regardless which holiday home you are staying at, please do feel free to ask for extra sets of keys. The owners will be happy to provide them if possible. If you have special requirements you can also check with our staff ahead of time, and we will make arrangements for you.„

June 2011 - Location and view is typically Positano high on cliff with a wonderful view of the sea. The necessary downside is that it is quite a walk to the town down by the beach, about 20-25 minutes but it is well worth it. That's what's special about Positano.
Positano was all what we expected it to be and Villa Marica, despite some shortcomings in the kitchen, provided a wonderful and typical Positano holiday. Summer-in-Italy's directions and advice was excellent. I would have no hesitation using both Villa Marica and Summer-in-Italy in the future.

June 2011 - Enjoyed Positano, the view and the location. Although the deck was quite small for 5 people it afforded a fantastic view.

- Day trip to Pompeii excellent by bus and train - easy
- Trip to Ravello - Villa Cimbrone excellent
- Trip to Capri and Anacapri worthwhile - especially the views of the coast on the way back

May 2011 - We loved our stay at Villa Marica! It was a simple house that met all our basic needs. Nothing fancy or fussy - but we didn't need or want that!
The location was convenient to a local grocery store and some wonderful restaurants. The walk to the bus to Sorrento or Amalfi was about 20 minutes - but every step of it was beautiful.
At night it was sometimes a little noisy in the one bedroom closest to the street but nothing really late at night or any on-going noise.
Overall we loved it and would stay there again.
We just found you on on-line and were very pleased. You made the process very easy and stress-free. You responded quickly to all my emails. Thank you for making our vacation so wonderful!
Travel tips
- Restaurant Da Vincenzino was one of our favorite restaurants - not only great food, but very nice owners/staff. Treated us like family.
- Restaurant Il Capitano was great for lunch with an amazing view of the water. Dinner there was a little too cool when we were there but would be great in the summer.
- The local grocery store is small but has more than you can imagine!
- Highly recommend the Positano tour with Christine you can find on Trip Advisor.
