AMAZING stay!

July 2022 - We had an AMAZING stay at Casa Samuela! This is our 4th trip to Positano and this is the best house we have stayed in. The views are insane, the location was ideal (very few steps). The house itself is really well done. Just Perfect.

We had the chance to meet the owners and they were great!

Our booking and check-in process was seamless. We liked the house and the price.

Loved the location and proximity to everything in Positano

June 2022 - We loved the location and proximity of Casa Samuela to everything in Positano and would definitely recommend this house to our family.

Daniela and Giovanni [the owners] couldn’t have been better to us during our stay. We frequently visited their market for some food for breakfast and the wine and limoncello.

Travel tips

  • Get the porters to bring your luggage up the stairs. Best money ever spent!

We spent 2 weeks at Casa Samuela and enjoyed every day

October 2019 - We spent 2 weeks at Casa Samuela and enjoyed every day. The villa is as per the web site photos. The location is right in the center of Positano, within easy walking to shops, ferry terminal and bus stops. Highly recommend Casa Samuela as a great place to stay and explore the Amalfi Coast.

Daniela [the owner] is the perfect hostess and she goes out of her way to ensure that you have a great time. She was extremely helpful in explaining where to go and what to do on the Amalfi Coast to make the holiday entertaining. Many thanks to Daniela and Giovanni for all their help and hospitality.

Summer In Italy web site is very good, and dealing with them was a breeze. Everything was planned well and confirmed with hours.

Travel tips

  • Depending where you go there are steps, but a lot of areas close to Casa Samuela don't have too many steps, as there are many restaurants and shops within a 10 minute walk.
  • A must do is to catch a bus and travel along the coast and experience the windy roads and how the bus drivers have to negotiate the narrow roads.
  • A trip up to Ravello is a must and plan on spending 2 days to see everything.
  • Capri is a 40 minute ferry ride and very enjoyable.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Samuela!

July 2019 - We had a wonderful time at Casa Samuela! It had all the needed amenities, including beach towels! The home was clean and everything worked as it should. We could not have found for a better place to stay. Casa Samuela is a true gem!

Daniela [the owner] and her staff were friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and professional.

Working with Summer In Italy has been a stress free experience. They are true professionals and went above and beyond to make our trip a happy and successful one.

Travel tips

  • Don't miss taking a boat tour of the area. It is the only way to see Positano and the surrounding area.

We loved staying at Casa Samuela

June 2019 - We loved staying at Casa Samuela. The place had everything we needed and was very clean. It had amazing views and was in the most perfect spot. We would definitely stay at Casa Samuela again!

The owners Daniela and Giovanni were very friendly and helpful during our stay house. Grazie!

My experience with Summer In Italy was very positive. The info pack was very useful as we were preparing for our arrival.

Travel tips

  • We loved catching the boat to Da Ferdinando beach club. We liked that beach because it was a little quieter than the main beach. The restaurant was great as well. All the staff were very friendly.
  • We also loved Restaurant La Tagliata. The food was amazing and everyone was very friendly. And our children loved seeing the animals at the farm.
  • Of course a boat trip to Capri was fun.

Our family loved Casa Samuela!

April 2019 - Our family loved Casa Samuela! The location was great, just a short walk to shops and to the beach. We would absolutely stay here again!

Daniela [the owner] and Annie [the caretaker] were so helpful throughout our stay. Thank you for the welcoming bottle of prosecco! We loved our stay and would definitely stay here again. We can't wait to return.

Booking with Summer In Italy is very easy and convenient. The staff at Summer In Italy are super responsive to all questions. They are professional and friendly, and do a great job of setting expectations. We have booked with Summer In Italy for 3 visits to Positano and have always been very satisfied with our experience. Thank you Summer In Italy!

Travel tips

  • Expect a 10 minute walk through pedestrian streets and up 90 steps to the house.
  • Porters are easy to arrange if needed.
  • Daniela's grocery store is very close by and have a great selection of food and wine!

April 2019 - This apartment is beautiful, clean and with magnificent views of the sea and the village of Positano. The panoramic view is as spectacular from the inside as it is from the private wrap around deck outside. The bedrooms are specious and the beds are quite comfortable. The large gate at the entrance offers a sense of privacy, while also being very close to shops/restaurants with only a 94 step hike (which is nothing in Positano).

The owners also own a great little market/wine shop with one stop shopping, just a stone’s through away The are there at 7:00 a. M. through the early evening and eager to help out with questions. Check-in/check-out was smooth.

Thank you Luca at Summer in Italy and owner Daniela!

Perfect location, probably one of the best in Positano

October 2018 - Perfect location, probably one of the best in Positano. The views are incredible being just above the cathedral, the beach and the mountain side yet you don't have to deal with too many stairs. Casa Samuela is very clean and very sunny with 2 excellent bathrooms and well kited out kitchen. The terrace is wonderful with little table and sun lounges.

Good check-in and advice given on arrival. Lovely people.

Excellent service from Summer In Italy, friendly and well organised with all the right information given, thank you.

Travel tips

  • Don't try and take a bus/train from the airport, too long and via down town. It's better to do a taxi transfer car but book ahead. It will cost around 100 euro.
  • You don't need a porter unless you have tons of luggage or you are old, it is a five minute walk, but there are 80 steps up to the house.
  • Be warned too many tourists in summer and almost too many off peak I'm afraid to say.
  • Restaurants pricey but a bit better higher up the road. But still the most beautiful place!

Perfect for our family

August 2018 - Casa Samuela was perfect for our family of four. The bedrooms were very spacious and the bathrooms were newly renovated and very nice. The living room was small, but we did not spend much time in the house except to eat and sleep! The view was spectacular out the front of the house and we would definitely return.

Casa Samuela was in a perfect location - close to the beach and shops and very convenient to the restaurants. There were plenty just below the villa and for a short walk up, there were many, many other options.

Daniela and her husband [the owners] were so nice to us and were able to help us with whatever we needed.

We used Summer In Italy a few years ago and were very pleased so we booked through you again and were very pleased again.

Travel tips

  • Daniela's shop had many grocery items that we needed and it was at a short distance from the house.

There can't be a better place in Positano

May 2018 - Casa Samuela was one of the nicest, cleanest, and most convenient places I have ever stayed. In my opinion, there can't be a better place in Positano: it is right above the beach, restaurant area, overlooking the church. We loved our stay! It was part of a vacation that we will never, ever forget.

The owners, Daniela and her husband operate a store nearby stocked with everything from fresh fruit, cheese, great selection of wine, and everything else you might need! They are so friendly and helpful.

What you see on line is what you get plus so much more!

July 2017 - FANTASTIC rental. So much to say about this gem of a rental. Just returned from an eight night stay. First time renting on the Amalfi Coast yet five previous times renting an Italian villas. This was my 11th vacation to Italy in the past 17 years and my absolute favorite. I left feeling as though I was more of a local than a tourist.

About the property: only being about 90 stairs from shopping, restaurants and the water is key! Especially when compared to other rentals in Positano. The less stairs the better being key for some. The views are spectacular. We left the large windows open day and night and enjoyed the AC in both bedrooms when sleeping at night. The house was spotless when we arrived. White walls, great accent colors and nicely appointed. We dined out two meals a day so the small kitchen was perfect for our needs. Very nice bedrooms and bathrooms. And I loved the blue tiles in the smaller bathroom. The views are spectacular overlooking the beach and church and Positano above. I could go on and on! What you see on line is what you get plus so much more!

Daniela and her husband [the owners], who work at a near grocery store, are so helpful, nice and engaging. And their to go sandwiches are killer! Plus their shop has everything needed from food to wine to fresh fruit to personal items like bandaids and sunscreen. And their open from 7:30 am - 10 pm and reasonable. The experience in working with Daniela was first rate. Having a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge when we arrived was a nice touch! We encountered a challenge with the keys/door lock sticking and Daniela immediately gave us another set. She also took the initiative to come with a locksmith to change out the lock the next morning so that we wouldn't be inconvenienced. A nice touch!

Here are all the GREAT parts my friend and I experienced through this Summer In Italy (SII) rental: SII's customer service, communication, transactional process and quality of property. The tips and descriptions on where to go upon arrival, etc. SII are first rate. My best experience yet. Thank you to their first rate staff!

Travel tips

  • Lots of great recommendations and not enough time to experience all. Don't over plan your days and nights. Wait to see what unfolds. And plan to return to this property.
  • Restaurant Capricci leading to the beach directly below the house is reasonable and a great setting to people watch, relax and enjoy great cuisine. Their veal limone is outstanding as I had it twice.
  • La Brezza Net Art Cafè is connected and a fun place for drinks and light snacks. I especially love the tables with handmade painted tiles and wood.
  • Restaurant Covo dei Saraceni outdoor bar steps away near the ferry is fun. Great drinks and pizza along with people watching.
  • Caffè Positano is great for a casual lunch or a nice dinner. Great food and reasonable. Same for Restaurant Mediterraneano, and they have a fun guitarist M, W and Fri. Reservations may be needed for Restaurant Mediterraneano. They never hurt to have during high season.
  • Collina Bakery is outstanding. Warm baked goods are yummy!
  • Franco's Bar has fabulous views looking down in the beach area and water.
  • A culinary walking/tasting "tour" that doesn't feel like a tour is hosted by Positano resident Lucy from Zia Lucy. I highly recommend. A three hour casual stroll with stops at three restaurants for tastings of appetizers and pasta along with wine before a dash of dessert at Collina Bakery. A first class experience and great value for the money. Exceeded expectations and a great way to learn the town on foot.
  • Hire Positano Porters at 10 euro per suitcase/bag to bring your luggage to and from the house. THE BEST money you could spend all week. They even picked up our bags at 3:30 am. Daniela can reserve them for you.
  • Hiring a car service to and from the airport or train station is THE SECOND BEST investment. It's worth the about 90 euro each way. Nice drivers and very clean Mercedes cars/vans.
  • The house isn't accessible upon arrival until about 4 pm but no worries. Daniela will coordinate with Positano Porters to have your bags delivered and she stored our carry on backpack in her shop while we went to relax and have lunch since we arrived around 1 pm. It was easy to spend 1-2 hours enjoying lunch before getting access to the house after 3 pm. That allows time for the cleaner to fully clean.
  • You'll need to replenish the paper goods as you use them if staying more than a few nights which is easy to do. Italian rentals don't include wash cloths so pack yours if needed. A bar of soap is provided in the bathroom so be sure to pack your own shampoo and toiletries yet Daniela’s store sticks a great number of personal products. You'll also need to buy your own coffee, cream, etc. Daniela's shop is great as mentioned above. So convenient and wonderful sandwiches, fruit deliveries daily and a robust wine selection.
  • There are 4-5 coffee makers. We also found two nice beach towels upon arrival (perhaps they were left behind by previous renters or recently purchased by the owners), a nice touch yet you can buy different types of beach towels locally. An iron and ironing board are available in the house along with a small safe.

Location was excellent

September 2016 - We loved staying at Casa Samuela. The apartment is only 90 steps down to the bottom of Positano to access the beach and the shore front. Location was excellent. There was a stage set up on the beach and local dancers performed every night and we had the best seats in town. Gorgeous balcony, well appointed rooms the bathroom to the first bedroom was a little small but this was a minor issue. It was big enough for four people. Kitchen was small but well equipped and adequate for our needs. Would highly recommend.

Daniela our host met us and helped with our bags. She showed us around the apartment and said we could contact her anytime. She worked at the local wine and grocery store so was at our disposal whenever. Daniela was extremely helpful and we loved Casa Samuela.

Travel tips

  • When arriving ask the driver to ring Daniela and she will tell him where the nearest place to drop you off is.
  • All the nearby villages are worth seeing.
  • The restaurants along the shore front are great.

July 2015 - We absolutely loved Casa Samuela.

I don't think you could get a better location in Positano. So close to the beach so only a few steps to climb at the end of each day. An amazing, million-dollar view. And beautiful, recently renovated bedrooms and bathrooms.

Better than a hotel - we would stay again in a heartbeat.

Daniela is a gracious and lovely host and her shop, just at the bottom of the stairs, is very convenient.

We were recommended Summer In Italy by friends. We found the "chat" service over the Internet incredibly helpful when booking. All my emails were answered promptly and I found your company to be extremely efficient and helpful. Very impressed. Would recommend to friends and use you again.

Travel tips

  • Our favourite restaurant was Lo Guarracino - on the pathway that leads you to the small beach. Incredible views and delicious reasonably priced food.

October 2014 - Casa Samuela was so comfortable inside and clean.

The huge windows in the living room will give you a full panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea. We were able to wash our clothes and hang them on a provided rack on the balcony, they dried so quickly... It was so nice to have that feature.

Steps to the house are about 85, but wait!!!! That is about 100 - 150 steps less than most other places in Positano!!!!!!!! Some are even higher. Positano is a beautiful town on a hill and you need to understand that. When that is clear, your vacation will be great.

Our view from Casa Samuela was so incredible that we were instructed to lock the fence on the terrace at all times because people walking up the stairs try to come in to take pictures of the view. We had the greatest view of all of Positano!

The owners were incredible people... They want to help at every corner and in every way. I want that people know and understand that they are really good people. Also, they own the store under the property and are so personable and helpful. Their store is so nice inside, deli and wine selection are outstanding and they also have amazing fresh fruit and a variety of things needed for your stay.

I will be staying at Casa Samuela again on my return to Positano.

Summer In Italy suggestions, explanation of what to expect and directions was 100% on point. Thank you. I am so happy that I stayed there Luca. Thank you for everything. I am recommending you to everyone that I know.

Travel tips

  • People in Positano are very genuine, which has less to do with wanting to make money and more with being just pleasant people.
  • Be prepared to walk up hills. That's just the way it is.
  • The water shuttles to Capri and Amalfi/Ravello are right at the bottom of the steps and down the walkway. You can't get any more convenient then that.
  • Use the porters for your heavy bags, they are really nice guys (about 10 Euro per bag, best 10 euro I spent... It was easier to carrying baggage down).
  • We arrived on a local holiday day and got the most AWESOME fireworks pics from the terrace.
  • Pay attention to the bus schedule.
  • Taking the bus to Pompeii and Herculaneum from Naples is cheap and easy. Train to Pompeii is a kind of subway and looks like a train with all the graffiti. It will get you to Herculaneum and, after a few stops, to Pompeii.
  • Sicily and Positano are safe from pickpockets while Naples and Rome are cities were the pickpockets lurk. We saw someone get pick pocketed in Rome but he dropped the wallet so the victim lucked out. Be smart, leave all the extra baggage in the room and keep you pocketbook closed and close, open shopping bags are a dream for thieves!!!! As for men, my advise is to stop thinking that you are not getting pick pocketed putting your wallet in the front back or side pocket!!! These guys are masters at what they do they are the David Copperfield's of Europe. My suggestion is a money belt or a closed zipper pocket with minimal money and no credit cards in it....leave it in the money belt or safe if there is one.
  • Enjoy Italy, it is well worth every dime and all the effort you have done to visit the country!

September 2014 - Casa Samuela was perfect, amazing view and great location.

September 2014 - We could not have picked a better place to stay.

The view, proximity to ferries and buses, nearby shopping and market made Casa Samuela a great choice.

We had plenty of towels and a hair dryer. Shower had plenty of hot water for all. Beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of storage to unpack. There was even the TV to catch up on some news. The coffee maker was great and we had all the dishes and glasses we needed.

We only ate breakfast at villa, on the private patio with a gorgeous view of water and town. The view was so beautiful that tourists frequently stopped right outside our patio to take pictures.

Our landlord was so helpful in providing some guidance of where to go and what to see. We shopped at the landlord's market for fresh figs and other fruit, fresh bread, sausage and cheeses and anything else we needed was there.

There was actually entertainment each night at a stage by the harbor that we could enjoy from our apartment.

We looked on line and found Summer In Italy web site - the pictures and description were true - you helped us decide on place with great view - we had everything we needed and had a great vacation with our family! You were easy to work with and a reliable site. It made payment easy and you provided us with anything we needed. You do a great job!

Travel tips

  • Take a boat trip to Amalfi.
  • Take a bus trip to Ravello. We had a fantastic lunch at Restaurant Cumpà Cosimo, you cannot miss it. The owner manages the restaurant providing extra food and wonderful conversation. While in Ravello we also purchased a beautiful ceramic handmade bowl by Pascal shop and had it shipped home.
  • For dinner, make a reservation at Restaurant La Tagliata. You will have the best meal of your vacation for about 35 euros. Served in a family style, it gives a choice of multiple appetizers and multiple pastas, salads, assortment of grilled meats and several desserts (get off the bus at the stop after Montepertuso and before Nocelle).
  • We also tried two of the restaurants on the beach, both were great.
  • Pupetto Cafe on the beach was a great restaurant as well as the Restaurant Il Capitano with its great view.
  • We had a day trip to Pompeii referring to Gaetano Pompeii Guide. It was well worth for the history he provided. The driver took us also to a vineyard near the Mount Vesuvius to taste some wine and have a lunch.
  • We enjoyed a day trip to an olive oil factory.
  • The Walk of the Gods is a must. We started from Nocelle and walked to Praiano. Along the way you can stop at the monastery for water and a fresh figs and olives snack. The walk down to Praiano from the monastery was on well built stone steps.
  • We took the ferry to Capri and traveled to Anacapri also. Ate and shopped in beautiful stores and enjoyed beautiful views. We finally went to the Marina Grande of Capri before the ferry took us back to Positano.

June 2014 - We loved our stay at Casa Samuela in June 2014.

Very good

July 2013 - We had a very good vacation in Positano and very much enjoyed Casa Samuela and would recommend it.

Casa Samuela is a small apartment very close to the pebble beach Spiaggia Grande, about 100 stairs and a short walk that is easy compared to other rentals. The terrace overlooks the eastern half of the city and beach as well as the church Santa Maria Assunta with some of the best views in town. Tourists regularly stop for pictures on the stairs just outside the terrace which can be an annoyance but a testimony to the beauty you have at your convenience.

The living/dining room boasts 2 wall length panels of windows with great views of the sea. The kitchen is typical for many apts in Italy: small, cramped, but reasonably appointed. The bedrooms are roomy but A/C in only one of the rooms and inadequate to cool the house so nice for the people who sleep in that room but can be uncomfortable for those in the other room. We kept the windows open 24/7 and that worked well to keep the house bearable, especially with the door open during the day. The bathroom is sufficient but the shower is small. The apt was clean and tidy on our arrival, there was a bottle of water and a bottle of Prosecco awaiting us in the refrigerator when we arrived. Best of all, the owners for the rental run a small grocery store/wine shop/sandwich shop nearby and they are extraordinarily friendly and helpful.

Travel tips

  • The summer months are exceptionally busy with tourists in Positano, if we return, we would not come in the summer.
  • Getting to Positano can be tricky, would recommend a ferry from Sorrento as the buses can be uncomfortable. Hauling luggage around Positano is dreadful, there are porters available for hire on golf carts.
  • The pebble beaches can be hard on soft feet, a pair of water shoes is recommended.

Fantastic

October 2012 - The location of Casa Samuela is awesome.

The floorplan is really big bedrooms and a small living room, which I would prefer a big living and small bedrooms. However the location and views far made up for the quirky floorplan. The unit has a well appointed and efficient kitchen.

The location is quite central with restaurants and shopping and the beach just at the base of the stairs.

The owners are very gracious and accommodating and are available if you need something.

I would recommend this apartment and would stay here again. This unit is big enough for a family or a couple people traveling together. It was much larger than we needed (only 2 of us). Overall we really liked the apartment and were happy with our choice to rent here. The location couldn't be much better.

If you come here by public transportation, I would suggest taking a boat, they run all summer and part of the fall from Sorrento or Salerno. We did not have a car, and it wasn't missed here. Public transportation was very reliable, including boats.

Guest considering arriving by boat, please note that the schedule is highly dependant on the weather and the sea!

Travel tips

  • Take a boat or ferry if possible, its much more pleasant.
  • No car needed.
  • Capri is very close and so is Amalfi.
  • The local store is stocked with great wines and friendly owners.
  • The path to the Gods hike is one of the most amazing hikes ever.
  • The tourist information center is at the base of the stairs and are very helpful for finding your way around.
  • Wifi is available at the coffee shop.

October 2012 - Lovely location, great views and good apartment. The website was a good representation of Casa Samuela. Clean, tidy and well equipped. Picking up the key was easy, the owners spoke English and were friendly with no issues with the security deposit.

  • Preferred the Fornillo beach round the headland - a bit quieter.

Very good

September 2012 - Casa Samuela was perfect for us. The view from the balcony and the living room was spectacular!

The kitchen was adequate and had all the kitchen gadgets we needed. We didnt cook much but everything we did need was there when we looked (moka coffee maker, wine bottle opener, plates and glasses).

The beds were a little on the hard side (as they are in all of Italy), but we had no issues sleeping.

There is only one AC unit in the 2nd bedroom. We were concerned about this issue but it didn't turn out to be a problem. We simply closed the doors to the bedrooms when we left for the day to allow those 2 rooms to cool down before we came home for bed.

The bathroom was adequate. The one issue we had was that the shower is small and the floor got pretty wet after we all showered. We used the washer in the kitchen to wash the floor mat and simply hung it on the line to dry. Not a big deal for us, but if you are looking for a large luxurious bath, you won't find it here.

The location was perfect. Right in the centre of town. There are 94 steps up to the villa. And the view! I just can't get over how perfect it was! People were stopping outside the gate to try to take a picture of what we got to wake up to every morning!

The owner/family were very gracious and welcoming. Mama checked us in. She spoke limited English and we spoke VERY limited Italian but we were able to check in without issue.

We met the daughters later. They spoke English very well and were able to give us a little history of the town.

Overall I would recommend Casa Samuela to a friend who is looking for a great value, a spectacular view and a convenient location but is willing to deal with the quirks of a small vintage Italian villa.

Travel tips

  • Loved the families grocery store for essentials as well as souvenirs (wine, oil, vinegar, etc).
  • Took a cooking class at Buca di Bacco. What a fabulous experience!

Fantastic

July 2012 - Casa Samuela is a really great place to stay.

It is in a fantastic location, close to all amenities and provides some wonderful views of Positano.

It is a very nice accommodation - clean, practical and ideal as a base for our holiday. We felt very lucky to be in such a good location and really enjoyed our stay there.

The owner was very helpful and friendly and I would definitely stay there again.

Summer In Italy were fantastic - you were all so helpful and it was a pleasure to book with you. I had complete confidence from the first contact to the last - thank you! It was by chance that I found you via the internet, but you would be my first choice for Italy in the future.

Travel tips

  • The local wine/bread/deli was fantastic and there was a good range of restaurants around the beach area of Positano to eat catering to varying budgets.
  • There are plenty of boat taxis that can get you to Capri, Amalfi, etc., within a 5 minute walk from the apartment and they are well worth doing.
  • The loungers on the beach are a bit expensive but we did it anyway as it was yours for the day, you could come and go as you please and it was such a lovely experience.
  • Would do it all again tomorrow given the chance!

May 2012 - Loved being so close to the village and not having to walk as many stairs as the rest of the tourist. The view from the apartment, which is nothing modern but all you need, was to die for.

Daniela, the owner's daughter, made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them.

When we were leaving they even had a very special bottle of Limoncello as a gift for us (yum)

Had the most wonderful time in Positano.

October 2010 - We absolutely loved our stay there. The view was exactly as the pictures show it. I stood staring out the huge windows taking in the view of the beach, restaurants and church every day and night - there was always something to look at.

The location was unbeatable! It was a 1 minute walk down to the beach, ferries, shops and restaurants. Having now walked around Positano I am so glad we did not stay up the hill somewhere. You cannot begin to imagine what a "hill/mountain" it is until you have been there.

I would not hesitate to stay there again and to recommend it to someone else. The only thing some people may not be too fussed on is the bathroom -- it was OK..but the view and location overruled all else for me.

I was very happy for the professionalism of Summer In Italy and felt we were very well informed. We have been back home for less than 2 days and I am already planning a return trip for next year (hopefully). I will check out your website again.

Travel tips

  • Daniela and Giovanni [the owners] were very helpful recommending some restaurants and a tour company to visit Capri. Their grocery store was also very convenient.
  • Fornillo beach around the corner is nice and quiet.
  • Pompeii was fantastic. I wouldn't bother visiting Capri - it is just an overcrowded big tourist trap although the leisurely boat trip there and around the island made the trip worthwhile.
  • When making the trip to/from Naples it is better to catch the bus either from Meta or the Sorrento bus which goes through Meta it is much faster and not nearly as busy. It is better to have a bus timetable however as they are not that frequent.
  • A local bus up to Nocelle is also a highlight. We were literally having lunch in the clouds. The views are spectacular.

September 2010 - Casa Samuela has an extraordinary view of Positano and is in an ideal location. I have stayed in Positano numerous times, and I am very familiar with the Amalfi Coast in general. This was by far my best experience yet.

The apartment is at the top of 92 steps, which is nothing compared to where most apartments sit. Plus, you will need a little exercise after all of the gelato! But those steps take you up above the immediate "neighborhood" and give you the ideal view of what is happening in town.

The apartment looks directly down onto the beach, and also the beautiful little church where a wedding happens at least once a day in good weather. Church bells ring daily and that sound is so lovely. Jazz floats down from a nearby nighttime club, if you are sitting on the terrace. No sound penetrates the bedrooms, if you keep your doors closed. Or you can leave them open and enjoy falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean waves and wind mixed with the tinkle of conversation from the restaurants below. It is extremely pleasant and relaxing.

The owners are absolutely gracious and do not hesitate to come if you need something. They are nearby, as they operate a small grocery store just at the bottom of those steps.

The apartment is quite spacious. We were 3 adults and a 2-year-old, and we were very comfortable. We could have easily fit another adult or two.

It was an exceptionally good experience for us, and we still miss seeing the family that owns the apartment. We look at our pictures of the apartment and those we took of the gorgeous view every day and wish we were back there now.

Thank you Daniela and family. We really appreciate your wonderful hospitality.

July 2009 - We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Samuela. It was very conveniently located to everything.

Mrs Daniela [the owner] was absolutely wonderful and accommodated every request, helped out with all our 'touristy' questions.

We would certainly want to return to Casa Samuela and Positano. Its a slice of heaven.

Your information sheet was very useful and set our expectations at the right level.

Travel tips

  • You can do as much or as little in Positano. Ours was a completely relaxing holiday - going to the beach, etc. On one of the days we took a trip to Pompeii.
  • We used public transport to reach Positano (train from Naples and then a bus)and then tried a ferry to Sorrento and a bus to Pompeii (this takes approximately 2.5 hrs). My recommendation would be to take a car (limo) wherever possible (cost from Naples to Positano approx 90 euro, but well worth it). The condition of the local train is very poor, it is not air-conditioned and takes almost 1 hr to reach Sorrento from Naples. The bus ride is equally uncomfortable, particularly if you suffer from travel sickness. There are private limos that offer a much better deal than taxis.

September 2008 - Casa Samuela was a most wonderful location with a gorgeous view from both the terrace and dining/kitchen area. The villa can be seen on many post cards and can be easily be spotted from the beach!

From the property we enjoyed watching many, many weddings as they gathered in the piazza of the church.

The general grocery shop is very nearby, and a young man is eager to assist you by delivering your purchase up all those steps! (We always tipped him for his trouble.)

We also enjoyed "special seating" from the kitchen when the beach below became the site of a dance presentation for a few evenings.

Casa Samuela is large enough for a family of 5, but may require a little adjusting for 2 couples. One bedroom has a double bed and no air conditioning. The other room has A/C, but twin beds, which could be pushed together. In the kitchen there is no microwave and no electric coffee maker, but who needs those in Italy?

We had a great experience and the caretakers and owners were extremely nice, wonderful people.

I would definitely refer Casa Samuela and I would stay there again.

I had a great experience with Summer in Italy from the beginning. The website is very efficient and contains nearly every feature I wanted. Once I inquired, all correspondence was handled quickly, efficiently and in a pleasant, professional manner.

August 2008 - We had a great time in Casa Samuela.

The location and view were superb.

The owners were very friendly and Positano was very charismatic.

Having the supermarket so close is also very handy. They make lovely fresh rolls to take away. And always have a great selection of fresh fruit available. Ideal for a picnic on the beach.

I will definitely book my holiday with you again. The on-line information was very helpful and the photographs were great for helping you decide which type of place to stay in. Also the amount of information provided is so concise.

Travel tips

  • Relax, unwind and jump on the ferry to explore Capri.
  • The shops and restaurants are of a very high quality. You will love the range of lemon based candles, liquors and perfume.

June 2008 - We had a wonderful time in Positano. Casa Samuela is located in a very accessible location.

It is only 92 steps from the base of the village, so very close to all the shops and restaurants. The view from the balcony is wonderful, though the balcony is very sparse with only a table and 4 chairs. The balcony offers no protection from the sun and heat.

Casa Samuela is very modestly fitted out inside. The 2 bedrooms are large, one with Queen bed, the second with 2 singles (that we joined together to make another Queen room). A third single is in with the Queen Bed. We moved this single bed out into the "living room" to provide a sitting facility as there are no chairs/lounge to sit on. The space is shared with kitchen/kitchen table and entry area. This makes the accommodation difficult as no central living area.

Bathroom is very modest.

The views are outstanding from Casa Samuela and it provides a very central spot from which to enjoy Positano.

The Cathedral is just below so we had wonderful views of the daily weddings taking place.

Thanks for being so easy to book with. Information you provided prior to arrival made it all easy.

Travel tips

  • Arriving into Positano is maybe easier and more spectacular by ferry from Sorrento as Casa Samuela is very close to the beach and ferry port. Porters readily available here too, if needed (train from Naples centre to Sorrento or bus from the Airport then bus to Port at Sorrento. All very easy)
  • Owners are very friendly and very helpful.

Travel tips

  • The water taxis are an excellent way of getting around much easier than the buses, although I enjoyed the buses and the drivers!!
  • A must to see is Capri, by the local boat tours, if only for the coastal views which are tremendous.
  • When we left we took the water taxi to Naples for our train to Rome, it took about 2 hours and was certainly a much pleasant than taking the bus and train. I would recommend that visitors to the Amalfi coast look into the water taxi service.
  • Finally there is a coffee bar on the harbour where you can have a drink while you await your boat, or just take time and watch the world go by.

The owners were very kind and willing to help us with finding our way around, booking a car service, etc.

I would book again in a heart beat! You will not be disappointed!

Thank you for being so prompt with responses to emails. I really felt like I could trust booking my villa through you. You made it a pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend your services.

Travel tips

  • The villa is located right by the marina, so plan on taking day trips to Capri, Sorrento, and Amalfi by ferry. It's inexpensive and beautiful!
  • I think the best time of year to go is late Spring or early Fall due to the amount of tourists. I went at the end of September, and it was amazing. The weather was perfect, and it seemed less touristy than I would have imagined.
  • Pack as light as possible. Those 94 stairs nearly killed me. It was worth it, though. I highly recommend!
  • Oh, if you like hiking, you should definitely hike God's path, or at least part of it. It was an amazing experience, and we didn't run into anyone on the path! The views from above were incredible.

July 2007 - Casa Samuela has an excellent location, you can easily reach the village and the beach not having to walk to many stairs. From the windows in the kitchen/dining area there is a beautiful view of the sea, the beach and the village. The apartment has no living room and the two bedrooms are very dark with no windows, so the apartment it self is not very cosy or charming. There is no comfortable furniture but we moved one of the beds into the kitchen and others around and it helped. At the terrace there is only one iron table and 4 iron chairs - we missed some sun beds.

Positano is like a postcard very beautiful, charming and for pedestrians only. We parked in a parking lot by the end of the road for 20 Euro a day. There is only a small public beach area, so you will have to be prepared for renting a sun bed and an umbrella for 10 euro per person a day.

Some of our biggest experience was renting a boat with a captain for a day, dining at all the restaurants and enjoying the view especially at night. We also saw the lovely Ravello, Scala (with a charming hotel with a breathtaking view "La Margherita"), Amalfi, Sorrento and Capri. At Capri we rented a motorbike - that was fun.

June 2004 - Casa Samuela was lovely, it was situated in a perfect spot overlooking the ocean. The beach front, shops, restaurants and amenities are easily accessible.

We were a bit concerned about the number of steps that lead up to the property but really this was no hassle and definitely worth it because of the view. We had a very enjoyable stay at Case Mimosa.

One thing was that there was no separate lounge room, there was one separate bedroom and then the other bedroom was also the lounge room - it wasn't a real issue as we spent most of our time out and about and there was a table that was on the balcony.

The owners were lovely, we went to their shop everyday for our supplies, they knew who we were and spoke to us very kindly, they were very helpful with information on local attractions and booked a taxi for us when we departed.

The property was also very clean and tidy which was great and they provided a good service with clean linen and towels.
