Wonderful 2-week stay - spectacular view and awesome hosts - will definitely come back at the first opportunity!
May 2024 - Wonderful 2-week stay for the two of us in this casa. Praiano is perfect for a longer stay on the Costiera Amalfitana - not crowded like Amalfi or Positano but with easy access to all the coastal towns.
Located on the west side of Praiano so good late afternoon sun. Spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea including Positano, the Li Galli Islands, Capri and the Faraglioni. The bedroom was just right with plenty of storage and an on-suite bathroom. Having two bathrooms was perfect for quick starts in the morning. The kitchen was fully equipped with silverware, pots and pans, gas cook top & stove and small microwave. Fridge/freezer was good as well.
The hosts (Giovanni Sr, and Giovanni) were awesome. Giovanni Sr. lives in the casa below and is gracious to a fault. His gardens grace the hills around the casa and he is generous with what he grows. We will definitely come back at the first opportunity.
Summer In Italy had great customer service and was easy to deal with regarding payment and communication with the hosts and ourselves. Luca's support and advice regarding our stay was spot-on. Highly recommend this company if you're considering a stay on the Amalfi Coast.
Travel tips
- The casa is a 5-min walk up a hill from the main road into Praiano and there are two short flights of stairs (one down and one up) to access the casa.
- A quick walk down the hill brings you to bus stop (fermata) 7, which is the main Praiano SITA stop for the Sorrento-Amalfi and Amalfi-Sorrento routes and also a stop for the Praiano local bus (black) and the Praiano-Positano shuttle (orange).
- Walk a little further into town and there is a nice grocery store and past that the local morning cappucino & cornetti bar, Bar del Sole (also has great gelato - try the malaga).
- Trattoria San Gennaro, Che Bonta Restaurant and Ristorante Tramonto D'Oro are great dinner locations. We explored the following in our two week stay: Positano, Capri, Anacapri, Mount Solano, Amalfi, Atrani, Minori, Maori, The Path of the Lemons, Path of the Gods, Ravello, Agerola, Bomerano, Nocelle, Conca dei Marini, The Emerald Grotto, Sorrento & Naples.
- Wear shoes with great cushioning. We averaged 10000 steps/5 miles a day and 24 flights of stairs per day. Get in shape before you come because the coast is VERY vertical.
- Some other tips: 1) DON'T rent a car unless you're very familiar with driving on the coast road. We had lots of delays on the bus caused by tourists in rental cars not knowing how to navigate the tricky coast road. 2) Pack light - the casa has a washing machine that works well. No dryer but our loads dried in a day on the outdoor clothes lines. 3) House has older two-hole European 240-volt outlets so bring appropriate adapters for your electronics.

Very good
August 2023 - My partner and I stayed here during our visit to the Amalfi Coast. The place itself was good, as expected.
The host is definitely the highlight - Mr. Giovanni treated us with the most delicious figs fresh from his garden, and just a wonderful man to interact with (even though he didn't speak much English).

This was our fifth stay at this gorgeous setting
August 2023 - We love Casa Placida. This was our fifth stay at this gorgeous setting. It is easy to access, has stunning views, all the facilities you need in both the house and the little town. A most relaxing enjoyable place to stay. We will come back.
The property is just perfect for us. The owners share their delicious produce from their garden with us. I just wish we could speak Italian so we could converse with them.
The booking site is so easy to use and the staff so friendly. I cannot suggest any improvements for Summer In Italy.
Travel tips
- This is our eighth trip to the Amalfi Coast and this is the first time without a rental car. We used a private driver company to pick us up from Naples Airport and then did two one day tours with them. We had our own driver who was so knowledgeable. We learnt so much even though we had been to the region several times. The trips may seem expensive but excellent value.
- We just love the local shops and buy fish almost daily at the local fish shop, meat at the butcher and all the rest from the busy alimentari. We have coffee each morning at Bar del Sole and a spritz at the end of the day after walking and exploring the region.

Great people, great town, well equipped, comfortable, AIRCON in 2 rooms was an unbelievably great thing this summer. Excellent place to stay!
Luca and Summer In Italy team were great to deal with
Travel tips
- Local Praiano bus and mobility stop literally across the road at stop 13. SITA bus was crazily packed this summer and stopped at stop 7 just down the hill.

We had an amazing stay at the home and look forward to returning
June 2023 - We knew we didn’t want to stay in a town overrun by tourists or businesses that cater to tourists - thank goodness businesses here close for afternoon rest - good reminder!
Great communication with host, home was perfect.
I liked Summer In Italy company. You were recommended by a friend who frequently travels to Italy.
Travel tips
- Know the 3 busses, take a pic of the posted schedules at the stop. SITA bus tickets are sold in a couple local shops. Get enough of those tickets to the excursions you know you’ll make and that way you’re prepared - IF you go through SITA, don’t travel rush hour via SITA if you don’t have to. The other two bus lines allow you to pay for tickets on the bus.
- Know the mini marts’ business hours to plan ahead.
- Path of Gods? Plan your time and route there wisely.
- Explore Praiano via the local bus.
- We stayed over a week and everything was perfect with the home, the hosts, the town, and the locals. The wonderful people here say good morning and good afternoon, so slow down and do the same.

Magnificent view!
May 2023 - We loved our stay at Casa Placida! The view from the balcony was magnificent! The property is just as pictured.
The town wasn't as busy as Positano and Amalfi and we enjoyed our quiet stay. There were many restaurants a short walk from the apartment. The apartment was a short uphill walk from the SITA bus stop. We would definitely stay here again if we came back to the Amalfi Coast.
I enjoyed reading the Summer In Italy newsletters. They were full of great information and tips.

This was our fourth visit, it is a wonderful place to stay
July 2022 - This was our fourth visit to Casa Placida. It is a wonderful place to stay. A simple, local house representative of what Praiano is all about, an authentic local working town.
The house has everything one needs. We cooked almost all our meals in the excellent kitchen.
Lovely owners who have lived here for many years with the most amazing vegetable garden.
I have used many booking sites over the years but I think Summer In Italy is one of the best. It is very personal and freely to use. Also easy to find places to rent.
Travel tips
- Everything you need is within walking distance.
- Easy walk to the local grocery/fruit and vegetable shop, an amazing small but caught daily, fish shop.
- Good restaurants and pizza places.
- Local little bus to Positano easy to use. We did have a car but used this bus instead of driving.

The view was beautiful, with sunsets and a great view of Positano
April 2022 - We loved the house! The view was beautiful and we saw many sunsets and a great view of Positano in the day and night.
The kitchen was very easy to use and we were provided salt, pepper, garlic and lemons which made our cooking easier. We would have also appreciated some sugar and oil but we were able to buy it in the little grocery store!
The reviews and photos were great.
Travel tips
- The busses were easy to use and there are two options to travel between Positano and Praiano.
- The kitchen had a few materials to use as well.
- We loved to beach in Praiano and Positano.
- There are great restaurants very close to the house and a neighborhood grocery store.

Everything was more than we had hoped for and more!
September 2021 - We could NOT have been happier. The photos do not do this house justice in our opinion, everything was more than we had hoped for and more.
The location was within walking distance to everything, bus across the street, restaurants, beaches.
Bed was equivalent to a king, two good size bathrooms, laundry, Wi-Fi, absolutely perfect!
Giovanni [the owner] was simply delightful, he brought us figs from his garden, made us feel like family. He will be missed as will the beautiful and quiet town of Praiano.
Luca and his team were extremely attentive, especially with all of our questions around COVID rules. We were not sure Italy was going to let us in. They even told us where the nearest pharmacy was to get tested. We stayed for 11 days and we are looking forward to going back and hopefully staying longer!
Travel tips
- Every restaurants is a must try, large or small.
- The Path of the Gods is a serious, not for beginners, hike almost entirely up stairs, magnificent views.
- Take the boat and spend the day in Capri from Praiano, no need to go all the way to Sorrento.

The best dwelling possible
August 2021 - If you want discover the Amalfi Coast, Casa Placida in Praiano is the best dwelling possible.
Indeed, Praiano is near to Sorrento, Amalfi and Positano, the most important towns of the coast. By the way, you can easily travel from Praiano to these towns because the SITA bus stop is just at the bottom of the hill leading you to Casa Placida (50 meters, more or less).
The views from the two balconies are just exceptional, we have just no word to describe how beautiful the views were. It's simple, we never saw a view like that in our life! The dwelling is very calm, clean and well equipped. The pictures are true to the reality, and the bedding was very good just as the two bathroom.
Our host was just perfect!
We spent the best vacation of our life thanks to the Casa Placida and we have no negative point to say, just go to the Casa Placida!

The view from the spacious terrace is unbeatable, even better than the image
October 2019 - We had a wonderful stay at Casa Placida, made even better by the thoughtfulness and kindness of our hosts, Nicola and his father Giovanni.
The view from the spacious terrace is unbeatable, even better than the image, and it was magical to return to it each evening after a day spent exploring.
As context for this review, this was our fourth visit to the Amalfi Coast and we’ve always ended up in great accommodation so our expectations were high. Even so, we were very impressed by Casa Placida - its location, view, spaciousness, the quality of facilities offered. We wouldn’t look any further in relation to a future visit - for us it was perfect.
Good support from Summer In Italy.
Travel tips
- We shopped at 2 local supermarkets both of which had pretty much everything we needed including fresh fruit and vegetables - Alimentari Rispoli (the market at the bottom of the slope) and the one down in Via Umberto I.
- The slope up to Casa Placida is a bit steep but it does get easier to climb after a couple of times. If you have a car or scooter of course it won’t be a problem.
- We went everywhere in the Sita buses. Although, even in October they were pretty crowded the trips were nevertheless enjoyable and memorable. As we’ve learnt from previous trips the bus drivers are highly skilled and we knew we were in good hands.

A 'home from home' on one of the most beautiful places on Earth!
September 2019 - We had an absolutely fabulous 6 days at Casa Placida in Praiano on the Amalfi Coast. This was a 'home from home' for 6 days on one of the most beautiful places on Earth!
Our decision to stay in Praiano rather than Amalfi, or Ravello, or Positano, or any of the other beautiful Amalfi Coast towns was spot on! We used the SITA bus to get around to all the other towns, but Praiano was gorgeous, the view of Positano, the mountains, the sea and the sunset every evening from the terrace at Casa Placida was incredible. Also, getting around Praiano was easy compared with the other towns - far fewer steps to climb.
The owner Giovanni, his wife and son Nicola could not have better hosts. What a great and memorable week.
By the way, working with Luca and his colleagues at Summer In Italy was also a pleasure: accurate information (with a great sense of humor!), timely replies to our questions, and a super helpful attitude. We would not hesitate to work with them in future or to recommend them to other travelers!
Travel tips
- The local grocery in Praiano had everything we needed.
- Criscito's, the pizzeria just across the road, was super good and very reasonable.
- If you can get a reservation, we highly recommend Taverna del Leone, on the main road between Praiano and Positano (you might need a taxi). We had the "trust us" tasting menu, which was probably the very best meal we had in Italy during our 3 weeks there between Rome, Naples, Paestum, Praiano, and Sorrento - and we had some other awesome meals!
- The SITA bus system can be frustrating, but it was far better than driving ourselves. And with SITA, we could both see the fabulous views without one of us having to concentrate on driving the crazy road and more crazy drivers.

I will stay again
August 2019 - Casa Placida is the perfect answer for families wishing to stay on the Amalfi coast. It was crystal-clean, very convenient and comfortable. You're in easy access to Positano and Amalfi, but you're a step away from the noise and hubbub.
The view from your private balcony cannot be beat! The kitchen is efficient and easy. Local restaurants are close by and delicious. In fact, I consider the relatively quiet ambiance of Praiano to be superior to the crowded noise of Positano. The apartments's air conditioning is quite efficient.
The property is larger than it appears in the photos. Also, there are two porches (plus the roof) available for sitting, which means that you can sit in sunshine or shade most of the day, as you prefer. We are a family of 3, but 5 could fit here quite comfortably.
I have absolutely no reservations to recommend this property. I would (and probably will) stay again. (I don't usually write such glowing reviews, but I literally have nothing to say against this property and glad to say in its favor. Rarely have I been so pleased with a holiday home).

It was simply PERFECT. Cannot wait to revisit
July 2019 - Casa Placida is simply EXCELLENT and I won't repeat all the other positive comments. It was simply PERFECT. Cannot wait to revisit.
The apartment is exactly as seen in the pictures and spotlessly clean. Temperatures were mid 30's throughout however there is always a cool spot on the terraces. The views as mentioned were "out of this world" with Positano to your right from the terrace (lots of evening fire work displays) and daily activity meant I was up at 6 am to watch the boats and super yachts in the cool of the morning.
Fabulous washing machine (select 10 o'clock on the dial for a 1 hour wash) and lots of lines for drying so don't overpack your suitcase, save the space for your Italian purchases. We bought washing tablets and "Colour Catcher" in the store below which also has all the basics you will need for your stay.
On arrival we were met by Giovanni [the owner] who helped with luggage and 1 minute later we were in the apartment.
Summer In Italy were 5 from the moment we booked and cannot recommend them highly enough. If in doubt just book, you will not be disappointed. They replied immediately to all questions and queries and were by our side throughout our wonderful holiday if help was required, many thanks and would totally recommend this very professional company.
Travel tips
- Two general stores, one at the bottom of the road and another similar, left of Restaurant Il Pino.
- Good chemist if you require cream/bite spray (take your empty tube to show and avoid translation).
- The wine was fabulous wherever we purchased and so many wonderful restaurants.
- We had a wonderful taxi journey (recommended by Summer In Italy) from Sorrento (son's wedding the previous week) which took in the fabulous views via Positano.
- We didn't tour the area much apart from Pompeii as the wedding week in Sorrento was busy and it was hot however various wedding guests enjoyed Positano, Capri, Amalfi and Ravello (bus stop just at the bottom of the road, frequent and not too full from what we viewed).

Excellent place to relax, enjoy the real Italy and relax
June 2019 - Casa Placida is exactly as described, a very quiet place, in a beautiful surrounding, in the heart of a quiet and familiar town. Everything is close by, there is a small beach a few steps away, a restaurant, a bar, a market, scooter rental, etc.
Ideal for touring the whole Amalfi Coast. We rented a scooter during our stay and visited Positano, Minori, Ravello, Amalfi, Sorrento and Capri in 4 days and it was excellent to rest in such a quiet place.
The house is very spacious and comfortable, it has a familiar touch that made us feel at home. Dinners and breakfasts on the balcony were the best moments I treasure during our tour of Italy.

June 2019 - We have just had 4 nights in Casa Placida and we were sorry to have to leave... It is a wonderful house with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The view across to Positano and out toward Capri is sublime. We sat for hours looking out and enjoyed the early mornings watching the activity on the water and listening to the sounds of the town waking up.
We do hope we will return one day to soak up this amazing part of the world and we would stay at Casa Placida again.

Evertyhing we needed and more
April 2018 - Overall everything was excellent and as previously described by other reviewers. This is not a modern or high end clean line apt. It is more like an apartment that is lived in full time. It doesn’t have that vacant or full time rented emptiness or soulless feeling. It had absolutely everything we needed and more. We loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone
Location wise, I thought it was really excellent. I am so delighted we didn’t stay in Positano as initially planned. This little village is fab and so friendly. Much more suitable and nicer for us than Positano. It was a great location to travel along the coast and along complete the path of the gods walk. It was not too high up so that meant not many steps or too much of an uphill climb to get to the apt, yet the views were spectacular.
The owners are fabulous. So friendly and accommodating.
Everyone at Summer In Italy was really excellent and responded so fast. I have already recommended ye to several people and will continue to do so. I have been to Italy over a dozen times and had not been aware of you until this holiday. There is no doubt that we will use you again. Superb service.

- We only went to the restaurant across the road from the apt entrance on the last night for some reason. I wish we had gone sooner as we would have returned. The food was excellent and good value.

I have found my own paradise
May 2017 - I have stayed at Casa Placida several times. The first time was in 2010. It was such a memorable experience, I have returned again and again.
The panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, Capri, and the Amalfi Coast have, at times, brought tears to my eyes while standing in the kitchen of Casa Placida or sitting on the terrace. I have found my own paradise. It is quite simply magnificent! Being part of a neighborhood instead of in a hotel means a lot. The vegetables, fruit and flowers lovingly tended by the owner is amazing to see. It is a lifestyle I wish to be a part of, even if for just a little while. Casa Placida is so charming and lovely. It is also conveniently located to walking into town or getting on the bus. The linens are fresh and clean and of high quality. Having 2 bathrooms is great if you are not a couple. I will always feel fortunate that I discovered Casa Placida, it is perfetto! Grazie mille!
Summer In Italy has always been pleasant, helpful and professional and ALWAYS responsive to my questions.
Travel tips
- My only advice for future guests, if they are NOT Italian, is to learn some Italian words so you can, at the very least, greet your neighbors and hosts and say thank you in their own language.
- Be grateful you have found such a special place.

Excellent location
April 2017 - Casa Placida is an excellent location, in a quiet neighbourhood, with an unbelievable view. We enjoyed it immensely.
Summer In Italy was excellent! I cannot think of anything to improve. The main thing I liked about Summer In Italy was the follow up, and quick response I got when asking a question... Do NOT stop doing this!!!
Travel tips
- Everything you need to survive is a 10 minute walk away (groceries, restaurants, bus stops, wine, butcher).
- Getting to the commerce area of town is an easy 5 minute walk down, but 10 minutes on the way back. We usually stopped once or twice to catch our breath.
- Be prepared for a bit of a cardio work out. Casa Placida is up a high road (hill).
- Praiano is an excellent location to get to the other major tourist spots, but at the end of the day, you can have a quiet/peaceful evening (without the tourist chaos). This is a relatively "sleepy" town, compared to the others (like Positano, Amalfi, etc.).

We enjoyed being able to watch the spectacular sunsets from the two terraces and view the sea, islands, town and coast, as well as see and hear the parade on a feast day. We loved having a garden below us and the help of the gracious owners who gave us fresh figs and eggs from their garden and hens.
The owner and his wife were extremely kind and helpful. Despite our language differences, we were able to communicate with smiles, happy eyes, and google translate.
I felt that Summer In Italy was a great company and would use it again and recommend it to friends. I felt I had personal contact with the people I was communicating with and they were responsive to my needs and questions.
Travel tips
- Loved Bar del Sole for morning cappuccino, afternoon prosecco, and to be a part of the town life.
- Saw many of the ceramic art installations on the passageways.
- Loved the small markets for provisions. We could get packaged goods, household needs as well as meats, cheeses, produce and wine at reasonable prices.
- We visited in mid September and it was extremely busy so buses were often full when arriving in Praiano and leaving Amalfi. We did not do many of the things we wanted to because of this.

Couldn't ask for a better location to start from!
May 2016 - The location, the view, and the balcony alone was worth everything we paid and more! There were many days we just decided to do nothing but go to the family owned grocery down the hill, grab some fresh bread, olives, cheese and wine and go back "home".
Inside Casa Placida was ok. Everything you would ever need was there, as far as kitchen needs, towels, sheets, etc. But expect basic amenities. Again, none of that mattered as we sat outside, sipping our wine and watched the boats go to crowded Capri from crowded Positano! And when we got bored, you couldn't ask for a better location to start from!
The owner lives downstairs and is just delightful, even gave us eggs and lemons. Keep smiling! You and your wife are lovely! We appreciate everything you did to make our stay so delightful.
When I come back to Italy, the only way I will organize is through Summer In Italy. From the beginning, when we were deciding where to stay, through the planning stages, and figuring out transportation to and from the airport, the next hotel, etc, your team was there. Even when we got to the Amalfi Coast and didn't have a phone we were able to get in touch with your team for them to notify the owner. Our trip was seamless because of you! Grazie!
Travel tips
- In regards to leaving Casa Placida and touring the other towns, while the location to the buses is great, plan on waiting for quite a while for your bus. Many will drive right by if they are full.
- Walking to the Walk of the Gods is a must do, but know that it is not an easy jaunt... 1200 steps straight up, but so worth it!

September 2015 - We adored Casa Placida and would be hard pushed to rate it more highly.
The view is SPECTACULAR and it is so well equipped - two bathrooms and two air conditioning units (to keep out that Amalfi heat!).
Nicola [the owner] who met us, and his mother and father who lived downstairs, were wonderful - neither of us could really speak the other's language but it didn't seem to matter - they were incredibly welcoming and we felt very at home.
We are so pleased to have found Summer In Italy - the whole picking of somewhere to stay and the booking process was seamless - as was the advice we got on how to arrive and tips about the house and area. We love your newsletters as well - they are written so beautifully!
Travel tips
- Don't plan too much - the astonishing view from the terraces of this house will suck you in such that you could spend hours just gazing and watching the world go by.
- When you do go out the local bus services are all excellent.
- DO NOT attempt to drive - that will undo any holiday relaxation you have earned.
- We visited many of the restaurants around and found Che Bontà on the steps just below Casa Placida to be wonderful - great food and wonderful service.
- There is really no need to go further but if you do would also highly recommend Restaurant Il Pirata in Marina di Praia.

August 2015 - Case Placida could not be better located. A view to die for!
Live like a local in a small local house. This is our third stay in Praiano and the second in this house. A short walk to all the local shops selling fresh fish and local produce.
The owners, who live below, are so helpful and generously gave us fresh tomatoes, figs and eggs from their garden.
Excellent to deal with Summer In Italy.
Travel tips

September 2014 - Can't fault the place. Clean, comfortable and stunning views along the coast and of the island of Capri at the horizon. Everything was perfect.
The owners live below and are very friendly. They even brought us lovely fresh eggs from their own chickens, fresh figs and tomatoes from their garden. They don't speak English, but it's no problem at all, we managed to converse with our few words of Italian and sign language.
Next time we come to Italy, we'll certainly try to book through Summer In Italy. A good service, and helpful email tips, great website.

September 2013 - Casa Placida was a nice apartment with an amazing view. We liked the area and the people. The hill was a bit challenging though.
I think we've stayed in places with outside bbqs before and I missed that, but in all it was great value for the flat. It was incredibly clean as well.
Thought you guys were great and will use you again.
Travel tips

August 2013 - We enjoyed the place a lot. The location was great. very close to the bus stop. The house was very clean and very well equipped with all what a family of 4 will ever need in a vacation.

The view was excellent. Nearby there are a couple of supermarket and internet café.
It was really good.
Keep up the good work. Everything was as described by you. Because of you guys, we had a wonderful time.
Travel tips
- Be ready to go down the lengthy road steps to the beach.
- Visit Amalfi and Positano... and most importantly go for the "Path of Gods", a 3-4 hour uphill rough walk (we made it with 2 kids aged 10 and 14) -- make sure you wear a comfortable pair of sports shoes and don't forget the camera and WATER.

July 2013 - We loved staying here, very clean and tidy, excellent outdoor living (terraces) with beautiful views.
Our daughter slept in the living area and had her own bathroom. We did not need to use living room as the two terraces provided ample living space.
Nicola [the owner] looked after us very well, our flight from London was delayed by hours and we were very late arriving (12.30 am) and he was very happy to welcome us at that hour and show us where to park our car.
A short walk down the hill to shopping and restaurants but high enough up the hill for great views.
I would highly recommend this property.

June 2013 - We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Casa Placida.
The apartment itself is modest and decorated in a classic old Italian style. Although not to our taste it made the stay feel very authentic. The best feature of the apartment is without a doubt the private balcony. It has the most spectacular view of Praiano and the coast line from Positano all the way to Capri. Watching the sun slowly descend over the coast in the distance was the perfect end to every evening. There is also a roof terrace with 360 degree views and all day sun. This however, is less private and because of a small road it can be a little noisy at times.
The apartment is very private and you know that the owners are just downstairs if you have any questions/concerns.
Travel tips
- The apartment is very easy to get to using the local SITA bus from Sorento and the owner was there to meet us as we got off the bus.
- There is a bit of a climb up to the apartment but nothing too strenuous.
- There is a supermarket and butcher at the bottom of the hill which was great for cooking in the well equipped kitchen.
- Praiano itself is perfectly located to explore the Amalfi coast and is away from the more touristy parts of the coast which was perfect for us.

September 2012 - We absolutely loved Casa Placida! The view from the balcony was exactly like the pics on the web site. We really enjoyed coming home to watch the sunset and have a glass of wine. It was spectacular!
The villa was very clean and had everything we needed. We loved living like an Italian for a week. We went to the supermarket at the bottom of the hill daily to get our fresh fruit and vegetables.
The grandparents lived below, so it was very easy to ask for help if we needed anything.
We would go back to Italy and stay there again.
Summer in Italy was the BEST! They were very professional and answered all my questions for us. I would book again in the future with them when I return to Italy.
Travel tips
- We didn't rent a car. So we had to take the bus, which was quite crowded or pay quite a bit for a taxi. So we got a lot of exercise and walked everywhere.

June 2012 - Casa Placida is the most wonderful place to stay. The location is superb as it is within easy walking distance of the local shops and cafe. The view is to die for. We thoroughly enjoy staying in a real community as against a tourist destination. We wished we could have stayed longer.
Having been to this region three times we would recommend Praiano as 'the holiday destination' on the Amalfi Coast and Casa Placida is ideal for 2 to 3 adults.
Travel tips
- Bar de Sole has the most wonderful setting for morning coffee and early evening drinks.
- Restaurant Il Pino, just below Casa Placida is wonderful and in particular, the tapas like selection for lunch.

May 2012 - We enjoyed Casa Placida very very much.
The location of the town of Praiano was perfect - half way between Positano and Amalfi. The casa itself was just perfect - within walking distance of the Bar De Sole - the small local shops and bus stops. Walking to the property was very easy as it was by road - no steps and stairs - the local bus stopped right at the front door. The owners - who live down stairs - were just wonderful - gave us eggs and lemons from their garden and homemade cakes.
The views from the balconies was overwhelming - every night the sunset was different - views down over the village - across the water to Positano and the Isle of Capri.
Basically highly recommend Casa Placida - also - the bed was very comfortable. Hope to return there very soon.

The location was wonderful - close to the road (very few stairs), pretty good for parking and very close to the bus stop for Positano. The delivery of fresh eggs and fresh figs from Mr. Giovanni's [the owner] garden was a wonderful gift on our first morning.
Lovely memories of Casa Placida and Praiano.
We can definitely say that Summer in Italy is a top class organization to deal with - friendly, very efficient and helpful too with directions. Your newsletter was also very useful in getting a feel for Italy. You are a top notch organization and we LOVE your country! Thank you!
Travel tips

August 2011 - We really liked our stay in Casa Placida, especially the excellent view, the privacy, possibilities to relax, enjoying the weather and good food and the support and friendliness of the owners who live below.
The village of Praiano is for the right reasons on the heritage list of Unesco.

July 2011 - We stayed two weeks and absolutely loved Casa Placida. If I return to Praiano, I will stay there again without question.
The apartment is immaculate, especially the bathrooms. The beds were comfortable and the linens where fresh and hand pressed... so inviting. The air conditioners in our bedrooms worked well. The apartment is perfect for two couples as each couple has privacy and their own bathroom.
The food store is just down the hill as is the bus stop and my favorite place on the planet, Bar del Sole.
The view is breathtaking and only available on the Vettica Maggiore side of Praiano. You can see Positano and Capri from the deck. The kitchen is well equipped and the washing machine was very convenient.
The owners who live downstairs were extremely respectful of our privacy and most accommodating when we needed something. They kindly gifted us with homegrown tomatoes and fresh eggs from their chickens.
I will never forget Praiano. It was the perfect location between Positano and Amalfi but providing an authentic cultural experience as Praiano is not as touristy as these towns. Praiano is just gorgeous and I'm so happy I chose it as my homebase on the Amalfi Coast.
I rented three different apartments while in Italy from three different companies. Your company was the easiest to work with an most accommodating. Thank you for helping me over the phone, Luca. Thanks also for taking a credit card for the balance so I didn't have to carry a lot of cash throughout Italy.
Travel tips
- Restaurant La Brace for a casual meal and Restaurant La Strata for something more exquisite. The "take away" place at the bottom of the hill is very, very good as well.
- The wifi place that is five minutes from the apartment also recharges TIM sim cards. You can use your own device there or one of their computers.
- Stop in at the tourist information center for fluent English help with just about everything.
- Positano Boats is behind the cathedral at the bottom of the hill. They were dependable in providing excellent private drivers to Naples, Pompeii and just about anywhere. They were very helpful and happy to accommodate. Their drivers were excellent.
- The ATM machine is also at the bottom of the hill.
- The location was perfect for access to the Sentiero Degli Dei -- Walk of the Gods (use the via Russo entrance next to the pottery shop).

May 2011 - We stayed here for ten days and it was just spectacular. The views are just amazing. The villa is beautiful and just perfect for the two of us.
Kitchen facilities were great, much better than we had expected, there are two separate balconies which was great because the 2nd balcony was sheltered from the wind and yet still had the same amazing views.
The owners are beautiful people although they speak no English we were still able to communicate our needs or obtain information.
There is a little grocery shop at the bottom of the hill, this is the only down side is the climb up the hill to get to the villa.
Hotel Fioriere is great spot to sit and have a drink. Hotel Smeraldo has a great restaurant, we ate there several times, the view is lovely on sunset.
Casa Placida we recommend highly, we had a great time.
Summer in Italy were great from start to finish. They helped us to select the villa most suitable for us. When we were leaving I phoned them and they were happy to call the owner for me an advise the time we were leaving as I found it impossible to get the owner to understand.
Travel tips
- The grocery store closes at 1 pm and reopens at 4pm. When we arrived in Praiano we stocked up on groceries and wine, I asked if he could deliver and he was happy to take them up the hill for us.
- If you don't understand Italian you will find the washing machine hard to select a setting, I found setting K simple and faster than the others.
- We did a day trip to Amalfi and Ravello, Villa Cimbrone is a must-see.
- We did a day trip to Capri lots and lots of people but glad we saw it.

August 2010 - My wife and I could not recommend Casa Placida more highly. We would both say it was one of the major highlights of our 3 months in Europe.
The owners could not have been more hospitable and the villa was fantastic. The views of the coast were the best possible. We would spend each evening sipping wine and gazing out at the view from the balcony. We cannot wait to get back there.
Thank you and we would be happy to provide further recommendation if required.
We just appreciate the service you provided and we are grateful for the introduction to such a fantastic place as Casa Placida and the Amalfi Coast.
Travel tips
- I would advise all guests to embrace the local culture as much as possible. Talk to the locals and engage in some of the local activities such as sitting in the evening in the Church square or walk down the stairs to the local beach and swim and chat to the locals.
- The Restaurant San Gennaro or Restaurant La Brace were both excellent.
- The local grocery has a wonderful delicatessen with the best pancetta and parma ham we have ever tasted.
- Make sure to try the local wines and always remember to give a friendly greeting as you pass the locals in the street.
- Make use of the local transport which is very reliable and also a bit of an adventure.
- The owners of the property are the loveliest and most genuine couple you would ever meet and they will always try and make sure things are to your satisfaction.
- In the summer months go out early in the morning and come home to rest from about 12.30 - 5.30 then go out again. It can get too hot being out during the middle of the day.
- A trip to Capri is well worth it. We booked through the stand at Marina di Praia and had a wonderful boat ride over and back with a couple of stops for swimming in the Mediterranean. Also this tour only takes 12 people on each boat which means you are not cramped in and it is very comfortable.
- I would book two weeks if possible. You need one week to get used to the lifestyle and another to really embrace it and get to know some of the locals.

Praiano is a quaint village with restaurants and shopping facilities. The church adds to it with the tolling of the bells every 15 minutes.

The view is spectacular, the kitchen is well equipped with utensils and dishware, cooking pots, and espresso coffee pots, and all appliances worked well.
The terrace is very comfortable, with a magnificent view.
The town of Praiano is a quiet fishing village, but has all the amenities needed for your convenience. Restaurants, groceries, fish market, and butcher.
The owners are lovely people and provide any information you request. Mr. Giovanni had lemons and figs ready for us on the first day of our arrival, freshly picked from his trees.

You've been very helpful.
Travel tips
- Be prepared to do some walking up and down a slope to reach the villa. It is a great form of exercise to the bus stop or to the stores.
- Your shopping is done in Amalfi or Positano, and to enjoy the beaches, you are much better off to visit those towns. There are a couple of beaches in the Praiano area, if you don't mind the walk down the stairs of the mountain.
- Casa Placida is a wonderful place to stay the owners are very helpful and respect your privacy. I would visit Casa Placida again. You get the true feeling of a home town atmosphere.
- The local bar is the regular meeting place for the locals and tourists and is located close enough to enjoy an espresso or cappuccino in the evenings, with incredible views of the sunset over Positano.

September 2009 - We had a wonderful stay at Casa Placida.
Our owners/caretakers lived in the unit below us, and they couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly but were not intrusive. The first morning we were welcomed with a basket of fresh figs and fresh eggs. It was fig season, and they generously shared with us.
The apartment is very nicely done. We cooked most of our meals in the very pleasant kitchen.
We were very happy with the facilities. We would definitely return to Casa Placida.
This is the second time we have used Summer in Italy. The website is user friendly and gives very accurate information.
Travel tips
- The laundry area is very nice and well-equipped.
- Our favorite grocery store was Angela's Alimentari, and Angela's son will deliver if needed. That was great news for our first "stocking up" shopping.
- One does not need a car as bus service is very good.
- Guests need to be prepared to do some walking -- it is half way up a hill, and there are a few steps.

July 2009 - Wonderful! Fantastic view, owners of the property - elderly couple, genuinely warm and welcoming people. The general impression exceeded all the expectations.
We hope we can come back next year.
Thanks Summer in Italy, you guys do a proper work!
Travel tips
- Praiano is a quiet small place compared to Positano, however in close proximity to Positano (which is more of a tourist spot, nightlife, shopping) approx. 30 min. trip by the local bus. Everything is much more simple, authentic and cheaper, in addition you avoid crowds of tourists.
- The views are fantastic, the sea is clean and it is less crowded at the nearby beaches. We loved both La Gavitella beach (closest) and the other one which is approx. 1,5 km walking from the property.
- The trip to Capri was great!
- Will come back!

June 2009 - We absolutely loved staying at Casa Placida. A very comfortable apartment, with plenty of room for 4 people.
The location was great, the views unbelievable and the owners (live downstairs) were very nice - brought us fresh figs several days during our stay.
Summer in Italy was fantastic. We had a minor miscommunication about the initial place we reserved - it was too small. But Summer in Italy worked quickly with us to find a substitute place - Casa Placida - which matched our expectations and was perfect for our family and trip. Summer in Italy was very responsive, helpful and professional in resolving our initial location issue.
Travel tips
- The Casa is located just above Vettica Maggiore in the village of Praiano, walking distance to a small grocery, restaurants and the Bar del Sole for great drinks and chips at sunset and gelato for dessert.

September 2008 -
Please pass on our regards and thanks to the owners. They were very welcoming and helpful.
Found your website online. Very good and easy to use. An excellent search system which can locate a villa that meets our specification. Pictures were exactly as we found the place, so not misleading at all.

June 2008 - We really enjoyed staying in Casa Placida because the owners, who also lives in the building, were so hospitable. They were so friendly and we felt like we were there and visiting them.
The view were absolutely exceptional/outstanding from the terrace and the balcony. When you are sitting at the terrace you have the beautiful mountains in your back and the sea in front of you. You see the village and the beautiful church of Praiano and all the way to Positano.
In the morning you can hear a dog or a hen. And that is the charm with Praiano. Praiano is a small village and you live with the local people. All the people that we met in Praiano were so warm and loving-hearted. We felt like we want to live in Praiano the rest of our lives. It was so beautiful. Just remember to "take the custom were you come". Remember to say "good morning", "hello", "good evening" and "good night" in Italian and the people will gladly answer you. Especially the older people that you meet in the street.
Travel tips
- Praiano is a fairly quintessential Italian village located amongst the hullabaloo of the the neighboring towns. You will find many of the local towns people gathering in the squares of Chiesa San Luca and Santa Maria Assunta, especially in the evening. The children will often be playing soccer. Enjoy the many walks, vistas, footpaths and aromas throughout the town. Town that is quite different from others on the coast because of it's original Italian spirit not spoiled by huge amounts of tourists like Amalfi or Positano.
- It is very easy to take the bus in Praiano. There is SITA bus network which travels along the coast. Stops are frequent and one must be ready for quite a ride (narrow road, many turns and rather speedy driving). There is a local bus that loops through Praiano and runs to Positano. Tickets are purchased on board the bus from the bus driver. More information regarding this bus route can be located at Praiano's tourist office.
- We went to Positano (beautiful) and from Positano we took a boat to Capri. We are Swedish people so a visit in Capri was a must for us, especially to see Axel Munthe's "Villa San Michele". We also took the aerial cable-way up to Monte Solaro. The view over Capri was just beautiful from the cable-way up.
- There are so many things to see and so many things to do and the best thing is to discover things on your own. It is hard to recommend anything special apart from Capri and Positano that you must visit. I can also recommend a visit in Ravello and Sorrento. Ravello is beautiful and the best shopping do you have in Sorrento. The best bath you have in Capri.
- There is a lot of nice restaurants in Praiano and Positano. The proximity to the sea provides many chances to enjoy the local cuisine of the Amalfi Coast. You will see many of the restaurants heading out on their fishing boats to bring back meals for that day. The fish is fresh and the shellfish is very sweet. Be aware that some seafood items may be frozen. The menu will alert you to this. The majority of the wines are local. We find our favourite restaurant just above the square of San Luca in Praiano. The owner was so funny and friendly, also the people who worked there. The food was excellent and the view was outstanding. You could also sit there and see all the children playing at the square of San Luca. In Positano I can recommend a visit at: Hotel Palazzo Murat. They have a very nice restaurant but it is an exclusive restaurant and you must dress up for the evening. We were there on my mothers birthday.
