The villa was exceptional!!
June 2023 - The views from the terrace were just incredible. We all said that our favorite part of every day in Positano was waking up and having our morning coffee on the terrace. We had complete unobstructed views of all of Positano. The rooms were all extremely spacious with true queen or king beds (not two fulls pushed together) and the 4 upstairs bedrooms all had their own en suite bathroom and private terrace. The bedroom off the living room was extremely spacious and the bathroom was just across the hall.
I could not recommend the local staff enough. Chiara was our contact person and she had porters waiting for us when we got there and arranged any type of taxi or reservation that we needed. She was available 24/7. The housekeeper, Teresa, came and cleaned the house every day and brought fresh towels which was great. I also reached out early about having some wine and snacks ready we got there and they had everything waiting for us.
I would stay here again and again. It was also a super quick and easy walk to Fornillo Beach which was so much nicer and much less crowded than the Spiaggia Grande.

Beautiful villa, incredible terrace
July 2022 - I cannot say enough about our wonderful stay at the Villa Carinzia. We had to wait 2 years for the trip to happen because of the pandemic. It was definitely worth the wait!
The villa itself is beautiful, but the terrace was incredible. We would spend every evening on the terrace in awe of the spectacular view. We never tired of it!
The housekeeping staff did a great job everyday, and the manager was available to answer any questions we had about restaurants, transportation, etc.
Summer In Italy made our booking so easy. They answered all of our questions through email promptly. We had booked 2 years ago and they honored our booking with a voucher to be used when we could travel again. Luca was very professional and was a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend bookings with Summer In Italy!
Travel tips
- Definitely use the porters to carry the luggage to the villa, as stated by another reviewer it is well worth it.
- We highly recommend private boat excursions. We did one touring the Amalfi Coast and another around Capri.
- We enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet at Hotel Vittoria, which is very nearby.

Beautiful Villa Carinzia
October 2019 - From the moment we were met by Anna at the Grotto, then entered this fabulous villa, we were in awe. To wake up each morning to the phenomenal view, was beyond our expectations.
The villa itself was impeccable with all bedrooms well appointed with a view of the bay. Anna, the manager, and Melissa, the housekeeper took care of our every need. If you have trouble walking, this may not be for you as there is only one way to the villa and that is walking on a path that has quite a few steps up and down. We used a porter to take our luggage to and away from the villa.
We were a group of four couples. I would highly recommend this villa to any visitor to the Amalfi coast.

Beautifully appointed with spectacular views!
July 2019 - We had a fantastic stay at Villa Carinzia. As a family of five, there was more than enough room for all of us. Each bedroom is beautifully appointed and has spectacular views!
Our location was fantastic. We were in an area where we could walk to wonderful restaurants and stores. It is also conveniently located right above the smaller beach, where we spent several days enjoying our time in the sun and sand.
Anna [the owner] couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. She had great restaurant suggestions and made reservations or arranged transportation as we needed.
We were so sad to leave!! Can’t wait to go back to Positano and we would definitely use Villa Carinzia as our accommodations again!!

Perfect in every way
July 2019 - We thoroughly enjoyed Villa Carinzia. The views were incredible, everything was nice and clean, and there was so much space. The bedrooms with en suite baths were perfect for our group. Having a house keeper was a really nice addition as well.
The location was great as you could walk to all the shops and restaurants. The only downside I guess is all the steps to Fornillo beach but it is Positano after all.
We would definitely recommend this place and will come back again.
Summer in Italy was great. Made booking, check-in/out very easy. Anna was always there to assist and help recommend restaurants or activities and call ahead to make reservations. Would definitely recommend Summer in Italy to anyone.

It was an amazing week at the villa, everyone simply loved it
September 2018 - It was an amazing week at the villa, everyone simply loved it. We all totally enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the evenings, and we really enjoyed getting our massages under the trees in the beautiful garden.
I would highly recommend Villa Carinzia for any large group. There were 8 ladies on this trip and we all felt we had more than enough room for a comfortable stay. One more item I want to personally comment on is the extreme comfort of the beds. I cannot recommend this villa enough.
Our housekeeper was amazing, and she did a wonderful job. We all enjoyed her so much.
Summer In Italy were phenomenal. Any question I asked was answered promptly and professionally.
Travel tips
- We used the bus to get around Positano. If you use the Interno Positano bus for only 1.80 euro, it’s easy and cheap to get around the town.
- We enjoyed pizza from Restaurant Il Fornillo, and we had wonderful meals at Restaurant Mediterraneo.

Wow! This villa is fantastic
June 2018 - Wow! This villa is fantastic. You can't beat the view and the terrace and grounds are beautiful. Villa Carinzia exceeded our expectations.
Additionally, Maria Anna [the owner] was wonderful to work with. We contacted her several times and she was very responsive. She even helped us book two excursions!
Summer In Italy is great. I booked through you based on reviews that I read. I would definitely book through Summer In Italy in the future!
Travel tips
- Maria Anna assisted us in booking a half day boat charter for our group of 7. It was the highlight of our trip! We saw the Emerald Grotto and swam in a cave. -- We were originally supposed to go to Capri but it was too windy. We were not at all disappointed by our alternative route to Amalfi.
- The only thing that you need to be aware of is that there are many steps to go the beach or to town. I'm sure this is true of almost all villas in Positano. If mobility is an issue, this may not be the place for you.

The terrace is where you'll spend all your time!
June 2018 - Our group of 8 thoroughly enjoyed Villa Carinzia. The terrace is where you'll spend all your time! The views are stunning. Each of our 4 couples had their own private bedroom and bath. We didn't cook in but the kitchen has everything you need. Although the furnishings are somewhat dated, the villa met all of our needs. It was kept very clean with a housekeeper there each day.
The location is PERFECT. We were close to Fornillo Beach (our favorite), the bus stop and local shops. Overall, an excellent property!
The staff were all very responsive to our needs.
Summer In Italy was very responsive to all my emails filled with questions. I appreciated your quick answers.
Travel tips
- HINT: hire porters! There aren't many downhill steps to the villa but upon arrival, carrying my suitcase down was extremely taxing. We made sure we reserved the porters for our trip out.
- We used Amalfi Coast Transfers for the Naples airport pickup and return trip. We also used them for a day trip to Pompeii and a local wine tour. Their service and drivers were excellent!
- Highly recommend seeing Pompeii - fascinating!
- We used Blue Star Positano Boat Tours and Rentals for an all day boat trip. Although the weather didn't cooperate, we visited Capri and enjoyed the trip back. The waters were too rough to see the caves which was a disappointment but now we'll just have to come back!
- We rode the ferry to Amalfi for a day trip which was a very easy trip.
- We enjoyed Restaurant Il Ritrovo and Restaurant La Tagliata very much.

Simply perfect for our four couples
May 2018 - Villa Carinzia was simply perfect for our four couples. The terrace is simply fantastic with views that are exactly as pictured in the description. The kitchen was huge where 5 or 6 people could work at once and not get in each other's way. The bedrooms were great with plenty of room. The bathrooms were very good with plenty of space, hot water and towels. Simply put, we loved it!!!!
The maid service was the best we have ever experienced. The maid cleaned the house for hours each day as if it was her own family.
Summer In Italy was great to work with - nothing to improve - I would gladly rent with Summer In Italy again!!!
Travel tips
- One of the nice things about Villa Carinzia, is that for Positano there are few stairs.
- Walking to the main part of town is a 15-20 minute walk - but it will take longer due to the wonderful shops and restaurants along the way.
- Walking to the Fornillo Beach is hundreds stair steps down and up - but once there it is worth the walk. A rocky beach, but very pleasant.

We had a wonderful time
September 2017 - We had a wonderful time staying in Villa Carinzia for our daughter's wedding in Positano. The weather was constantly in the mid 20's which enabled us to enjoy the stunning view from the terraces every day.
Rosa, the cleaner, was very hard-working and friendly and kept the villa immaculate for us.
I would recommend booking a villa via Summer In Italy. I had many questions before our stay and there was always an answer to my e-mails within a couple of hours. First-class service!
Travel tips
- To reach Villa Carinzia is a 5-10 minute walk thru' narrow passageways with steps. I would advise taking the caretaker's advice and request a porter take your suitcases from the road to the door.

We had such a nice time!
September 2017 - We had such a nice time at Villa Carinzia! The house is so spacious and has amazing views! We spent most of our time out on the patio taking it all in. It's also convenient to the Via Fornillo bus stop which is great if you don't plan on bringing a car. And not too many steps to carry your luggage down! Really couldn't recommend it more.
Enzo and Maria [the caretakers] were so nice.
The staff at Summer In Italy were very very friendly and knowledgeable. Luca and Valeria were SO helpful with helping us plan our vacation. Would definitely book through them again.
Travel tips

August 2017 - We had a WONDERFUL stay at Villa Carinzia and many great memories.

I truly appreciated the friendly, professional, and responsive team at Summer In Italy. They made planning our trip to the Amalfi Coast extremely easy and stress-free! Grazie mille to the team!
Travel tips
- Although there are many wonderful restaurants nearby the villa, I highly recommend having at least 1 night to cook and dine in and use the amenities in the industrial kitchen. The dinner views from the terrace are just as amazing as the local restaurants!

Outstanding property
July 2017 - We thought Villa Carinzia was an outstanding property, managed brilliantly by Enzo and Rosa (we can't thank them enough for their help in arranging transfers). The location is a little challenging in getting luggage to the villa but that's Positano! Overall our stay at the villa was amazing.
Summer In Italy managed our booking very professionally - thank you.
“Yes, indeed -- future guests if you ever wondered whether there is an alternative at carrying your luggage up the stairs of Positano, the answer is a definite yes. The Positano Porters are there just for that: they move baggage and other heavy loads to (and from!) villas and apartments in Positano, for a fee! ;)„

No where else will you find views like this from each bedroom
June 2017 - This was a beautiful villa. There were 9 adults on this week long holiday. No where else will you find views like this from each bedroom. The birds chirping in the morning and the soft church bells in the distance were a beautiful way to start out the mornings. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare all meals. We had trouble with the large vent over the cook top working and within the day the property manager had it fixed. We cooked every night in the villa except one night. You will not be spending time inside but if you do it is very comfortable. There are 4 bedrooms up stairs. One of the bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. The other 3 bathrooms are directly across the hall from each bedroom. So not exactly en-suite but a none issue with our group. The downstairs bedroom uses a bathroom just off the kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the linens crisp and fresh. The outdoor space: we ate every meal at the large outdoor table on the terrace. This could be amazing with several more seating spaces arranged (there are 4 collapsible canvas lounge chairs).
Rosa, the housekeeper was very sweet and was in and out in a flash.
Summer In Italy was by far the most amazing company I have ever used! They were attentive to every thing I needed and asked. Their response was always within 24 hours and most times within minutes. They go above and beyond the normal expectations. An example is, at the last minute one couple missed a flight and the driver needed to be notified. This was at 8:00 pm at night and we were out to dinner with friends. I didn't have my information on me but sent a quick note to Luca and they in turn notified the driver of the last minute change. Amazing! I will continue to use this company for any future travel and recommend them to all of my friends.
Travel tips
- This is a place where you will need to be able to walk! Everything is either up or down many steps. We walked down into the town several times and found taking the road was easier then the hundreds of steps down.
- This is a location like none other in the world. Our groups average age was mid 60's, a few with physical limitations. This isn't a place to jump in the car and take a spin to explore. It requires a lot of walking up and down steps. So just plan accordingly.
- You will find many great little cafes and restaurants.
- We had 2 rental cars and there was a parking lot that we used for the week near the “Grotta del Presepe” (Nativity Grotto). The cost was €175/week per car.
- We took a few day trips: Sorrento, Pompeii, Ravello, Paestum. Be prepared for a slow drive along the coast.
- One couple took the ferry to Amalfi then a bus up to Ravello. They enjoyed this trip.
- You can get about anywhere in the area via ferry, bus and train.
- The ferry cost to Sorrento was round trip €40, a bit pricey. To Amalfi €20.
- For sure book a Porter to take your luggage down on check-in and up when leaving. We paid about €10/per bag. Be sure to negotiate a price before hand. I think they know that some have no idea what to pay and as in our case after taking down many bags and groceries the conversation went like this, Us: "What is the price?" Porter: "€100" Us: "That is too much, €50" Porter: "€60" That price we agreed on. Point being… Don't just take the first number given. Most people after walking to the villa would be happy to pay anything to not have to carry your luggage down and up the steps!

Amazing views
May 2017 - We loved our stay at Villa Carinzia.
Enzo [the caretaker] was so helpful to do some grocery shopping and have the villa stocked upon our arrival. He also helped us order (and have delivered) local buffalo mozzarella, limoncello and wine!
Rosa [the maid] was friendly, kind and even offered to help with our laundry. We felt very spoiled all week!
Our most favorite part of the villa was the terrace; we spent hours every day and night just enjoying the amazing view.
The booking process was straight-forward and easy. All of my questions and requests were answered and addressed quickly and professionally. I will not hesitate to use Summer in Italy the next time I'm booking a villa rental in Italy.
Travel tips
- Our favorite restaurants near the villa were Il Fornillo, Saraceno d'Oro and Vincenzo's. We also had a fabulous meal at Donna Rosa's in Montepertuso.
- Our favorite excursions included hiring a private boat for the day to explore the coast line and an afternoon visit to Capri and hiking the Path of the Gods.

September 2016 - We loved Villa Carinzia! The house was well equipped, clean and perfect for our group of 4 couples. The outdoor space was everything and more than the pictures portray. The views were stunning and you could spend your entire vacation on the terrace and be perfectly content. The villa is on the Fornillo Beach side of Positano so it's a bit of a walk (and a lot of stairs) to get to the Spiaggia Grande and the ferry, but we loved the villa and would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful
September 2016 - Villa Carinzia is beautiful. Spacious and well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed and the washing machine was an added bonus. The views are spectacular and can be enjoyed from numerous terraces.
Working with Summer In Italy was a pleasure. I used online chat and email to communicate and your responses were fast, friendly, and professional. Questions were answered quickly. And while at the villa you helped with communication between us and the owner when we had an issue with the Wi-Fi. We ultimately booked through your company because the communication was so good prior to making our reservation.
Travel tips
- The walkway down to Villa Carinzia has approximately 25 stairs. I would highly recommend hiring the Positano Porters to move your luggage.

Sensational villa
September 2016 - We were Aussie couples at Amalfi Coast for the first time. Choosing Positano and Villa Carinzia was the best thing we did! Sensational villa. Great, great balcony - so big, with bonus garden below. And the view from each bedroom was even more wonderful. It is in a terrific location, all the nearby restaurants were lovely. Villa Carinzia was in a lovely condition and we had maid service during our stay. Couldn't choose a better villa in Positano for a large group.
Your villa has everything you could wish for, no improvements necessary!
Would definitely use Summer In Italy again. Very easy to deal with and great service. Villa Carinzia was all the web site promised and more.
Travel tips
- Did the Walk of the Gods from Nocelle to Praiano - WOW. Took bus to Nocelle. Walk was on uneven ground but very manageable. Only hard part was the walk down the steps to Praiano at end. But well worth doing.

Having a maid cleanup was a real treat. Nothing was too difficult for Rosa.
Summer In Italy service and follow up was great. Keep up the good work.
Travel tips
- Make sure you have small suit cases as the path to the villa might be difficult.

Like living a dream!
July 2016 - We loved our stay at Villa Carinzia, and hope to return. The views is dreamy and it's really big! Our group was 3 couples and a single - we each had our own bedroom and bathroom, with one of each to spare. The beds were comfortable and water hot. Not all rooms have showers, but plenty of them do. The kitchen was easy to use, and the chef we brought in one night liked it a lot. We liked the common spaces and were also able to have our own space if we wanted. Having the clothes washer was terrific, as we were all going on to a week + more of travel, and clean clothes was nice. The terrace and garden are wonderful to hang out in - better than most restaurants. Coffee every morning on the terrace looking over the bay of Positano and the Villa Carinzia gardens was a special part of our trip. Pictures are accurate - it's a beautifully decorated place with space for all. I highly recommend Villa Carinzia with it's fabulous views - lovely! It was like living a dream.
Management is wonderful. Once we arrived, Enzo, the property manager availed himself to us and was helpful in getting us what we needed. A broken coffee carafe was replaced in less than a day (just an example). Also, the friendly lady who cleaned every day was cheery and took great care of us and keeps the house perfect.
During the many months between booking and vacation, Summer In Italy was always quick to respond with answers and helpful suggestions. Everything was great. I really appreciate all the links on your site. I also appreciate all the round the clock answers and suggestions - thanks for helping make our vacation wonderful. I did a lot of research to find a really nice, big villa at a reasonable price. Your assortment was good. Then, you were attentive and responsive as we were making our choices. Your safe payment methods were important to us, and obviously legitimate. Your site is good. All the photos are very important, as are the descriptions. This is a big decision, and you have an excellent site. Again, I have to come back to Alfano and Luca and Andrea for all the help.
Travel tips
- Have Enzo [the caretaker] help hire you a porter to take your luggage up when you leave - too many steps!
- We only hired a chef one evening to cook for us at the villa, but should have done it more so that we could enjoy more meals there.
- Get tips for take-out and live the dream in "your" villa.
- We'd walk into town to shop, eat or catch a boat, then take a bus back uphill.

Lovely quiet villa overlooking the sea
June 2016 - We enjoyed Villa Carinzia with our grown children and their spouses, a lovely quiet villa overlooking the sea. We really enjoyed the outdoor tented terrace. The outdoor spaces are spectacular and very private. The four younger couples each had a bedroom upstairs with their own bath and balcony. We took the first floor bedroom that did not have a private bath, so we used the bathroom off the kitchen. The villa was a good value for the price we paid.
Rosa the maid was there daily and was such a pleasure! Very friendly and helpful.

Keep doing what you do because you do it beautifully, thank you Summer In Italy! Arrivederci!
Travel tips
- Everything is beautiful on the Amalfi Coast. Your eyes will be glazed over the entire time.
- Always catch bus at the Grotto (up from the villa) to go anywhere in Positano. From the villa to top of the road at Grotto is about 10 min walk up steps and pathways.
- There is a local "Interno" bus that just goes around Positano.
- Private drivers are better to take outside Positano such as Amalfi or Ravello. Most of them speak english.
- Ferry to Capri directly from the Spiaggia Grande in Positano. The villa is about 15-20 minutes from the Spiaggia Grande, so bus ride and walking to the ferry.

October 2015 - We had the most magnificent time... could have spent the whole week on the terrace but forced ourselves to walk, walk and walk to discover all the joys of Positano!
Enzo and Rosa [the caretakers] were so attentive and dealt with all our queries with humour and integrity. Being in the middle of other homes down quaint cobbled streets was enchanting and we would highly recommend this spot to anyone.
Summerinitaly is a great company to deal with, always willing to go the extra mile and leaving no stone unturned in an effort to sort out any problems. Thank you... we will be back!
Travel tips
- As there was a large group of us, 7-9 people, needing transport at times, we hired chauffeur driven transport. It is definitely the way to go, they collect you at the grotto of Fornillo which is a short, good for you walk from the villa, and drop you off there at the end of your trip. Painless and pleasant as you are free to take in the sights, which are amazing!

May 2015 - This place was amazing. Everything about the villa was perfect and we can't wait to return.
Mr Enzo was so lovely and helpful. He gave us lots of useful tips and advice in terms restaurants and how to get about. We were really grateful that he was so accommodating.
The Summer in Italy team were so helpful right from the outset and I immediately liked their professional approach. There was always someone on hand at any time to answer my questions. I would definitely book with Summer in Italy again. 5 service. Thank you!
Travel tips
- We would recommend this villa to everyone and it is perfectly placed. The only thing I would say is that the area is not really child friendly because of the number of steps you have to climb everyday. It was a bit tricky getting the luggage from the main road to the road but the villa owner was very helpful and said we could pay 5 Euros for a porter, however we managed ok.
- All the local restaurants were lovely and reasonably priced for the Med.
- We hired a boat from Barbara's cruises to tour the Amalfi Coast, which was amazing and really worth doing.
- The local bus is easy to use at a few Euros but we enjoyed the walk.
