Loved it! Great location, spectacular view and plenty of space

October 2024 - We loved Villa Beniamina! The view was spectacular. There was 8 adults in our party and there was plenty of room for everyone. The location was great, walking distance to many great restaurants, and the beach.

Danila, our host was very responsive to our needs and questions. She was so friendly and helpful.

Summer In Italy was recommended to us by friends who had booked with them in the past. We found Summer In Italy very easy to book through and work with. They were very prompt in responding to our inquiries and they always sent reminders of upcoming payments or other information needed to make our time at the villa enjoyable. I would not hesitate to book with them again.

Highly recommend it!

July 2023 - Beautiful villa close to Sorrento! We loved sitting on the many porches and enjoying the great view of the sea.

We were able to walk to it from the train station and also was able to walk to several restaurants in Sant'Agnello di Sorrento.

Highly recommend it!

Travel tips

  • We enjoyed the close beach and recommend walking down instead of paying for the lift.

The view was fantastic and the location the same, really loved the villa

June 2023 - My family and I really loved the villa. We had come there from a stay in a Siena hotel, so it was nice to be able to spread out in the house (there was 7 of us) but yet gather together on the terraces. The view was fantastic and the location the same. Great restaurants in walking distance.

Danila [the caretaker] was very responsive to any of our needs.

Summer In Italy was great. If we get back to Italy, we would definitely use again.

Travel tips

  • Because the villa overlooks the promenade, at times in the late evening, it could get a bit noisy. But the views from the terrace is breathtaking.
  • The hotel Villa Garden next to the villa, is fabulous .
  • The cafe at the end of the promenade, is a great place to have coffee in the morning on the deck of the restaurant.

Beautiful villa perfectly located

June 2023 - We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Villa Beniamina! The villa is beautiful, elegant, stocked with necessary items and perfectly located. We found it quite hard to leave this beautiful villa. We highly recommend it!

Luca and the staff at Summer In Italy were fantastic... Professional, friendly and responsive. They provided us with timely and thorough information about the villa, as well as timely reminders. We highly recommend using Summer In Italy for your next trip!

Travel tips

  • The villa is an easy 12 minute walk from the train station. It is a one minute walk to the bus from the villa. We took the bus to the ferry port to go to Capri and Positano. We took the train to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. Easy day trips from the villa!

Great base for our stay in the Amalfi Coast, loved it!

April 2023 - Loved this place. We were a group of 6 adults and the villa made a great base for our stay in the Amalfi Coast. About a mile walking to train station was easy. The villa is a real special treat to stay in with plenty of charm from the glory days of the 60's. It was a real treat to stay in such an amazing villa, with 14 foot ceilings, 1 and 2 foot thick walls, original windows and shutters, directly on the coast with balconies overlooking the whole coast and Mount Vesuvius. Would love to come back some time.

Thanks so much for opening you villa for us to enjoy. It was amazing to see its charm and I especially enjoyed it being original and preserved. We all wish you well when you decide to retire in the area and can imagine the villa when you bring it back to life. Everything worked well for our group and had no issues. Loved visiting with your cleaning lady as it helped us settle in. We all live in wonderful homes in California with vacation homes in the mountains. Your villa gave us an exciting glimpse into Italy's wonderful culture. Thanks again.

Summer In Italy did the most amazing job we have ever experienced. They held our funds through the Covid crisis, and helped us reschedule after (VRBO stiffed us and kept our money on other reservations). Their communication is unmatched and nothing like VRBO and the others. They answered emails immediately, gave us suggestions, helped us settle into the property, and were easy to communicate with. Great job Luca and your team.

Travel tips

  • We hired a personal chef for one night for an amazing evening.
  • Loved the restaurants next door with balcony overlooking the bluffs.

Amazing house in a fantastic location

July 2022 - Fantastic location and view. Plus, the house is amazing in itself. There are so few villas immediately on the coast like this in Sorrento so this is a special place.

Being so special, many locals and also weddings next door come out to enjoy this location too which makes it quite lively most nights. That’s not too much an issue but since the villa does not have air conditioning [it was actually installed in 2023], you must sleep with windows open which makes it less fun.

But once you have your coffee or a limoncello on that deck overlooking the water, you will forget about your lack of sleep and fall in love with Sorrento.

Everything worked out well. I’d be happy to book another villa next time.

Future guests, please kindly note that air conditioning in the bedroom has been installed in 2023 😊

Travel tips

  • The nearby beach club was a fun place to cool off during the day.
  • Be sure the car you want to park in the garage is small. It’s a very tight entry.

The location, overlooking the sea, is outstanding

November 2019 - Villa Beniamina is spectacular! The location, overlooking the sea, is outstanding. The train station and grocery store are a short half-mile walk. We always felt completely safe walking.

The villa is equipped with everything you would need for a perfect vacation. We appreciated the washing machine, the big screen TV in the living room. The view from the roof top terrace is outstanding. We could see Mount Vesuvius. We also appreciated the maid service three times per week. We were provided clean sheets and towels half way through our ten day stay.

The owner was very responsive to our needs, and speaks fluent English.

Summer In Italy is a great company - lots of communication before the trip.

Travel tips

  • The day trip to the Amalfi Coast was an outstanding experience.
  • We easily walked to Sorrento several times. There we took a ferry to Capri.
  • We very much wanted to see the Capri's Blue Grotto but were informed the tide was too high for a visit. We didn't know that it was important to go in the morning.

October 2019 - The villa is exceptional. It's location / view is unbeatable.

The hosts are wonderful.

We came two years ago and told so many stories about how much we liked it, that different friends wanted to go to the area and stay in that very villa. It was as special the second time as the first.

The villa it self was fantastic along with the outstanding views. I loved everything about it!

July 2019 - My entire family had a most wonderful stay at Villa Beniamina. It is very close to shopping, restaurants, the Sorrento beach and Piazza Tasso.

The villa it self was fantastic along with the outstanding views. I loved everything about it!

The villa has a beautiful terrace with the most beautiful sunset over the Bay which we made it a point to view from the upper terrace every evening with some appetizers and drinks... Amazing!

The highlight of the villa was Maria [the caretaker]. She made everything so very easy. She met us and explained the villa upon our arrival. She also offered chef service which we took advantage of one evening. The shopping, the cooking, cleanup and food prep with amazing presentation and flowers was there for us when we arrived back from Positano.

I would book with Luca from Summer In Italy again. He was very responsive and wanted to be sure that everything was understood. He and his crew always stayed in touch before our arrival to be sure that everything went smoothly.

Travel tips

  • There is a grocery store that's a 5 minute ride away if you want some essentials.
  • There are also hotels and restaurants nearby for dinner. The boutique hotel next door was wonderful for a breakfast (if you don't want to cook) and a drink on the terrace.
  • We loved going to the Piazza Tasso later in the evening for a gelato. It was very lively at night with everyone eating, drinking, walking and just enjoying themselves.
  • Our trip would not have been so smooth without our outstanding driver Antonio. I cannot say enough good things about him. He was always very accommodating, pleasant, on time, knowledgeable, and would accommodate your travel needs no matter what time of day or night or how many times you called for a ride... Plus his rates were reasonable. Sometimes we had planned times set up with him and at other times we called him spontaneously. No matter, he always made it work. I would highly recommend him for services from around Sorrento to driving you and your group to the other towns and cities (as we did) to and from at a set time. He made our time there very easy.

Wonderful old world home with lots of charm

June 2019 - Villa Beniamina was exactly the experience I wanted for my families trip to Sorrento. It was a wonderful old world home with lots of charm.

Plenty of room for everyone and property is exceptional. Especially the location. We just could not get enough of the spectacular view...

Maria [the caretaker] who met us at the property could not have been more gracious and accommodating.

Because of its location, for us it was very special as we were able to visit with my husbands family and make wonderful memories. We definitely will return.

The booking process was very easy and the agents provided excellent assistance.

Travel tips

  • The walk into the town of Sant'Agnello di Sorrento is lovely.
  • Sorrento itself is great to walk around as well but a bit further of a walk... maybe 20 minutes.
  • Parking in the area is difficult so walking or bus is a better way to get around if you can.
  • Plenty of good restaurants within walking distance and also a beautiful church right down the block.
  • If you want to tour Amalfi or Positano you can drive but they do have ferries to take you from the port in Sorrento to these destinations.

Fabulous villa overlooking the water.

May 2019 - This villa has views that are just as good, if not better than the priciest hotels along the coastline of Sorrento. Spacious rooms with comfortable beds. We loved the roof top view of the sunset for our cocktail hours overlooking the sparkling blue waters as we gazed at Mount Vesuvius, Pompei and the Isle of Capri.

We were a party of 8 (4 couples) and the villa fit our crowd perfectly.

Spacious and charming

May 2019 - Great location with an ocean view from the balconies and rooftop terrace. Very spacious with vintage charm, a lovely garden, and a newly updated kitchen that was a joy to use.

It was close to excellent restaurants, public transportation, and grocery stores. The service was superb, including a friendly relationship with a neighboring hotel which offered invaluable recommendations and assistance.

It was easy to book with SummerInItaly.com, I plan to use it when booking my next visit to Italy.

Travel tips

  • The hotel next door offers excellent breakfast and evening meals. There are other equally fine moderately-priced restaurants in the neighborhood, such as Moonlight, Il Capanno, Il Ruttino.

A property full of character and charm

April 2019 - We really enjoyed staying at Villa Beniamina. It is a property full of character and charm. The rooms are large, the ceilings very high, and with the wonderful stairwell, hallway and landing - it feels very grand.

The fact that it is an older property means that some aspects are not in the best order, the floors in some bedrooms for example have loose tiles and the upstairs bathrooms are a bit tired. The owners have recently refurbished the kitchen which although quite small was lovely. There is a garden with lemon trees and plenty of shade on a hot day.

The overall impression is of a delightful property in a lovely location.

The views from the villa are amazing! The area outside the villa has a bench and people come to sit and admire the scenery. The downside is that on warm nights young people often congregate outside, playing music and making a noise, making it hard to sleep in the front bedroom. The refuse collectors also make noise in the early hours which could make sleep difficult if you are a light sleeper.

Maria the caretaker is a great asset, she is extremely responsive should anything need sorting out and comes in during the week to clean. She is a warm, friendly person and helped to make our stay very comfortable.

Summer In Italy have been great, very helpful and responsive to all questions.

Travel tips

  • There is a supermarket about a 15 min walk away near the train station in Sant'Agnello di Sorrento.
  • A walk into Sorrento takes about 30 minutes, there are buses.
  • There is parking for one car at the villa, within the property, and more parking nearby - a ticket needs to be bought and displayed as it is regularly patrolled by traffic police.
  • There are bars and restaurants nearby and less expensive ones away from the front.
  • Before the arrival you will receive travel information detailing how to get there using public transport from the airport.

September 2018 - This place was grand and charming. It was very large and beautiful. The outdoor space was amazing and the views spectacular. We were 3 couples on vacation together and we were able to relax and visit the surrounding area because we felt centrally locates.

Absolutely no problems with Summer In Italy. Feedback was quick and helpful.

Travel tips

Set in the most stunning location

July 2017 - Villa Beniamina is set in the most stunning location. Many of the local restaurants and hotels charge a fortune to sit or stay to savour that same view. The villa is enormous with plenty of space for a large group. It is a period property and has that old world charm. The villa is kept very clean with 3 weekly visit from the housekeeper and the beds are also very well laundered. We loved having a choice of balconies/terraces to us as the day, sunlight progressed. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

The owner and house keeper are extremely friendly and helpful.

Summer In Italy were fantastic, they made everything easy for me to book and pay for the holiday. Their correspondence was fast and always helpful. They made additional arrangements for us when we needed to stay another day due to flight difficulties. I would definitely use them again. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • The local supermarket is a 15/20 minute walk away and closes in the middle of the day. So bring some provision of food / drink if you arrive at 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon like us.
  • The Wi-Fi only works on the ground floor due to the thick walls of the old house.
  • Taxis into nearby Sorrento charged € 20 or more!
  • We went to Pompeii very easily and cheaply. Get on the Circumvesuviana train at Sant'Agnello di Sorrento, straight to the Pompeii stop, € 4.90 return only. The entrance fee was € 13. It is a steep slippy walk to get into the sight, as the granite path is so worn. We went about 5 pm when there were no crowds and it was cooler.
  • Some young locals do gather at the view point at the front of the villa and can stay late being very loud.
  • Restaurant Moonlight is very good as are other local eateries that are within walking distance of the villa.
  • Sorrento was super busy and thronging with hundreds of tourists. We were there in July. Sant'Agnello di Sorrento, where the house is, was less populated with tourists.

The sea views are absolutely stunning, particularly at sunset

June 2017 - Our three generation family stayed at Beniamina and we absolutely LOVED the house! The interior of the home is lovely with beautiful marble and tile work, comfortable spacious bedrooms and lots of indoor and outdoor space for congregating. The sea views from the house are absolutely stunning, particularly at sunset. The location is absolutely perfect for an Amalfi Coast visit.

Maria, who comes in and cleans, could not be nicer or more helpful - we all adored her. And the landlord was there to greet us warmly on arrival. The house is older (which is why it is so special) and we had one small issue with on outlet for the dishwasher. I contacted the landlord and within a couple of hours Maria showed up with an electrician who fixed it immediately. I was surprised and delighted with that level of responsiveness. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home.

Booking through Summer In Italy was seamless. Luca was extremely helpful and the only surprise was that the house was even more lovely than the pictures showed it to be.

Travel tips

  • Sant'Agnello is charming and has plenty of really good restaurants within close walking distance.
  • We walked into Sorrento several times and while it's a little bit of a hike it was fine for my 76 year old parents.
  • We found it easy to make day trips to Positano, the Isle of Capri and even Rome.
  • The isle of Capri is a must see. We booked a tour that included a boat ride around the island (which was my favorite part).
  • Positano is also incredible. We took a tour bus from Sorrento into Positano and I thought it was work a few extra bucks for the air conditioning and comfy seats.
  • The restaurant at the end of the street (by where you walk down to the beach) is wonderful!
  • We also enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Restaurant Moonlight, a few blocks away.

The location was perfect

October 2016 - We had an incredible stay with our Family of 8. Villa Beniamina was very special: an old "Mansion" style villa with neat character. Dinners on the upper terrace were beautiful and provided 360 degree views of the sea and the surrounding city and mountains. The location was perfect, walking distance to downtown Sorrento, with plenty of shops and restaurants close by. The location and view was spectacular. Highly recommend this location and will definitely come back for another stay.

The owner, Mr Renato was wonderful and very helpful in getting us connected with local stores and tours. He met us and walked us through everything we needed. Thank you for allowing your home to other people. It is a special experience and you were a wonderful host.

Excellent communications with Summer In Italy and easy to plan our trip working with your team. Received very quick responses when we had questions or needed guidance.

Travel tips

  • Rent a private boat for a day to visit Capri. This was one of the highlights of our trip. Mr Renato recommended Sorrento Relax Charter and it was fantastic. Dario was our Captain for the day and he was a perfect host. Got to see so many locations around Capri that you would not see on a larger boat with many more people.
  • Local restaurant, "Moonlight" was great and a very short walk right up the street.
  • Also, a must is La Tavola di Lucullo. Ask for Tony. We had 2 incredible meals there and loved the atmosphere.

Perfect for our family!

May 2016 - My responses are very much in a 'for us' mode. Villa Beniamina was perfect for our family who were in Italy for a very special wedding. The villa is a true 'vintage lady' and quirky (as are we)... Be prepared for her electrics and plumbing. Treat her gently. The 'vintage lady' villa was immediately taken to our hearts. We enjoyed the space. Exactly the right eclectic mix of venue for our very mixed aged party. Every new addition said 'Wow' or 'This is great'! My heartfelt thanks go out to all who helped make it possible.

Our hosts were generous with their help in accommodating our various needs. Keep being as kind as you are already. :)

Thank you Summer In Italy staff for navigating me around. Ciao, till our next visit... (I dream).

Travel tips

  • Found the bus at the end of the street (near the church on the corner) where a private company bus (Artecard won't work) takes you to Sorrento town or down to the port there: EUR 1.20, the timetable at the bus stop doesn't relate to this service.
  • The heart of Sant’Agnello is a ten minute walk up Viale de Pini, where there are shops, train station and more.
  • Taxis (when you have full bags back) shouldn't but do vary for the trip, charged EUR 10-15 as of May '16.
  • Talk to your host if you have mobility needs... On first sight, he realized ours and kindly helped.
  • La Marinella, the nearest small beach, has a lift down to it.
  • Nearest pizza place very good but after 7 in May.
  • Good for day trips to Herculaneum, we preferred it to Pompeii.
  • Enjoy!

July 2015 - We had a great time at Villa Beniamina. The views of Mount Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples are fantastic, and we'd drink limoncello or wine most nights from the roof deck or the upper porch.

The owners made sure we had everything we needed.

Travel tips

  • The garage is small (one medium-sized car will have a tight squeeze), and we ended up parking our two cars on the street (which requires running to a machine and getting a parking receipt for daytime parking). We paid for parking on a daily basis as we weren't sure if we'd be at home any given day. In retrospect, it would have made more sense to buy parking for the entire week and not have to run out every morning by 8:00 a.m. to get another receipt.
  • The views are so great on our street that it's a bit of a "lovers' lane." Each night people are there taking in the view (among other things), and wedding parties would frequently drop by for photos. It was no big deal, though. We'd continue to sip our limoncello behind the gate and above the fray.

May 2015 - The villa is in a magnificent location with fabulous views. We loved sitting on the terrace watching the sun set over the bay of Naples.

There were lots of deck chairs and tables if you want to sit outside. The kitchen was well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher -- with the appropriate powders and tablets so you don't have to buy them -- and all the dishes, glasses and cutlery you could need. The free wifi was helpful.

It was great that three times a week two friendly and efficient cleaners came in to tidy up, clean the bathrooms and make the beds.

We didn't have a car but there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, food shops, etc. within walking distance. The bus around the corner takes you right into the center of Sorrento.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it highly.

I found the Summer in Italy staff very helpful. I would definitely use the site again to find holiday accommodation.

Travel tips

  • Don't assume that the bus times into Sorrento (from outside the Hotel Mediterraneo) are accurate. You can walk into Sorrento easily.
  • If you don't have a car make sure you get the number of a local taxi. We found when we went grocery shopping we had far more than we could carry so needed a taxi. Trying to find one out on the street was not easy.

  • Some of us had a great time diving near Sorrento.

November 2012 - Positives: excellent position and views, beautiful decor in early twentieth century style villa.

Negatives: could do with some modernisation (eg. wiring, kitchen facilities, hot water system)

Took a bit of getting used to: housemaid comes 3 times per week, starting at 7.00 am! Lovely lady!

Emma, the housemaid, is a charming old lady. She is unobtrusive and tries to be very flexible. Feel free to speak to her about your wishes, and she might be able to accommodate your desire!

Fantastic

October 2012 - There were 3 couples in our party and we all thoroughly enjoyed Villa Beniamina.

The location on Naples bay was wonderful. It was a 20 minute walk into Sorrento. Sant'Agnello was a wonderful community to explore as well.

The villa is huge and allowed us to each have our own space.

This organization, Summer In Italy, was wonderful to work with. They were very efficient throughout the whole process. The staff are very customer oriented and always very responsive.

Travel tips

  • Do not be put off by the kitchen. Although outdated, it functions very well.
  • We enjoyed a local restaurant, Taverna Rossa which is a 10 minute walk from the villa. It was excellent.

Very good

July 2012 - Villa Beniamina is awesome.

Although we were in the middle of a heat wave, I would not have traded staying at the villa for any amount of A/C.

Loved being so close to Sant'Angello, and Sorrento wasn't far at all. Perfect, perfect, perfect hub for travel around the area. We even took a bullet train to Rome for a day, which was awesome.

We had a party of 7 and spent a tremendous amount of time on the balcony talking, which was wonderful. I will warn you, though, the view over the cliff in front of the villa is VERY popular with the locals, who are very... open in their affection with one another, let's just put it that way. They come around at all hours, so if you have trouble sleeping, ear plugs might be very useful. But all that being said, the villa, the location, it was everything I could have hoped. The views are MAGNIFICENT.

I would (I will!) absolutely recommend Summer In Italy to anyone who wanted to visit.

Travel tips

  • DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT attempt to drive in Italy. You do not need a car to get around, it will be next to impossible to park it anywhere other than the villa, and you will make yourself miserable (or mad with fear) trying to drive in Italian traffic. Not to mention, if you're trying to drive, you are missing the views, which are excellent.
  • Go to the gelateria in Sant'Angello as often as possible. It's sooooo good, and very reasonably priced. We went to the recommended Gelateria Primavera in Sorrento, and it wasn't any better, although it was ALOT more expensive.
  • The supermarket in Sant'Angello is open most of the time, including the typical siesta period.
  • I would recommend taking the back way through the alleys to get to Sant'Angello (just go straight past the church behind the villa instead of turning left to go to Sant'Angello and bear left, you'll eventually get there). It's very pretty and shady, and you'll also pass a nice restaurant very close to the villa called Moonlight.
  • Another great restaurant nearby is Capanno's. It's awesome. Ask the housekeeper, who is wonderful, about it and other places to eat.
  • Make sure you go to Pizzeria di Franco, which is behind Parco Lauro in Sorrento. BEST. PIZZA. EVER. Have the Diavola.
  • I took Rick Steve's Italy guide with me, and it was well worth it for the Sorrento/Naples part. Although I have to say, I had the 2011 version, and prices had gone up tremendously from his quotes, so don't be surprised if, in the current economy, they've gone up again. Speaking of which, he talked about taking the buses around Sorrento. One, they're not necessary for getting to Sorrento -- it's a very enjoyable 15-20 minute walk (not to mention, all the walking allowed me to eat the INCREDIBLE Italian food without guilt). Two, I only saw 4 buses the entire time I was there, so I'm glad we weren't depending on them.
  • We went on several tours and hired a driving service, Sorrento 1st Choice, to take us up the Amalfi Coast, to Paestum (awesome temples!), to Vesuvius/Pompeii/Herculaneum, and to transfer us to and from the airport and train station for our trip to Rome. I give them my HIGHEST recommendation. Not only were they friendly, courteous and professional, I cannot tell you how nice it was to be picked up at the airport, at the villa, and dropped off exactly where you want to be, in a lovely, clean, air-conditioned van. Remember up top when I said DON'T drive in Italy? I reiterate that now. Not only do you not NEED a car, Italian drivers are INSANE. Every time -- EVERY time -- I got into the van with Gerry, our driver, I was so thankful he was driving us and we were not either attempting to drive ourselves or taking a bus. Driving in Italy is NOT -- repeat NOT -- like driving in the US. As our guide in Rome, Francesca (from RomaExperience, another company I highly recommend, along with Francesca herself -- we went on the Colosseum and Vatican tours, which were most excellent) told us, you must be completely without fear to drive or even walk in Italy. Sorrento 1st Choice was awesome, and you should drop them a line if you're going to stay in the area.
  • Bring LOTS of sunscreen and wear it ALWAYS. Also, if you are sensitive to bug bites, bring bug spray (with the heat, we kept the windows open all the time) and something to treat the bites, just in case.
  • I wish I could tell you about all the stuff we did and things you should or shouldn't bother doing, but I can tell you that staying at Villa Beniamina was awesome, and you will have a fantastic time.

June 2012 - The location and views of Villa Beniamina were stupendous. So much so that many others drive and park in front of the villa just to see the gorgeous view that we could see sitting, eating, all day long. Sometimes they were not considerate of the time of night, their loud voices and car door slams but that is out of the control of the owners. The elegant villa more than made up for this annoyance.

Emma [the caretaker] comes 4 times a week to clean every inch of the villa and water the gardens. She is the stereotypical austere Italian, speaks only Italian but communicates with the occasional Bravo! thrown in.

We found it was a doable walk to the heart of Sorrento (taxis charge a fortune), with ferries to Capri, Positano and Amalfi. Sorrento has great shopping for Italian leathers and goods. There are plenty of restaurants close by and in the village of Sant'Agnello. If there could be a more beautiful view it would be 3 blocks towards Sorrento from the villa where you can access the beach (if you can call it that). You can sit there atop the cliffs and have a cappuccino and view the harbor of Sorrento.

Wish we could stay there forever!

Travel tips

  • The trip to Capri was worth the expense. The motorboat ride for 16 Euro around Capri was breathtaking.
  • Amalfi was a charming town, worth a day trip. They rent kayaks reasonably where you can explore the coast and grottoes. Steer away from the marina.

June 2012 - We loved Villa Beniamina. Charming older villa with a fantastic location and view of the Bay of Naples and Mt Vesuvius. Excelent views from 2 of the bedrooms and roof top terrace.

Emma, the housekeeper, was wonderful -- she kept everything spotless and took care of the trash for us.

We had an excellent experience. I would definitely use you again and recommend you to others.

Travel tips

October 2011 - Great relaxing location to spend time in. Very good eating around the town of Sant'Agnello, just walking in any direction.

Kitchen was useful for light breakfast. And a glass of wine between daytime and evening activities was especially enjoyable on the porches.

Web pictures cannot show how comfortable and beautiful Villa Beniamina is.

Travel tips

  • Great October vacation.
  • Villa Beniamina was a very short walk into Sorrento, and buses ran often.
  • We missed the chance to see the local third division football (soccer) team playing at home, as we didn't know you don't buy game tickets at the stadium. Apparently the bars sell them.

October 2011 - Villa Beniamina was extraordinary. From the amazing view over the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius to the imposing exterior and the huge rooms with 12 foot ceilings. Sure it is a little tired, but it was built in 1915 and it was a privilege to stay in such a wonderful old villa.

If you don't have a car the villa is a little way of out of town but there is a bus stop on the corner and you can walk to the railway station so it is very easy to get around.

We had a very special week at Villa Beniamina and can't thank the owners enough for letting us share their wonderful home.

Villa Beniamina was a wonderful treat. Our dealings with Summer in Italy were trouble free and we would not hesitate to refer friends to your site and to this Villa.

Travel tips

  • There are several restaurants within a very short walk and we especially recommend Restaurant Il Capanno which is just around the corner. Just ask for Reno and he will look after you.

September 2011 - We had a wonderful week at Villa Beniamina. It's a beautiful, spacious, old house with the most fantastic view. We felt very privileged sitting on the spacious terraces.

The owners go to a lot of trouble to make their guests comfortable. The house was spotlessly clean all week. The kitchen had lots of pots and pans and there was also more than enough crockery and cutlery. Oils and spices were also provided. There was plenty of soap and loo paper and there were fresh flowers replaced every couple of days.

The only downside was a bit of noise at night from the young couples who came to the street in front to enjoy the view.

I found you very helpful - always prompt to reply to my questions and lots of useful information was included with the villa voucher. I would recommend both the villa and Summer in Italy to my friends.

Travel tips

  • We found walking up to the train station fine but didn't particularly enjoy the walk along to Sorrento (road a bit busy). However the bus stop is close by.
  • We found the staff at Restaurant Il Capanno (just round the corner) very friendly and the food was good value.

June 2011 - Large character 1920s house sitting close to the cliff edge. The large first floor terrace has fantastic uninterrupted views across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius. Good size bedrooms. Fairly small kitchen. Some of the fitments are a bit tired looking, but everything worked.

The owner came on the final day and gave us a lift to the rail station as it was raining which saved us getting a taxi.

Only downside for non-European visitors is the deposit. This is 500 Euros in cash. The balance (minus any charge for breakages) is returned on departure day. Hence you are then left with 500 Euros at the end of your holiday. Apart from that we had a great stay and would recommend.

June 2011 - There were seven of us for my husband's 60th birthday and the villa was absolutely ideal and thoroughly enjoyed by all ages. Would have no hesitation in recommending it.

The views are stunning overlooking Napoli bay with Mount Vesuvius in the background. There is a covered terrace on the ground floor (ideal for reading in the shade) and an open terrace on the first floor (we had dinner on this terrace one evening watching the sun set and then the lights of Napoli). The roof is also one big terrace.

The villa is big, clean and open.

I just happen to come across your site while looking for a suitable villa for the family. I found you very helpful and friendly and would certainly use you again. I would also pass your details to anyone looking for accommodation in Italy. We love Italy so hopefully it won't be too long before we use you again.

Travel tips

  • I would recommend Capanna & Moonlight Restaurants.
  • On the main street there is also a cafe/bar called the terrace (I think that's what it's called - opposite Jolly Blu) and the staff are so nice and friendly.
  • We hired a people carrier with the driver as a guide for doing the Amalfi coast. We also went to Capri, Pompeii and of course Sorrento which we loved.
  • We used public transport all the time as the service they provided were good for either going local or travel connections.

  • Positano and Ravello are a must-see. Also we found Herculaneum to be more interesting than Pompeii.
  • Walking to Sorrento takes about 15 minutes and is easier than catching a bus or train.
  • The hydrofoil from Sorrento port is the easiest way to travel from Sorrento to Positano, Naples or Amalfi.

May 2011 - The owner and his wife are very lovely and friendly people who were very helpful and attentive during our stay. Emma the cleaning lady that visits three times a week was equally lovely and we enjoyed her visits and attempts to communicate with us which we mostly managed to do.

The villa is very well situated for a 20 min walk into Sorrento, or a 8 min bus ride from the stop along the street. The street outside the villa is a well known and used spot for courting people to hang out, so don't be surprised by some nocturnal activities into the early hours. Inside, the villa is well equipped for an older and rather grand house, but not in a modern way, just more practical/functional. The beds in some rooms could have been more comfortable, but everything worked well for a vacation rental.

Very helpful and informed staff. Would definitely consider using you again for other trips to Italy.

Travel tips

  • The Sport bar nearby to the villa is very friendly and run by an Italian mama and her two sons, good for a drink and snack.
  • The hotel Mediterraneo sells bus tickets for local buses and day passes to travel elsewhere by bus, and the bus stops outside the hotel.
  • Favourite places to visit were Capri and Positano but the Amalfi coast trip by bus can be long and hot and if you can't get a seat an ordeal to endure.

October 2010 - We were eight great friends celebrating "BIG" birthdays. Villa Beniamina was the perfect spot for this celebration. The time we spent on the terraces, enjoying the amazing views, especially the sunsets, will be something we will always treasure.

Very comfortable home, wonderfully convenient to many methods of transport, within short distances of many spots of interest.

The town itself is quite enjoyable. Many good restaurants and shops. With a good supermarket, terrific specialty shops and a fabulous bakery, all your needs for food items are well met.

July 2010 - Absolutely loved the villa. Perfect location and loved the homely interior. Relished the sense of space and atmosphere of the property.

The downsides were people hanging around outside the villa until midnight, a ship anchored in the Bay nearby that had a party at full volume until past 4 am - if you like Top Gun and Footloose soundtracks plus racing speedboats around the Bay there was plenty of it from that group of party goers! But the absolute worst was the street cleaners coming past the villa from 5 am - sometimes earlier or a bit later.

Summer in Italy have been excellent and I would not only recommend this company to friends, I would also use you again. Many thanks.
