October 2014 - Appartamento Carrubo is an ideal location from which enjoy the beauty of Positano and the shoreline below. The caretaker, Giovanni, is tireless and always there to satisfy every needs that you might have. Summer In Italy service was excellent and I would not hesitate to use you again. Your advice, particularly NOT to rent a car, was very helpful. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello and Capri are all easy to get to either by bus or water ferry.
  • Most restaurants will pick you up and deliver you back to the property without any charge.

Very good

May 2014 - Appartamento Carrubo was better than we expected! Pictures don't show true beauty of villa, gardens, pool and views.

Spacious with everything you need.

The host, Giovanni, was a fabulous asset, he knows everyone and everything to do in the area.

Travel tips

  • Relax and smell the lemons.
  • Forget sightseeing and enjoy the villa and waking to Positano, beach and Praiano.

June 2013 - Loved, loved, loved, Giovanni!! [the caretaker] He is the best, without him we would have been lost. He takes care of everything in minutes. I feel really sad that I will not be seeing him again (or at least not in the near future). My Grandson who is 3 1/2 loved him too, he fixed his Ironman Patriot mask for him when it got stepped on, it was almost like new. Seriously, Ernestina B was very nice but Giovanni was wonderful. Could not have asked for better.

Travel tips

  • Just be aware that the road is just below you, our little one got us up pretty early but for some it might be a problem.
  • Everything is within walking distance.

Fantastic

September 2012 - Excellent villa and "caretaker" (Mr Giovanni).

Found the website excellent. We will probably go back to Positano at some point in the future. Would definitely book with Summer In Italy again.

Travel tips

  • Positano is on the Amalfi Coast, the houses are built on the side of the mountains, so be warned "there are plenty of steps".
  • Positano is definitely the place to stay.
  • The villa is walking distance to Positano or just get a taxi.

Very good

August 2012 - Villa Ernestina was beautiful and the view exceptional.

Giovanni [the caretaker] is a wonderful person who helped us with whatever we needed.

The place was clean and relaxing. The road was quite noisy, but everything else was terrific and extremely relaxing. The view from the balconies and pool are as good as it gets!

Travel tips

  • Get a bus schedule and take it into town to save on taxis. Don't bring a car for local use, no place to park it.

August 2010 - We absolutely loved our stay at Appartamento Carrubo. The apartment was perfect... clean and spacious... pool and outdoor areas were perfect. Absolutely amazing view.

Best of all was Giovanni, the owner. It was an absolute pleasure meeting and getting to know this man. He made us feel so comfortable and took such great care of us. Went so far out of his way to be helpful. He has left a lasting impression on my whole family and we will miss him dearly.

Travel tips

  • Favorite restaurant was Donna Rosa up in the mountains and on the beach was Incanto.

July 2010 - An excellent location. Great short walk into town rather than stay in the centre of the village. Excellent views and facilities. Wonderful owner/manager. Being on the windy road, you get to really live the atmosphere of vespers going by.

We will definitely stay again and highly regard this property.

Travel tips

  • Plan to park your car and walk or use local buses to get you around.

September 2009 - Our stay in Appartamento Carrubo was fantastic. The view is breath taking and inside the Villa itself is lovely. It's really spacious and was spotless on arrival.

The pool is beautiful and very clean and also has amazing views from it.

There was everything you could think of supplied, from hairdryers and an iron to a tumble dryer and CD player.

Giovanni [the caretaker] was on hand for all our needs, not that there was many of them as everything was great! The only thing that I would say is that, you pay EUR 100 for cleaning but the Villa is not cleaned through out your stay, only after you leave.

Summer in Italy is a great website and I would definitely book through you again. Everyone was very helpful and all my emails regarding different questions very answered very quickly and professionally. Keep up the good work...

Yes, indeed the final cleaning fee is meant to pay for the cleaners who tidy up the house after you leave (or, depending at how you look it at it, before you arrive, after the previous guests have left). This is a customary fee that has been in existence since the early days of vacation rentals, although more and more rentals are beginning to include it in the rental rate. The rationale for not including the cleaning fee in the rental rate is that when you book multiple weeks you only pay the final cleaning once. The main reason for having it included is that it makes it easier to compare different rentals. Here at Summer In Italy you will find both vacation homes that have the fee included, and vacation homes that have it as a local cost (clearly indicated on the holiday home description page).

Travel tips

  • The walk down to the town only takes 10-12 minutes but it probably takes longer to walk back as it's all uphill. You can get the bus from the main square every 15 minutes up to the Villa or a taxi.
  • One of our favourite restaurants was Da Vincenzo. It's over the other side of Positano but well worth a visit.

July 2009 - Ernestina B is a lovely place, clean and reasonably equipped with most things one needs for occasional cooking and meal preparation.

The bathrooms are spotless, efficient, and the water pressure is excellent!

Access to the orange bus and SITA bus couldn't be better although along with this proximity, it can be noisy at times.

The view of Positano and the sea are exquisite.

Giovanni, property manager extraordinaire, is always available and always willing to assist with anything and everything you need.

Excellent experience!

Travel tips

  • Don't hesitate to ask Giovanni [the caretaker] for anything you might need. If anything is missing or not to your satisfaction, he will immediately take care of everything!
  • The orange bus not only gets you to places you might like in Positano, it's also a great ride from the top to almost the bottom of Positano!
  • The SITA bus, early in the morning, will get you to Sorrento from where you can take an inexpensive train to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Naples, etc. Wonderfully convenient if you want to leave your car parked as we did!
  • Capri and Anacapri are not to be missed if you haven't been there before, and renting a rubber boat or a traditional boat from the beach at Positano can render a beautiful self-tour of the coastline - stop for a swim too wherever you like!
  • The church in Amalfi is well worth the tour and although it's a bit of a walk up the hill to the old Paper Mill, it is well worth it, particularly if you want a chance to make your own paper!

October 2008 - In short, a wonderful place with a breathtaking view towards Positano and the coast beyond - and our stay was certainly made even more enjoyable by Giovanni, the owner's father who was extremely hospitable and kind.

The only downside is the fact that the noise and smoke from the traffic on the main road to Amalfi was a bit too much sometimes (the terrace of the apartment is right above the road).

Thank you for a very efficient service.

A tip for prospective guests who fancy Villa Ernestina and are concerned about noise from the traffic: consider renting Villa Ernestina A, the unit which is higher up from the road and is quieter.

September 2008 - Very nice villa, with beautiful view of the coast, comfortably furnished and very well equipped.

Charming terraces and swimming pool, with splendid views of the coast.

We were really pleased when we arrived at the villa, because the previous information we had received was faithful and accurate.

Travel tips

  • First class restaurants recommended by the owner. It´s specially helpful the pick-up service some of them provide.
  • Very nice beach an beach restaurant right down below the villa (Arienzo Beach) managed by Pepe.
  • The housekeeper Giovanni will kindly solve any problem and will provide you as information and help you could need.

October 2007 - Our stay at Ernestina B was OUTSTANDING!!!

Giovanni [the owner] was MORE than helpful and welcoming.

The view was absolutely gorgeous of both the coast and the town of Positano.

We would DEFINITELY stay there again.

Travel tips

  • The bus picks you up right outside for Positano (can pay 1 euro on board) and for the surrounding towns (must buy tickets in town at the tobacco shop).

October 2006 - The villa was wonderful - plenty of space to relax out on the terraces with good amount of seating.

Close proximity to the bus stops, beach etc. was a great convenience.

Kitchen work prep space was a little small but we managed nicely.

We enjoyed our stay completely and hope to return again in a few years with our grown children.

Did not meet the owner Daniela but met her father Giovanni a number of times and he was most helpful and enjoyable.

Travel tips

  • See it all and try to take one of the many hiking trails in the area.

October 2006 - We absolutely adored Appartamento Carrubo - it surpassed our expectations. Our first impressions were so favourable and nothing changed during the week.

Giovanni [the owner] was so kind and patient with all our questions about buses, etc... Having the connection with Emilia's deli in Positano was so convenient - we really appreciated that.

The views are spectacular and it was difficult to move from the balcony - wonderful skies, glorious sunsets, craggy mountains and lots of marine activity.

We enjoyed our trip to Amalfi and Ravello. Buses were convenient but it was easy for us to walk into Positano. We didn't particularly care for Sorrento. Climbing down the stairs from Montepertuso was spectacular. The bus rides are a bit hair raising but the views at every turn SUPERB. Ravello is gorgeous and Amalfi's duomo worth a trip.

There was absolutely nothing that disappointed us about our stay at Appartamento Carrubo - except having to leave.

Unfortunately, Appartamento Carrubo can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
