We loved our stay!
June 2023 - Lucia [the owner] was very helpful even picked my family up at the train station. She was very responsive and helped us with taxis and use the washing machine.
Summer In Italy was very helpful with answering questions quickly to help in planning my trip across Italy. I would definitely use the company again!!
Travel tips
- We loved trips to Sorrento for shopping and dinner and the short walk to local market and pizza restaurant we visited several times.
- We also took a taxi to hike at Termini and ferry to Amalfi coast towns. Very easy.

- The owners pointed us towards the local supermarket.
- A few nice restaurants in Sant'Agnello di Sorrento.

This is a beautiful property - extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean
June 2022 - This is a beautiful property - extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. Eating breakfast on our terrace every morning looking out to sea and mount Vesuvius was a real treat. The bedrooms are large, beds comfy and air con quiet and effective. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
Owners are unbelievably helpful but not intrusive in any way. A huge thank you for all their help and for such a wonderful holiday.
All staff have been extremely helpful. Would book with Summer In Italy again.
Travel tips
- Go to the official tourist information in Sorrento - really helpful and lots of advice and options.
- Would recommend Salboat for boat tour to and around Capri.

Beautiful surroundings
October 2018 - Villa Fillide A is a beautiful villa in beautiful surroundings with good view of the bay. The apartment is very spacious.
Travel tips
- Used the train for easy access on foot to visit all the historical sites under our own steam rather than being frog marched round at breakneck speed on an expensive trip.
- Don't get conned until a walking tour when you get off the train.
- Took the ferry to Amalfi to get the best view of the Amalfi coast.
- Sorrento is only about 30 min walk away and Sant'Agnello di Sorrento is much quieter.

The views are stunning
September 2018 - We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Villa Fillide A. The views are stunning, both of the surrounding hills and overlooking the sea towards Mount Vesuvius.
The owners were always available but never intrusive. We were given homemade marmalade, and limoncello (made from their own orange and lemon trees) and freshly picked aubergines and tomatoes. We would like to thank the owners for their warm and generous hospitality during our stay.
Summer In Italy web site and monthly newsletter are excellent. The web site is very informative and easy to understand. All staff are prompt with their communication. Keep up the good work!
Travel tips
- The main town of Sant'Agnello di Sorrento and railway station is a short pleasant walk away and Sorrento can be reached by foot in about 30 minutes.
- It is not very well advertised but do check out the nearby olive oil factory tour and tastings. It's free and a must for foodies! They have their own shop and you can get your purchases shipped to your own country at a very reasonable price.
- The 20 minutes uphill walk from the villa gives great views of the surrounding area. Sant'Agnello has plenty of excellent cafes and restaurants and amazing gelato and pastry shops.
- The railway runs from Sorrento to Naples giving you plenty of places to visit, e.g. Herculaneum (a must) and Pompeii.
- The station at Castellammare Di Stabia connects with the cable car taking you up to Mount Faito (another must): amazing views over the bay of Naples.

Good base to explore the Bay of Naples
August 2018 - We really enjoyed our recent stay at Villia Fillide A. The apartment was large, with a good sized balcony - giving a picturesque view over the Bay of Naples. The apartment was very clean and well presented. It does have a bit of a 70s style, with a small kitchen - but was perfect for our needs.
The villa is up the hill approximately 10 minutes from the centre of Sant'Agnello di Sorrento -- just be aware that the roads are quite busy with no pavements. The site is brilliant: a perfect escape from the grounds in Sorrento. A good sized pool and lots of shade sitting under the orange/lemon trees. A good base to explore the Bay of Naples. I would highly recommend Villa Fillide A and would return if we ever come back this way.
The owners were very friendly and helpful: on our first day, the owner drove us to the local supermarket for a "big shop".
Brilliant and super-quick communication. Will definitely use Summer In Italy when we return to Italy.
Travel tips
- You must go to the Pizzeria Bar L'Archetto just round the corner (super-cheap beer and pizza).
- The chicken and chips at Da Peppino in Sant'Agnello di Sorrento is another must.

May 2018 - Villa Fillide A is absolutely lovely. We all loved the balcony, terrace, garden and pool - perfect to return to after a day's adventures.
Lucia [the owner] was a wonderfully helpful host.
Summer In Italy was very helpful and informative.
Travel tips
- The apartment is in an excellent location for people who want to be close to but not in the centre, and who expect to walk and use public transport.
- The local gelateria/pastry shop is fantastic and conveniently situated on the walk back from Sant'Agnello!

Very good
July 2017 - We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Fillide A. The location is fabulous and from the terrace you can see Mt. Vesuvius.
The pool is lovely set in a garden of citrus trees. The kitchen is basic but this didn't spoil our stay. Everything was very clean.
I would stay here again.
Excellent service. I would book with you again.
Travel tips
- We did all the popular trips - Pompeii, Vesuvius and Herculaneum.
- We ate at the restaurant Donna Rosa a couple of times and had some lovely food and great service. Just down the hill from the villa is a pizza restaurant/bar that is very cheap.
- There is a supermarket in the village.
- I don't think I would want to stay here with very young children as there are stone steps from the villa to the pool.

October 2016 - We very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Fillide A, especially because of the following points:
1. lots of space
2. very welcoming and helpful host (thanks very much Lucia)
3. good location
4. amazing views
5. well kept pool
6. beautiful villa
7. lovely dog - Rolly (my daughter wanted to bring him home)
We were very impressed by how efficient, friendly and helpful you guys were so thank you very much indeed. We could not have been more pleased. We will definitely look to book through you again for our next trip to Italy. Keep up the good work!
Travel tips
- The pool is quite cold in mid-October (North facing)
- Good trips are Pompeii (by train), Vesuvius (by train + bus), Amalfi Coast (by bus). We would not recommend trying to catch buses from Sant'Agnello, as they are often full by the time they arrive there - the best bet is to get to Sorrento and go from there.
- The Moonlight restaurant in Sant'Agnello was excellent and is definitely worth a visit.

October 2016 - Villa Fillide A is a wonderful place to spend a week or more in the Sorrento area.
It lies well above the busy Corso Italia, yet is a comfortable walk to the amenities of Sant'Agnello, including shops and restaurants. The view from the balcony is superb, overlooking the bay with Vesuvius in full display.
Sant'Agnello itself is a great alternative to staying right in Sorrento, which is extremely busy and congested. And it is only five minutes away on the Circumvesuviana train.
Our hostess Lucia was warm and helpful and added to the pleasure of our stay.
I recommend the property highly.
Travel tips
- We engaged a car and driver to take us to Paestum and then back along the Amalfi Coast. Split four ways the cost is reasonable and makes the trip infinitely more pleasant. It was a very long day, so others may wish to leave Paestum for a separate trip.
- I would not go back to Capri unless I planned to spend at least several days. The typical lunch and Blue Grotto visit is not worth the time, but the island offers other attractions that require a more committed stay, preferably outside of the main Capri town, which is overrun.
- Spend some time just hanging out and relaxing, either on the balcony overlooking the pool, or in the lounges poolside. You will not regret it.
- In the evening, we enjoyed The Wine Bar (next to the church, great selections) and Da Peppino, a neighborhood trattoria.
- Don't drive here. There is no need and it will only give you agitation. Walking is the way to go, once you get used to the narrow streets and Italian motorists' brio.

October 2016 - The best term to describe Lucia and her husband and son is "gracious". We arrived very late at night but received a warm welcome along with pizza and fresh bread and coffee for the next morning. Lucia was more than happy to answer any questions we had and provided us with transport to Marina Piccola port in Sorrento so we could catch our ferry when the buses and train were not running.
The villa is located close to bus and train transportation while still being in the "country" in the middle of a citrus grove. The villa was immaculate and there were plenty of towels; the grounds are well kept and the pool, delightfully refreshing.
This is the second time I have used Summer In Italy, I can't see myself using any other company to handle my securing a vacation rental. All the staff I have had contact with have been friendly and helpful in answering questions. My daughter found your website and suggested I book our rental two years ago and again this year through you. I have not been disappointed.
Travel tips
- There's a small grocery store not to far from the villa, but it's closed in the afternoon and on Sunday. The Super O market near the train station is always open.
- We took day trips to Sorrento, Capri, Ischia, Amalfi, Herculaneum and Oplontis, all very easy to get to via ferry or train.
- If you like wine you'll love the wine shop on Via Marion Crawford just off Via Corso Italia, it's sold in 2 litre plastic bottles, great wine at a great price.

September 2016 - We had a wonderful holiday. The owners went out of their way to be helpful and ensure we had no problems. I would recommend this villa to anyone.
I was also impressed by the information and service provided by Summer In Italy. It was the first time we had travelled independently and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was made for us. I would definitely do it again. Thank you for all your help.
Travel tips
- A perfect place to stay if you want to see the historic sights of Italy.
- Don't miss the museum at Herculaneum. It is not mentioned in any literature but it is great and completes your visits to the sights. Do this last, when you can place what you are looking at.
- All sights easily accessed via the train very cheaply.

Travel tips
- If you are interested in ancient Roman buildings and you already have seen Pompei visit the Villa Oplontis. Very nice frescoes, no crowds and only half a hour ride by train. Exit Torre Annunziata (next stop after Pompei Scavi) and a 5 minute walk.

July 2016 - A brilliant place with a good price.
The location is peaceful. However the traffic in the street coming up from Sant'Agnello is dangerous so beware when walking there. The walk to Sorrento takes 40 minutes so if you just want to be in Sorrento, then this is not the ideal location.
Travel tips
- Try the roof top terrace. It has a magnificent view. We prepared a dinner for ourselves and ate it on the roof.
- The lemons in the garden were delicious.

August 2015 - We have just returned from a lovely stay at Villa Fillide A.
The accommodation was perfect for 6 of us and the additional toilet/shower area off of the kitchen was excellent. >The 2 bedrooms were large and the sofa bed in the lounge was big and comfortable. The villa was very well equipped.
The terrace was lovely, giving restricted views of The Bay of Naples and a lovely view of Vesuvius. A gas BBQ on the terrace was much used.
The villa was clean and the villa's owners were very nice indeed.
The swimming pool was very well maintained.
The villa was well situated for trips to Sorrento (where my daughter got married on the Wednesday!) and only a 30 minute train journey to Pompeii. If we visited the area again we would definitely stay at Villa Fillide A a second time.
Summer in Italy were extremely good and I would not hesitate to book through them again. I found them by chance on the Internet and was so pleased I did. All my emails were replied to promptly and queries I had were answered quickly. The booking process was very easy to use.
Travel tips
- We found the best way to get around was by the very reasonably priced train. A 10 minute walk to the train station in Sant'Agnello, which was then only 2 minutes on the train to Sorrento, or 30 minutes to Pompeii and 1 hour to Naples.
- The villa is situated up quite a steep hill which can be quite difficult in the hot weather, especially carrying shopping.
- A visit to the island of Capri is a must, ferries go from Sorrento Marina regularly throughout the day.
- We found the Blue Bar restaurant on the last night in Sant'Agnello, a lovely place with great choice of food all very reasonably priced.

July 2015 - We loved our stay at Villa Fillide A! The owners are very friendly, available when you need them, but never intrusive. The apartment is clean, spacious, and well equipped.
The pool area was sunny, with enough places with shade to escape the sun.
We have absolutely nothing but positive things to say about the apartment, and our stay in Italy
The pictures on the website do not do the place justice -- there is a wonderful view of Vesuvius.
We are very happy with everything provided.
Travel tips
- Rosticceria Peppino is a short walk away, with great value for the money.
- There is grocery store across the street from the restaurant, that is open continuously until 9.30 PM, as well as a good salumeria [selling cold cuts and staples] a few meters away from the apartment.

June 2015 - Villa Fillide A was a bright and cheery apartment. The landlady was extremely helpful and left plenty of information in the unit about area attractions.
We thoroughly enjoyed the apartment. We were pleasantly surprised with a bowl full of fresh fruit. The kitchen was well equipped with dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc.
The patio/terrace was beautiful. The grounds were meticulous and the pool was large and extremely clean. There was a washing machine available for our use.
The Villa is very secure, with two locking gates. The location is wonderful and one can easily walk to restaurants and the train and bus station.
Keep up the good work. The property was exactly as depicted. I would not hesitate to rent from your company again.
Travel tips
- Make sure you get to Pompeii and the Archaeological Museum in Naples. Both are easily accessible by the train in Sant'Agnello.
- Of course the bus ride to the Amalfi Coast is a must.

June 2015 - We really enjoyed ourselves, it was a brilliant base in Sant'Agnello and we relaxed so much, either by the pool or in the apartment.
The owner couldn't do enough for us, picking us up from the station and telling us the best places to eat and drink, and made it a fabulous week - the house is amazing and the grounds are so peaceful.
It is a very safe villa - four keys locked doors and gates before you got to the apartment - and very secluded so we didn't worry about our 2 and a half year old son running off or any traffic about.
Would recommend it to anyone, the sights from the rooftop are spectacular.
Travel tips
- It's a little out of the way but we love it - about a ten minute walk to the large supermarket but there is a bus which goes near the villa. Couldn't recommend it enough, away from all the hustle and bustle of Sorrento.
- If you are coming from Naples though and HAVE to get the train, try and get the 'blue' train - it's air conditioned! Otherwise if you get the one which stops at around 40 stops over an hour and 20 minutes, in stifling heat, it isn't fun!

July 2014 - We enjoyed Villa Fillide A very much.
The views very wonderful and we really appreciated the large air-conditioned bedrooms and plenty of space for storing clothes.
The owners were lovely and very helpful.
We found everything went very smoothly and as expected, thank you.
Travel tips
- Despite hiring a car we found it very easy and cheap to take the train when sightseeing (Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento and even Rome)and far less stressful!

April 2011 - Accommodation was amazing - the photos don't do it justice. Big, comfortable rooms with lovely balcony all the way around. Fantastic views all around, lovely setting, very clean.
Owners were so friendly and helpful but not intrusive.
Beware of water, there isn't enough to have a couple of showers in a row. Not a fault of the house though, there is a lack of constant hot water in general in Italy. [that is because of the way water is heated, in small boilers which need some time to re-heat once emptied]
Can easily walk to Sant'Agnello (about 10/15 mins), although not recommended for the elderly. It's a 25/30 mins walk to Sorrento - very easy walk. Restaurant, supermarket and little shops/coffee shops in Sant'Agnello.
Good local transport - we used buses, taxi, trains. Trains and buses very good value and easy to use - recommend over very expensive taxi.
The best bit - friendly owners, comfortable apartment, lovely views, nice area.
Wonderful experience, fantastic holiday, would definitely go back to Italy again.
You were very helpful in providing information on getting to the apartment from the airport. Many thanks. Overall very efficient and helpful. Easy booking and payment. Found you through Trip Advisor. Would use you again.
Travel tips
- Use public transport, it's easy and cheap to use.
- One of our favorites was a trip to the island of Capri. Amazing views and overall beautiful place. Take a walk from the town down to the Marina Piccola beach... stunning views.
