We had a wonderful stay at Villa Fillide B!
July 2023 - The host was warm, welcoming and exceptionally helpful, the location was perfect (especially after a busy week in Rome), and we enjoyed the lovely pool. The villa was spotless and beautifully appointed, and the outlook was gorgeous.
We highly recommend Villa Fillide B for couples or families - a fantastic experience all round. It really was perfect.
I’d be happy to book with you again.
Travel tips
- It’s a 10-15 min downhill walk to the centre of the village and train station.
- We enjoyed trips to the Excavations of Pompeii and the Excavations of Herculaneum by train (no need for an organised tour, but we did book in advance to avoid the queues), and there is easy access to Sorrento where you can also take trips to Capri, Amalfi and Positano. For us, the highlight was Herculaneum.

Well-situated, loved our stay!
July 2023 - We loved our stay at Villa Fillide! The place is well-situated - only 10 minute walk to the main area with restaurants, stores and the train station.
It was nice to live the true 'Italian Villa' experience. The gardens, pool and terrace were unbeatable!
The hosts were the best and gave us some water bottles, wine and even some oranges from their garden.
Luca was very responsive to my questions and gave us recommendations. The instructions on how to get there were extremely helpful and clear.
Travel tips
- With the train being so close-by, you can visit Pompei and you can either walk or take the train to beautiful Sorrrento.

Easy walk into Sorrento
June 2023 - We had the most wonderful stay. Lucia, the owner, was so helpful and kind.
We loved the garden and the pool. The pictures don’t do it justice. We loved playing in the pool or sitting on the terrace playing cards.
So easy to walk into Sorrento or Sant'Agnello, little shop for essentials down the road. The only thing I would recommend is an air conditioner in lounge as we were a family of four and needed to use the sofa bed, which was comfortable.
Really good service and so much information provided
Travel tips
- The little supermarket near the villa is perfect for essentials and the bigger one in Sant'Agnello is really good.
- Walk if you can as taxis are expensive, the train and bus are brilliant as well.
- We got the ferry to capri which was so beautiful from Sorrento.

Wonderful stay!
June 2023 - Wonderful stay - the villa is slightly out of the centre but within an easy walk (uphill on the way back) and the peaceful location is worth it. The apartment had plenty of space and a superb balcony that stretched on two sides of the building ensuring sunshine all day. Onsite parking and great views of the mountains on one side and the bay of the other.
The owners live downstairs and are always available to assist if needed - they even gave us a lift into the centre to avoid the rain one night!
We really enjoyed our stay.
Travel tips
- Sant'Agnello di Sorrento has a very busy road but go down to the sea front for the best views of Sorrento (particularly good at sunset) and some good bars/restaurants.

October 2022 - Very nice owner, super service minded.
In October the pool is open but rather cold because the sun does not reach it.
Very good service from Summer In Italy.

August 2022 - We stayed at Villa Fillide B for 2 weeks in August and had a fantastic holiday.
This villa was perfect. It was a fantastic location with amazing views of the bay of Sant'Agnello and Sorento to one side an the mountains to the other.
Orange and lemon groves surround the property and the owners live on the ground floor. They are charming people and very helpful.
The villa is well equipped, safe box, iron etc and a large furnished balcony around 3 sides. Air con rooms. Pool area is equipped with parasols and loungers and a shower.
Hotel La Pace is opposite and ideal for pick ups for any trips you book. It's a short walk down the hill to Sant Agnelo town. Plenty of shops, bars and the train station. Sorento is 30 mins walk, 5 mins drive or one stop on the train. There is a small shop 2 minutes walk down the hill which is handy for essentials.
Villa Fillide B was a great place to stay and we would definitely stay there again.
We could not fault Summer in Italy. Communication was excellent and details of the villa and how to find it were accurate and useful.
Travel tips
- In the height of summer, mosquitoes are very active so take extra repellent. The owners kindly lent us an extra plug in machine but I would advise sprays in addition.
- Although you could get by without a car, it is advisable if you want to visit places like Sant'Agata, Amalfi and Positano.
- Due to the narrow streets, we found sat navs sent us down roads not suitable for cars and especially large cars. Maps are more advisable.

October 2019 - We enjoyed our stay at Villa Fillide B very much. The apartment was very clean and well equipped.
The owners were very helpful, especially their son who sorted out the wi-fi and washing machine!
The balcony furniture was much appreciated. The double bed was very comfortable. Plenty of hot water.
Summer in Italy were very helpful and professional.
Travel tips
- The apartment is within easy walking distance of good supermarkets, bus stops to Sorrento and Amalfi and also the train station to Sorrento and Naples.

August 2019 - We had a wonderful week in Fillide B, a beautiful villa set in a lovely location. Our children really enjoyed the pool, which we were lucky to have to ourselves most days.
The owners were very discreet, but available when needed.
Thank you Summer in Italy for all the regular communication in the run up to our holiday. It has been a pleasure to deal with you.
Travel tips
- We survived quite happily without a car, using the frequent Circumvesuviana trains and the local bus services. The walk up and down to central Sant'Agnello takes about 10 mins -- can be a bit strenuous on hot days!
- We booked a taxibus directly from Napoli airport to the villa on our arrival -- good value at €90 for 5 of us.
- I can highly recommend hiring a boat and skipper for the day from Nautica SicSic in Sorrento Porto Marina.

October 2018 - We were quite late in booking and it was also quite late in the season but the hosts were very obliging - picked us up from the station in Sorrento and helped us get to the supermarket for our first shop.
We enjoyed the villa a lot and would recommend it for a stay in and around Sorrento.
Pool looked inviting although for us the changeable weather meant we never got to test it.
I was very happy with the information that we receive and the instructions for the villa.
Travel tips
- Sant'Agnello is a good 20 mins walk to Sorrento but the buses run often enough between it and Sorrento itself.
- The villa is a ten minute walk from the shops but there is no public transport from the center of the town to the villa so if you are carting a lot of gear you might need the car. However, once in the town you can get either the bus into Sorrento or the train back to Naples. We got train / bus tickets from the travel agent on the corner of the square. There is also a tobacco vendor down the road on the right that sells tickets. The airport bus back to Naples goes from the square (heading in the Capri direction). It was 10 euros one way paid to the driver for the ticket.
- The owners have a dog but although it's big it's very soft.
- The owners were also very obliging. When we had to go to London for a funeral in the middle of the two weeks we had booked they helped us get to the bus and offered to let us stay a couple more days for free to make up for the ones we had missed (unfortunately we had to go back to work!).
- One last note - avoid trying to get on any buses at about half 1 to 2 as all the schools kick out and the Italian kids need to find their way home. They aren't great believers in queuing!

Travel tips
- Travel to Heculaneum, it's better than Pompeii. Use the train line that runs the length of the Sorrentine penisula. It's called the Circumvensuviana and only costs a few euros. Buy your tickets before getting to the station (travel agent in Sant'Agnello) as sometimes the ticket office is closed.

June 2018 - The villa and its owners were fantastic. A very enjoyable stay. We would certainly stay there next time we come to Italy.
Travel tips
- The worst thing about the immediate area around the villa is the lack of good bars and restaurants. And with a young child like we had walking to Sorrento was out of the question. However, the Circumvesuviana train service is fantastic value.

October 2017 - Villa Fillide B was absolutely perfect, the photos did not lie. The location is stunning. If all you want is peace and quiet this is the place.
We felt like this was our home from home for two weeks and would have so loved to have stayed longer. I actually shed a tear when it was time to leave.
Don't change anything, the personal service was brilliant. If we could we'd be back tomorrow!!!
Travel tips
- Transport links are excellent. 15 mins to Sant'Agnello station, 30 mins to Sorrento.
- Local shops include, butcher and three grocery stores, also the local bakery, which serves up freshly made pizza while you enjoy a beer.
- Tony's bar in the square is a must, when we said we couldn't find any fresh herbs, he jumped on his scooter, went to the local market and got us some!
- Seahorse transfers from Naples Airport 25 Euro pp each way was well worth it for door to door comfort.
- Car hire not necessary (and not advisable except for the brave).

October 2017 - Villa Fillide B was really wonderful and we enjoyed it very much. Everything you need is there.
The owners are very kind, congenial and cooperative persons, and we would like to see them again.
Thank you very much for the wonderful days in Sorrento!
It was the second time that I have booked holidays with Summer In Italy. And the two times we were very satisfied. Thank you!

- A very good place for dinner is Restaurant Taverna dell'800 in Sorrento. Nice ambience and very friendly owners.

June 2017 - If you want a true taste of Italy, away from the usual tourist hubbub, but still close to all the main towns and attractions then Villa Fillide B is for you.
Located about a 10 min stroll from the centre of Sant'Agnello and a 10 min drive to the centre of Sorrento, the villa is set in lush gardens overflowing with orange and lemon trees. The entrance road leading to the villa is initially off-putting but once at the villa, this is irrelevant.
Villa Fillide B is situated on the 1st floor of the main residence (the family live on the ground floor), with one other apt next door. The apartment is spacious, with a large living/kitchen area which also contains a double sleeping sofa. The kitchen is typical country Italian and is well equipped. The bathroom is a good size and has full bath and shower. The main bedroom is also large with double doors leading onto a wrap-around veranda which has table, chairs, sun-loungers and barbecue.
Overall the apt was very clean and comfortable. The owners were extremely friendly (limited English) and on hand if required but very discreet. They gave us oranges and lemons from the garden, so there was freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast and also some homemade wine and limoncello which was very good - these little touches made the the stay extra special.
There is a good size swimming pool with very comfortable sunbeds, situated in a lower level of the garden. There is also a large sunbathing area on the roof of the main house, with great views of Sorrento and the surrounding country side. There are also two other apts in a separate annex in the garden. Wi-Fi is also freely available.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Villa Fillide B and would definitely go back. Also, I found the staff at Summer in Italy extremely professional, efficient and friendly in our correspondence etc and would also recommend them for booking properties such as this :-)
Travel tips
- The supermarkets in Sant'Agnello are quite small - there is a large hypermarket at the motorway exit for Sorrento (also exit for Pompeii) and worth stopping here to stock up if travelling by car. There are larger supermarkets in Piano and Sorrento.
- It is possible to manage without a car as the bus and train links are close by.

June 2009 - Villa Fillide B is in a lovely suburb of Sorrento called Sant'Agnello, and is a 10 minute walk from the Circumvesuviana train station.
The villa itself is set in a lovely series of orange groves, and has a lovely pool which remains a sun trap until late in the day. The villa was perfectly adequate in terms of facilities and space for 5 people to live in for the week or so.
The owners live in the apartment below, and were always available to ask questions of, and were very helpful, friendly people. They even drove us from the train station to their house on our day of arrival/departure to help us with out bags. They also have a very friendly dog!
The view from the top terrace is fantastic, beautiful views of Vesuvius and the bay.
A fantastic apartment in lovely settings, great owners and a good location, as long as you're ok to walk at least 10 mins there and back every day.
Travel tips
- Apartment suitability: do be advised that walking to and from the villa from the town centre/buses/train stop does take a good 10 minutes, and the shortest route is over some steps and cobbles. You can get there by road, walking about 15 minutes. The apartment is on the first floor and has no disabled access. Anyone of moderate fitness will be fine, but the elderly should be careful and aware.
- Beaches: the nearest beach is at Meta, two Circumvesuviana stops towards Naples, but when you get off it's a 20 minute walk down to the beach. Easier to get the EAV bus over to Meta (orange ones in town centre running between Meta, Piano di Sorrento, Sant'Agnello and Sorrento, and out to Massa Lubrense) which goes all the way down to the beach. You have to pay 2.50 euros to get on, but there is a small free section which is the first bit you walk past on the left. There's a hotel lift back up the cliff for 30 cents on the left as you leave going back up the street, but the bus does come all the way down.
- Restaurants: Ciao Toto, at the top end of Via Crawford is definitely the best restaurant around. Brilliant food, lovely restaurant and staff. The restaurant at the far end of that street by the sea has gorgeous views, but the food is just ok, pasta cooked from frozen I think :-( Worth one evening or just a walk down for the fantastic view across the bay.
- Capri: worth a visit, but when you first arrive you'll think 'what was all the fuss about!' Ignore the blokes on the boat and by the port offering you island tours for a rip off charge. Easy to get around on the orange buses, which end up with you jam packed in like sardines, so if you need a seat, best to let others in front of you so you can be first on the next bus, as there's only about 10 seats on board, and a big gap in the middle where everyone stands. Cheap and convenient. We got one from Capri Town to AnaCapri, where we got the chairlift up to the highest point, good views, and a nice experience! From AnaCapri we got another bus to the Blue Grotto, which was far cheaper than getting the boats advertising 16 euros for a ride over from Marina Grande. This cost is only for the boat over, you still have to pay the men in the little boats 10 euros each to take you into the cave. So far better to get the bus over, and queue down the steps to the edge where they take you in through the tiny entrance! When they say duck down, they mean flat on your back. It's amazing to go in, but even better to swim, which they'll let you do for a bit extra each. Slight incident of the sleazy old men rowing the boats oggling over you, and they certainly enjoyed pulling us back into the boat afterwards! If you've got a man in the party, get him back in first then he can pull the others in to stop this happening! Other than these two activities, Capri isn't that different from the mainland, apart from being way pricier! Also the ferry over costs a bomb! 19 euros at 9.20am, but we got there at 9.10 and apparently it was too late, so we had to pay 27 euros to go with a faster boat, a rip off but what can you do?
- Pompeii: pretty amazing, but prices vary. Under 18s are free, under 25 Europeans are half price (5.50) and everyone else is 11. But TAKE ID!!! We had two 17 year old who were obviously English but as they didn't have their passports, it was the full 11 euros each, no matter how much we protested. You can go to Vesuvius from here for 14 euros rather than the 16 charged at Ercolano Vesuvio train stop, and come back to Pompeii too so you can kill two birds with one stone.
- Cable Car: get the Circumvesuviana to Castellammare di Stabia, and get a ticket from the train station to get the cable car up. Brilliant views, and feels more like Switzerland or Norway at the top with the little lodges. Still warm though! The walk to the church takes 50 mins according the the man in the station at the top, but actually it's 1.5 hours, and isn't really worth it. Once you get up that high, you can only see Positano if its not cloudy. You can see Sorrento well though. The view on the way up and down of Vesuvius and the bay is incredible. Definitely worth it and also quite cheap!
- Positano: get the train to Sorrento (2 minute journey) for frequent buses to Positano, takes about 1 hour. Try to remember the way back up to the bus stop, as there are millions of steps up and down the hills, and it's easy to get lost. Beach at the bottom is nice, as is the small restaurant close to where the boats come in.
