Great place to stay

July 2016 - Residence Villa Rosa 2 is a great place to stay. The accommodation is simple but lovely. Located perfectly between Atrani and Ravello.

Staff were helpful and accommodating...

Travel tips

  • Is definitely wise to have a car. We had one the first time we came and decided not to this time but we knew what it was like and was happy to walk and use the local buses.

May 2012 - We loved it! It was a perfect location to walk into Atrani and into Amalfi, we could park the car, and being on the main walking path was really handy. We'd very much recommend it to friends.

We were very impressed at the proactive approach with information, giving us everything we needed.

July 2011 - A very quiet and secure place with a beautiful view at the sea and at the Valley of the Dragon! Ravello and Atrani are marvelous!

The apartment is clean but need to be refreshed. The outdoor and the terrace are fabulous. We enjoyed our stay and recommend Casa Delia.

October 2010 - Fantastic location, lovely view, nice quiet area but not very far to walk to Atrani or even Amalfi for the restaurants etc.

The villa has a lot of character, I would recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit special.

I've been very happy with the service, thanks! I found Casa Delia on your website and thought it looked perfect for us - all the e-mails and information from you was very helpful.

Travel tips

  • You need to be fairly fit to get up the steps back from Atrani!
  • Take a CD player as it's very quiet in the evenings.
  • Get the pizza surprise from the Palm restaurant in Atrani.

September 2010 - We enjoyed our stay at Casa Delia. The apartment was as described and the villa was well kept. We enjoyed the view and close proximity to Amalfi and Ravello.

Summer in Italy couldn't have been more helpful. You were really easy to deal with and I'll definitely recommend you to others and use you again in the future.

Travel tips

  • Our toddler enjoyed the villa but we had to keep an eye out for her on the patio as she could have climbed through the railings.
  • It is easy to walk to Amalfi though there are quite a few steps to get back to the villa if walking to Atrani/Amalfi. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you have dodgy knees.

September 2010 - Casa Delia is part of a group of 10 apartments, built in traditional Italian style, which cling to the hillside. The apartment is extremely spacious, especially for 2 people (as we were). Some of the fixtures and fittings (e.g. bathroom) are slightly old and worn, and a few of the window shutters did not open fully, but aside from that, everything else was in good functioning order and the place is very clean.

The terrace is very large with fantastic views over Atrani and the sea. Because of its orientation the terrace gets the sun from around 11-4 pm. There is a barbecue which was great when we wanted to cook for ourselves. The gardens/landscaping is beautiful with fruit trees and flowers; the pool area is clean (if the pool is rather cold!) and quite often we found we were the only ones at the pool.

The villa is located about 5-10 minutes walk from the village of Atrani. Sadly Atrani had just been hit by a terrible mudslide just before we arrived so all of the bars/restaurants were closed and the town generally out of action. However Amalfi is only 15 mins walk away with lots of places to eat/drink. In Amalfi, I recommend a restaurant called Restaurant Donna Stella, just of the main street for good pizzas at a reasonable price (it has a lovely outdoor terrace too).

All in all, a great place for a truly relaxing trip.

Travel tips

  • The villa is located about 5-10 minutes walk from the village of Atrani, all uphill! Whilst the walk of approx 400 steps is good for burning off the calories, it would not be so ideal for those with walking difficulties/families with pram etc [bus service is available].
  • A car is really useful for picking up shopping (there is a supermarket less than 5 minutes drive, heading up to Ravello) and travelling along the coast generally, assuming you can handle the large volume of crazy drivers on narrow, winding roads!

September 2010 - Very peaceful location with stunning views. Ample facilities nearby.

Travel tips

  • Unless you need to or are an accomplished driver DO NOT drive on these narrow coastal roads. If you do be prepared for stress levels to go through the roof. Even on arrival the driveway leading to the villa is difficult to negotiate.

August 2010 - The location and setting is beautiful and the views from the balcony are stunning.

A large property which offers value for money but in its current state wouldn't have been happy to spend any more.

The communication from Summer in Italy was good and we would certainly look at booking with you again.

Travel tips

  • The drive down to the apartments from the road is difficult. Great care should be taken when entering/exiting the gate from the main road. The white poles placed within the gate entrance are not an accurate guide to the space available due to the two low positioned poles.
  • Every restaurant and we eat in most at Atrani was good the square has a lovely atmosphere.
  • Restaurants at Amalfi were more expensive.
  • Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius are well worth a visit.
  • Hiring a speed boat was a good way to see the Amalfi coast and provided us with good snorkeling.

July 2010 - The property is large and offers a wonderful setting, though it was a little remote for us.

The dining area and terrace were expansive and opened nicely onto the valley. They also have a lovely pool area that we usually had to ourselves.

The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable, but otherwise the place was nice.

Your website is great and we were pleased with the service and information in every way.

Travel tips

  • You should have your own car unless you don't mind hiking everywhere.
  • We only found one good place to eat in Atrani, the closest town, and that was Restaurant A' Paranza. Otherwise, you'll need to go to Amalfi or Ravello.

September 2008 - It was the most beautiful villa I have ever stayed in combined with the most stunning view of the sea and town below.

We had been advised of the walk to and from the Villa but hadn't quite expected it too be as many steps, up hill was the worst. I'm 30 and consider myself fit but even I had to stop a few times on the way up. So be advised, if you suffer from leg problems or tire easily maybe its not the place for you. The upside to this was we worked off all the vino and pasta with the walking and the steps would NOT put me off from staying at Casa Delia in the future. It's the most idyllic setting ever.

I would recommend this Villa to anyone who wants traditional Italian living.

Thank you.

Travel tips

  • We hired a car from Naples airport and this helped us go to adjoining towns such as Positano, Minori, Ravello, etc. but be warned of the hair raising bends up the mountains along the coast.
  • The town of Amalfi was only a 10 min walk from Atrani (the town where Casa Delia is located) [the small complex is actually located mid-hill between Atrani and Ravello, it falls under the jurisdiction of the town board of Ravello].
  • We hired a speedboat for 2 days from Amalfi and this really was the best way to see the coast line and neighbouring towns. I would recommend this most strongly. You don't need a license and they are very easy to navigate.
  • There are shops in the town of Atrani, this is when you might need a car as carrying the shopping and bottles up the hill back to the Villa was hard work but not impossible.
  • I would go back to Casa Delia tomorrow, a truly stunning location.

July 2008 - Our week at Casa Delia was magical and unique! It was a one-of-a-kind location.

We especially liked the large terrace which offered an incredible view on the small town of Atrani and the ocean (especially at sunset).

Admittedly there are lots and lots of steps to get up to the apartment from Atrani, 378 to be exact [unless you cheat and take the bus back home, that is! :-)]. Actually, steps are required to get anywhere. So those who have difficulty climbing or walking should think twice. However, after each walk back to the apartment, we were so grateful for the large, stunning swimming pool. We were normally the only ones at the pool and our children really had a great time in the water.

The caretaker Nicola was always helpful and the apartment itself was just as the website described it.

We were not disappointed and would definitely recommend this place to our friends.

Summer In Italy was great, our experience was fantastic. We discovered it online by accident and were not disappointed. We would not hesitate using this website again!

Travel tips

  • If you have difficulty walking or are travelling with an older person, please note that the steps during the summer can take their toll on you. Be prepared to take your time.
  • Also, the town of Ravello is a good walk away and, if you have young children, be careful as their are no sidewalks along the winding road to Ravello... and the drivers can be crazy!
  • Bus service is also available.

July 2007 - Our stay at Casa Delia was absolutely phenomenal! The views from everywhere on the property were breathtaking, the apartment was very clean and well equipped, and Nicola and Tanya [the caretakers] were very available to assist with any questions we had.

Though the whole place was rented out, we were almost always alone at the pool and never saw too many people.

It is definitely a hike either into town (Atrani) or even up the driveway to the main street. The walk to Amalfi was less than 20 minutes which was great and often we would walk down the 300 steps to Atrani, over to Amalfi and take either a taxi or the bus back again (it truly is 300 steps!) Be prepared, the taxi's are expensive but the drivers were all wonderful, friendly and helpful.

This place and all of the previous reviews did not disappoint. We couldn't believe how lucky we were to have found it. Even though the temperature was 25-30C and there was no air conditioning, there is a constant breeze and the apartments are cool due to being built into the side of the mountain.

Summer in Italy was great with lots of information and phone numbers provided in case we had any problems - which we didn't. We would definitely book through them again.

Travel tips

  • If you are Italian or speak Italian and plan to take a taxi anywhere, you MUST call Maurizio Dipino at 333 650 8432. We met him at the beginning of the week and continued to use him for our entire time at Casa Delia. He is wonderful, friendly, and won't overcharge you. He also recommended and took us to the most amazing place to have dinner in Minori (the next town over) and it was truly our best meal of the trip!!
  • Go into Amalfi and find out the ferry schedules. We took a ferry into Positano and into Sorrento. It was well worth the trip and not expensive at all!

May 2007 - We loved the pool, the deck, the little town of Atrani below, the bells chiming every hour, the roosters calling in the morning and the view was amazing!

You guys were great! Very efficient. Very helpful. Great site. Very informative, I would recommend all my friends...

Travel tips

  • We were there end of May and it was pretty chilly in the villa and at night, we were not prepared for that.
  • The little town of Atrani just 350 steps below was great for people watching, buying groceries, eating in the piazza and more. Being a part of the local lifestyle was great and the walk to Amalfi was painless, no stairs...

July 2006 - Casa Delia is a lovely and unique place. My husband and I were there on our honeymoon in July, and found it a perfect location in which to relax and enjoy the stunning views of the Amalfi Coast. We were able to cook for ourselves in the well-equipped kitchen, and loved having the pool available for a swim during the hot afternoons. Nicola, the caretaker, does a beautiful job with the flowers and landscaping in and around the villa: it truly is an exquisite spot.

The complex in which Casa Delia is located sits perched above Atrani, a wee gem of a village that is a short walking distance from Amalfi. There are a few small shops and good restaurants; my husband and I were lucky enough to be there the night Italy won the World Cup, and it was great! Villagers gathered in the town square to watch the match on a movie screen in the open air; there were fireworks galore, car horns blaring up and down the coast, people embracing, young boys jumping into the sea to celebrate.

Those who have trouble walking should note that steps lead everywhere: to the pool, to the parking space, to the village. I was recovering from an appendectomy at the time and managed the stairs relatively well (if slowly). The views you are rewarded with make the climb more than worth it, though!

The apartment of Casa Delia itself is quite large and roomy. It remains cool (if a bit humid) on hot days because it is built into the wall of a cliff, which you have probably seen in the photos. My only advice here would be to recommend leaving both bedroom doors open to let the air circulate through during the daylight hours, as the humidity from the adjoining bathroom can get trapped if you don't.

Savor the night views from the terrace. It was incredible to see the moon peek out from behind the cliffs and shine across the sea, all the little lights of the village houses twinkling away, and the church across the valley illumined until late in the evening.

Working with Summer in Italy was great, all of the information you provided was very helpful. We would definitely book through you again if/when we plan to return to Italy!

July 2005 - We absolutely loved Casa Delia and hope to return there again in the future. In fact, we had hoped to stay longer, but it was already booked.

The balcony was our favorite part, and is where we spent a lot of our time. The pool was great as well, and the Atrani beach is very convenient. The scenery is breathtaking... we could not get enough of it!

We enjoyed the hikes up to Ravello and down to Atrani, and we liked the fact that a grocery store was within walking distance as well, since we cooked all our meals.

Nicola [the caretaker] was very helpful and readily available for us.

Overall, we loved it!

The villa far exceeded our expectations and are thrilled that your staff helped us find it.
