Very spacious and peaceful house with stunning terrace and view

September 2023 - Even better in person. Stunning terrace and view (even from the bedrooms). Great sleep at night. Very spacious and peaceful. Awesome spot. I would come back.

The host was 10/10.

The photos looked awesome. It was better in person.

Travel tips

  • Just be cautious of the stores closing times. They close throughout the day and they’re the only place you can buy bus tickets. Stock the fridge, with water and snacks.

Perfect to enjoy the coast!

September 2022 - I stayed here with my daughter and one of her friends during the second half of September. It is a 30 minute walk (and 7-8 minute drive or bus ride) from the town of Amalfi. It is perfect for 3-5 people who want a place to rest up and eat and then enjoy all the coast has to offer. The patio size is amazingly large and the view is even more so. I can't state how incredible the views were. There's a market less than a kilometre away and a bus stop just down the steps from the place. Of course, if you have an issue with steps, Amalfi is probably not the best location to vacation.

Antonio made sure we had what we needed and directed us to the location with a helpful and cheerful attitude that we appreciated after a long trip there.

Great restaurants, beaches, and services (like boating) are nearby and you're in the middle of the coast with easy access within 30-35 minutes to Positano or Salerno.

We were happy, after a busy day to Ravello or Capri, to come back to our little respite with a wonderful view to relax and recharge.

Finally, if you are thinking of going, September is a wonderful time to go. We had 7 days of sunshine in the 70's (mid 20's in Celsius) and the crowds were very manageable (no issues with reservations or anything). It was vibrant without being overwhelming.

It's beautiful!

July 2021 - The pictures we saw on the internet didn't do Villa Arcangela justice. We were absolutely delighted when we arrived.

The villa itself is more than adequate, the bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom with almost everything provided but its the terrace that makes the place so fantastic. It's huge and has the most incredible views of the sea and the surrounding coastline. We spent many of our afternoons sunbathing there and ate all our meals at the table outside. It's beautiful!

The town of Amalfi is a 10-minute walk downhill (a little longer coming back up the hill). The beach is in a protected little bay about 100 steps down from the villa. There are buses but we didn't bother.

The whole area is beautiful and the people are so friendly. Positano and Sorrento are definately worth a visit also.

Thank you so much to Giovanna who looked after the villa during our stay there. She was incredibly friendly and obliging. We had a fantastic time and the villa is beautiful. We hope to return again soon.

Fantastic location in the idyllic mountain scenery of the Amalfi Coast

October 2019 - The accommodation was fantastic. An indescribable view of the sea from the beautiful, very large terrace was of course one of the highlights.

The very nice and stylish accommodation left nothing to be desired. The pictures reflect the real situation very well.

Especially great was the excellent care and support from Antonio [the caretaker], who was always available for us and gave us great advice.

We would come back anytime and would recommend the property to anyone looking for a fantastic location in the idyllic mountain scenery of the Amalfi Coast. From there you can make many nice trips and enjoy the many good Italian restaurants.

Fell in love with the terrace

July 2019 - From the pictures, we fell in love with the terrace - and we were not disappointed. This was perfect. The apartment inside is fine too, everything worked out fine and we (mom, dad and 3 sons of age 21, 19 and 14) had a very nice week.

Good service and quick feed-back. Everything worked out fine with Summer In Italy.

Travel tips

  • Nice small grocery store nearby, which provide you with all basic needs. Not big, not a big assortment, but it works.
  • Good restaurants nearby, so not need to drive too much around in the narrow streets.
  • We booked the private parking close to the apartment (highly recommended) and used the bus to Amalfi, Positano and the other nearby villages.

Remarkable spot

July 2019 - The house is a remarkable spot, a stunning view - really enjoyed.

Antonio and Maria [the caretakers] were wonderful hosts.

Summer In Italy was great.

Travel tips

  • It can be difficult getting into town on the bus during high season as they’re often full by the time they stop outside the house. The best thing to do is walk down the stone stairway to the main road, turn right and go 100 meters to the bus stop where they come more often.

Stunning view, incredible authentic atmosphere

June 2019 - Stunning view, incredible authentic atmosphere. The terrace is paradisaical. Bathroom is quite small but one can get along all right.

Outstanding support by the caretakers, Maria and Antonio. Dear Tonino, dear Maria, thank you once again for an unforgettable holiday!

Thank you all! Just stay as you are and carry on like this.

Travel tips

  • Use small cars and use the bus.
  • Prepare your own LIMONATA with the unbeatable Amalfi lemons.
  • Try the Limoncello.
  • Have a dinner table reserved by Antonio at the restaurant Le Bontà del Capo, with a view over the Island of Capri!
  • Amalfi is unique. Bella Italia!

The villa is in an amazing spot - the view is spectacular!

May 2019 - The villa is in an amazing spot - the view is spectacular!

Easy travel by bus to Amalfi - bus stop next to the entrance of the villa, and in Amalfi there are countless ways to travel by bus and ferry.

We loved our stay at the villa.

Our host Antonio was very willing to help and be of assistance - brought us lemons from his garden. :)

Summer In Italy service was good and they were quick to answer all questions.

Travel tips

  • I would like to strongly advice people to NOT use a hired car while staying on the Amalfi Coast! The traffic is very difficult and far too many cars, buses etc, in this wonderful place. Summer In Italy can help with arranging a pick-up from/to, for example Naples airport.
  • Public transport (buses and ferries) are easy and accessible. Bus tickets are sold in the Tabacchi shops.
  • A short and picturesque walk from the villa to a minimarket for food, wine, etc.
  • In walking distance from the villa - take the steps down to the road below - there are 2 very nice restaurants. Firstly the amazing Ristorante Da Ciccio Cielo Mare Terra, the food and wines are spectacular! And they drive you home after the dinner! Secondly it is the Hotel Ristorante La Pergola, more family style and wonderful food and service.
  • It is a must to go to Ravello on top of the mountain.
  • The little towns along the coast are really nice to travel to by ferry, it takes far less time to travel with the ferries.
  • A trip to Capri is unforgettable.
  • If possible try to book a visit to a local farm, it is was a unique experience.

An absolutely stunning view from the terrace

October 2018 - An absolutely stunning view from the terrace, a very nice house and an extremely service-minded contact person made this a remarkable and very enjoyable stay.

This rental is highly recommendable, and we definitely plan to come back another time.

Everything worked just fine with Summer In Italy. We particularly enjoyed your regular newsletters about life in Italy in general.

Travel tips

  • A stay at Villa Arcangela A do require some walking. My wife and I are both age 65+ and did not have any problem with the local stairs or the walk to Amalfi.
  • The local bus has a stop basically at the front door of the house, so no need to use a car.
  • If you bring your car to Amalfi, we suggest to make some arrangement for a reserved parking ahead of your stay, as parking along the roads near the house can be difficult to find.

Amazing terrace and views

June 2018 - Amazing terrace and views. Outside table and chairs, sun loungers and deck chairs. Well equipped villa, everything you could need in a kitchen. Spotlessly clean. All the little things to make the first day hassle free (washing up liquid, toilet roll etc). A great location and a pleasant place to stay.

Warm welcome from the caretaker.

The booking process was easy, and the information provided about the property before our trip was excellent and made it very easy/straightforward.

Travel tips

  • Mini-market and bar just up the hill.
  • GAS bar just down the hill (15 minute walk), good pizzas at a very good price.

May 2018 - We really enjoyed Villa Arcangela A! It has a lovely terrace with even better views. Beds and house very clean.

Perfect communication with Summer In Italy. Their email correspondence really gave us confidence.

Travel tips

  • There is a supermarket close by, there are steps but you can enjoy the view whilst you reach it.
  • There is a bus stop close to the house to Amalfi. Buses are easy to use but can be very full so not always easy to get on and off. We suggest renting a car.

Amazing views!

September 2016 - We enjoyed Villa Arcangela A. The place was clean and the terrace was wonderful, it is the strong point of the house... Amazing views!

Travel tips

  • If you don't have a car, learn the bus schedule... It's the best way to get around. There is a bus stop right in front of the house which is convenient.
  • Take the stairs up to the market. Walking on the narrow roads can be dangerous.
  • The day trip to Capri was fabulous. It was an 8 hour trip with only 12 people on the boat. At about 90 euro per person we felt it was a bargain.
  • Eat at the restaurant in Pogerola if you want to avoid the crowds in Amalfi... I forget the name of it but it was fabulous.

Fantastic location

July 2016 - My wife and I and our two teenage daughters enjoyed six wonderful days in Villa Arcangela A. Fantastic location. Terraces are incredible.

Travel tips

  • If coming by car, do reserve the private parking even it costs 10 euro for each day. If you don't, your car will have to be parked on the narrow main road - and could easily be damaged by the passing traffic.
  • From the house you can walk to a great beach in about 15 minutes. Consider, that you will have to walk on hundreds of stairs. Easy going down - not quite so easy going up.

Travel tips

  • No need to have a car.
  • There’s a nice path, not easy to find, to get to Amalfi: you must check for a staircase, on the left, just after the cemetery, before arriving on main road.
  • Nice walks: Sentiero degli Dei and Fiordo di Furore.
  • Restaurant La Volpe Pescatrice.

Very good

September 2015 - Villa Arcangela really is a wonderful place for exploring the Amalfi Coast. Close enough to all the action, yet far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful region.

Excellent views from the (huge) terrace. Friendly house keeper.

Travel tips

  • If you like hiking: use Sunflower-guide to Amalfi.
  • Restaurant Sant'Andrea, in Amalfi (right next to Duomo): superb Pizza but also other great dishes (sea-bass, catch of the day), regional wines. Very reasonably priced and friendly owner/staff.

August 2015 - We had a wonderful stay at Villa Arcangela A. The inside of the villa is very comfortable for up to four and is simply but attractively furnished.

The terrace is absolutely lovely with fabulous views over the sea and over the surrounding lemon groves. There is a shady part covering the table where we enjoyed eating or sitting when the sun got too hot.

The villa is very private as you go through a courtyard to reach it which is used by only one other villa.

We booked with you because we had used you on our last visit and found your service efficient and helpful. We particularly appreciated all the advice about holidaying in the area.

Travel tips

  • The villa is set in a beautiful location near the local grocery store, a very friendly bar and there is even a fish shop down the hill. The grocery store has fresh bread every morning, apart from Sunday, and is open until about 8 pm.
  • You do need to be reasonably fit to stay here as there are a lot of stone steps up to the local shop.
  • You really don't need a car as there is a bus stop just nearby where you can catch the Sita bus to Amalfi or up the hill to Pogerola or Bomerano (the starting point for the Path of the Gods walk).
  • There is a pretty path you can use if you want to walk into Amalfi, just down the hill after the small cemetery.
  • The best place to buy fruit and veg is the green grocers shop towards the end of the main street in Amalfi.

August 2015 - Villa Arcangela A is very pleasant and we enjoyed very much our stay there. The parking lot although it was initially unavailable (the first three days) was also very convenient.

The view from the house is amazing and absolutely compliant with our expectations.

I very much appreciated the web site and all the information process to get through. Very professional and useful.

Travel tips

  • The bus transportation is unfortunately not very convenient. There are huge gaps in the time table (~1 hour for instance between 6 pm and 7 pm) and when they come, sometimes they are full and the bus driver doesn't stop.
  • Restaurants are mainly disappointing there. Villages and beaches are gorgeous.

July 2015 - Beautiful warm hospitality from the owner's brother who met us at the property and gave us every assistance possible. We love Italians! We had everything we needed for a lovely stay. It really felt like we were staying in our own home. I would however stay somewhere next time with its own parking onsite and pay a bit more.

The apartment is simple but comfortable and represents excellent value for money.

I couldn't fault the service from Summer In Italy and will use them again.

Travel tips

  • There were bus strikes on the Amalfi Coast for several of the days that we stayed and we were grateful to have had a car.
  • The best tip we received were from Summer In Italy. They recommend a shopping centre south of Naples for your groceries and buy your own mossie zapper refills.

May 2015 - Absolutely loved Villa Arcangela A. The most amazing view from the extra large terrace. Could have spent our whole holiday looking at the stunning views.

Owners gorgeous and very helpful, even though we couldn't speak Italian and they couldn't speak English they did their best to help.

About a 2.5 km walk into Amalfi village. Stunning views on the walk and all down hill.

Very much the Italian experience of living in a villa, lemon groves, church bells, cobbled lanes, steep walk, stunning views. Fantastico!!!!

Thoroughly recommend. Loved everything about Amalfi and Italy.

Summer in Italy were very helpful about everything. Even when I was unable to understand the Italian owners and they couldn't understand me I was able to contact someone who rang the owner to advise them of our arrival.

Travel tips

  • we thoroughly enjoyed the villa.
  • No supermarket open on Sundays.
  • Be careful not to turn the hot water heater off as the switch is just above the light switch in the bathroom and is not labelled.
  • A little hard to work out the buses but the walk into Amalfi of 2.5 km is spectacular. Bus stop is at the door.
  • Also difficult to ring a taxi and give the address. I was given the following by a local taxi driver. 089 872239 and give the address of the villa as Torre Di Vettica, so they know where to pick you up from.
  • Supermarket not far from villa but a steep walk up steps but not open on Sunday.
  • Be careful if you need to leave Amalfi early in the morning. We could not get a taxi to do a pick up before about 9 am. [Should you need an early pick-up, feel free to contact the Summer In Italy staff in advance, best before leaving home, and we will help you with that]
  • Buses leave Amalfi village from about 5.45 am but unless you walk or have your own car you can't get into the village of Amalfi do catch the early buses.

July 2014 - We had a really good time.

The terrace was the outstanding feature of the villa.

The owners were really friendly and helpful and gave us complete privacy.

It was really easy booking through Summer in Italy which we found on the web.

Travel tips

  • Unless you have your own transport, you will be reliant on local buses as Amalfi is not really within walking distance. Bus stops are very conveniently located to the villa. Bus tickets must be purchased before your trip (there is a local tobacconists which sells them) and 24 hour tickets are good value.
  • Up from the Villa is a local supermarket and fruit and vegetable shop and below the Villa are a couple of restaurants both of which require negotiating a fair few steps which are unavoidable wherever you go.
  • Favourite trip was to Ravello which is easy to get to from Amalfi.
  • If you are flying in to Naples, make sure you research your transfer to the villa - if you don't have a car as it can be expensive as Amalfi is some distance away from Naples.

June 2013 - First I would like to say that my stay at the villa was for 4 weeks. I had a long time to enjoy the location in which the villa was located.

The terrace and the view was incredible. I observed the other towns from Amalfi to Sorrento and everywhere in between and could not have picked a more perfect place for us.

I found the interior furnishings sparse but adequate.

We spent all our time on the terrace from 6:30 in the morning to 7 at night. Once we arrived from Rome, we did not leave the terrace for 2 weeks because it was so peaceful and beautiful.

Since I had a car, it was easy to go to the market in Amalfi. If you have to use the bus service, it might be challenging. There is a great little market across from the church above us.

Mrs. Giovanna was wonderful and though she has limited English, she tried so hard to help us with all our requests.

If I were to return to the Amalfi-Sorrento area, I would choose this villa.

I would like to say what a wonderful experience it was to book my villa from you. When I was researching the requirements, you answered every question promptly and fully. The transaction for payment was precise and easy. You have the best website of any that I checked and believe me, I checked a lot before choosing you. When the villa ran out of cooking gas 2 days before we left, I contacted the help line when I couldn't get the owner. You solved the problem within a couple of hours. It was truly a pleasure dealing with you. Above all, I recommend anyone to contact you to book a villa for whatever region of Europe you cover. Thanks again.

Travel tips

  • Please be sure to visit Capri and Pompeii. They are sights not to be missed.
  • We prepared our own meals so I won't comment on the restaurants. The butcher shop and fruit and vegetable shops in Amalfi are great. The wine merchant speaks English and choose us great local wines.

August 2012 - Villa Arcangela is a beautiful villa with a breathtaking view. It is 2 miles from the beach and downtown Amalfi. To truly enjoy your stay here, I suggest having transportation. Any request I ever had was answered immediately by the house caretaker, signora Giovanna.

The villa is probably what most people do not expect. It is up on the cliff, not near the beach (which is 2 miles away as well). It is in a fraction of Amalfi called Vettica, about a 15 min walk from Amalfi. The town of Vettica is very characteristic. To travel the town you must walk stairs. There is 1 fruit stand, 1 grocery store, and 1 bar. That's it.

I found your agency on the internet and I am a big fan of your company. I go to Italy 3-4 times a year so I'm sure I will be using your services again.
