Excellent
September 2024 - We stayed in Villa Madreluna for a week with family and friends to celebrate my 60th birthday. The house was perfect for our party of 20 adults. Ample space to mingle, relax in the sun and enjoy the amazing views. The professional kitchen was well equipped, to keep everyone well fed and happy.
The hosts also offer outside catering if requested. Talking about Giusy our host, she could not have been more friendly and helpful.
Overall everyone had a fantastic experience. I highly recommend Villa Madreluna. One caveat, like everywhere on the Amalfi Coast guests should be prepared to handle steps. 300 down from the street above to the villa, more on the 15 min walk to downtown Amalfi.

Amazing property with fantastic views
June 2024 - The views were fantastic and the property was amazing. It was perfect for our 18 person family with everyone having space. The big professional kitchen meant great meals while the pool and patio provided the perfect place for us to relax after a long day.
The owner and staff were really what made this place so special. They helped us with everything and were just to nice. It was a pleasure to meet them.
Travel tips
- The villa is on the side of a hill and requires you to go up or down steps in order to get to town or really anywhere. But we were all healthy and this was no problem for us. We'd walk down the stairs to get into town and then take the bus back a few hours later, no problem.

Once-in-a-lifetime
July 2023 - This villa is truly authentic, providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Seven couples stayed here for a week, relishing the pool and breathtaking views. On two nights, a private chef cooked for us, and the food was exceptional.
The staff is incredible. They even stocked groceries for us, saving us a pre-arrival shopping trip.
Our pictures surprised and made others jealous of the stunning views. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.
Travel tips
- The 300 steps from the top down to the villa weren't as daunting as they seemed.
- You can also walk down from the villa to the town center, approximately 700 easy steps. It takes about 15 minutes, more or less.

May 2023 - Our group thoroughly enjoyed our week at Villa Madreluna. It was the perfect setting, with private space vs multiple group spaces!
The staff was wonderful and accommodated us the entire week! Be sure to utilize some of the meal services the owners can provide. The breakfasts were really special, and we had a pizza making night that was unbelievable, as well as pasta making, which we ALL participated in, everyone loved it!
Travel tips
- Your group has to be open to a lot of steps and the time it takes to get from point to point.
- The bus is really easy.
- Most restaurants can offer shuttle transportation.

We very much enjoyed our stay
October 2022 - We very much enjoyed our stay. The stairs are worth it, plus you'll need it with all the pasta you'll eat!
We had such a nice stay and really appreciated the snacks upon arrival, easy check in, great communication, the beautiful view, help with the luggage and all the communication. The house comes stocked with a few essential and even wine for purchase - outstanding touch after a full day of travel to their!

Had a great experience
July 2022 - Loved Villa Madreluna! We came there as a large group to celebrate the first part of our honeymoon and the staff were able to handle our every request, provided great recommendations for activities in town like boating, and even were able to bring in a private chef to host a large dinner at the home for 32 people.
Had a great experience with the staff and the rest of the people that we encountered and would highly recommend the house.

Beautiful villa on a gorgeous estate
May 2022 - Beautiful villa on a gorgeous estate. The views are tremendous, and the numerous outdoor areas are incredible. The one downside is the way to get to the villa. You have to go down about 300 steps, and they are quite steep. Some of our guests could not go up and down the steps without the stair elevator (which only holds 2 people at a time and takes about 20 minutes to go up and down). This was a bigger deal than I expected. Otherwise, the place is incredible.
The management team is very helpful and generous.
Great service from Luca (Summer In Italy), very easy to deal with.

An amazing house.
April 2022 - The house was amazing! A group of 16 of us stayed there and we had an amazing time. The views and grounds are so beautiful I don’t think the photos even do it justice.
We did a day trip by ferry to Positano and overall I’m really glad we stayed in the town of Amalfi instead. The walk down to town is not bad at all maybe 15 minutes but the whole walk is so beautiful. The walk up though is very hard but the bus is quick and very cheap.
Summer In Italy was great would definitely recommend and use in the future.
Travel tips
- The bus is quick and easy, don’t waste money on taxis back n forth to town. The taxis are $40 each way minimum and the bus is $1.50

Loved every minute
August 2019 - We loved every minute of our time at Villa Madreluna! The villa itself was spectacular, and the staff, including Reno, Salvatore and Teresa could not have been any better! Nothing we needed, or wanted, or asked for was ever a problem!
The bedrooms are fantastic! The kitchen and common areas are fantastic! The pool and sun deck are not to be believed! I wish I could go back tomorrow!
I would not hesitate to work with Summer in Italy again! As a matter of fact, I look forward to the next time I do get to work with them again. Responsive, professional and incredibly easy to work with! I decided to work with them based on some positive reviews on Yelp. I cant say enough good things about the staff at Summer in Italy!
Travel tips
- Don't be deterred by the amount of stairs, very manageable.
- Use the little town of Pogerola as much as you can! Fabulous restaurant and market.

June 2019 - We really enjoyed our time at the villa. There were no suprises, the villa was described exactly as it is. The owners were lovely and the views unbelievable.
There is lots of stairs but the elevator worked well and the parking was no problem.
There are two good restaurants near by if you do not want to drive far and the owner (a chef) will cook meals for you if you prefer. We choose a cooking class for the kids and men and that was great fun.
I would recommend this to any large group of family members or friends.
All the people I have worked with at Summer In Italy were very helpful and patient. I have already recommended you company to other friends. I had never heard of you company - just found you on the web and took a chance. At first I was worried but the more I spoke to your employees the more confident I became that this was a sound company.
Travel tips
- The hotel above the villa has a lovely restaurant with great views and food. The services was very friendly and made you feel at home.
- Osteria up the road from the hotel (you go right as you leave the hotel) also has great food a different but lovely view.
- The owner also is very knowledgeable about local wines.
- Transportation on the ferries was convenient.

Our breathtaking Italian adventure
June 2019 - Villa Madreluna was a breathtaking adventure, both literally and figuratively. Once you climb the steps to your destination, you are rewarded by views, comfort and service unparalleled. For four days, this was truly a home away from home for 19 international travelers.
The vibe is cozy Italian, unique but not foreign, older but not antique. The space embraces the open air, with so many places to escape or congregate. The common spaces create an environment of gathering, be it cooking pasta together on a giant stove or sharing wine on the terrace. With such a large group, this was exactly what we needed, the ability to zen out and make memories together.
The Summer In Italy crew went above and beyond to provide amenities onsite- espresso and pasta up to our eyes, even bus tickets to get us into town. There was a caretaker onsite every day, freshening up the pool, trimming the hedges, fixing things here and there. We were never for want. Everything was exactly as it said it would be.
I am already being asked to plan 2020 because of this experience. I cannot thank Luca and Andrea enough for their patience enduring a laundry list of questions and tripling checking details, and for accommodating the nervous travelers queries and needs. I also am so grateful to Teresa, for always being at our disposal for questions and for the thoughtful birthday flowers and wine. And to the burly men dragging our luggage up and down the 300 steps to and from the villa, you are godsends.
The staff at SII is incredible. Amazing knowledge, kindness and patience, all the things that make international travel so much easier. I highly recommend the team and would absolutely book with them again.
Travel tips
- We hired out two speed boats via Amalfi Boats (Mena and Flavio), and it took everything we had NOT to book it out for a second day. This was the best day trip ever, docking in Capri, visiting the Blue Grotto, swimming in the ocean outside Positano. I cannot recomend it more highly.
- We also had an incredible dinner in town at Taverna Buonvicino. They catered a fabulous 4-course prix fixe menu for 19 people. Bartolomeo was wonderful to work with, extremely patient and kind.

Perfect for our large family
July 2018 - Villa Madreluna was perfect for our large family (19 pp). There was plenty of room, yet places where we could all be together. The outdoor accommodations were wonderful, our grandchildren especially enjoyed the pool area. The villa was welcoming and well maintained. The views were spectacular!
The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, often providing fresh fruits from their beautiful gardens!
Summer In Italy was a good find for us.
Travel tips
- Driving here is a challenge, especially for tourists unfamiliar with navigating the narrow, winding roads.
- Great water transportation to visit other coast towns.
- Good beaches, shopping and NEVER a bad meal!
