Breathtaking views, welcoming hosts
July 2023 - Cannot speak more highly of this place! It’s a beautiful place and a great view! Parking was a little difficult but well worth it!
The hosts are also very nice and easily accessible.
Would definitely recommend!

May 2023 - Casa Osvalda is wonderful. We enjoyed it a great deal. Nocelle is very peaceful and this property has amazing views of the sea.
We stayed a week and enjoyed the restaurants in Nocelle, hiked the Path of the Gods, and twice walked to Positano. We had visited Nocelle for a day 20 years ago, and really wanted to stay there for its peace and quite and time for reflection. This property is an excellent choice if you'd like to do the same.
We also really liked the owner. She was very responsive, helped us set up dinner reservations, helped us arrange a porter for our bags, and we could use WhatsApp to easily communicate with her, in English, both before and during our trip--thus relieving any stress that comes with foreign travel. WiFi in the property was reliable and good.
We've know Summer In Italy company for 20 years, having booked our honeymoon with them 20 years ago. They are very trustworthy and professional. We had top notch experience with them 20 years ago, and with our recent booking. Overall, we just have 100% confidence in them.
Travel tips
- Path of the Gods is incredible.
- Nocelle also has several very nice restaurants, our favorites being Restaurant Santa Croce, and Rifugio Dei Mele. We also liked the cafe near the trail head of the Path of the Gods.
- The mini market was open frequently for small necessities.

Definitely recommend this property!
September 2022 - Casa Osvalda was very affordable, quiet, and has amazing views! Be prepared for a lot of walking/stairs, but that is the case everywhere in this region. We stayed in early September, and the amount of mosquitoes were a bit more than we were expecting, but some bug spray from the nearby store mostly took care of that problem. Definitely recommend this property!
The price was very reasonable, we enjoyed the nearby restaurant a few times, and the store was a lifesaver (mostly for the bug spray).
Travel tips
- Get bug spray!
- Would recommend not renting a car. Take the ferry into Positano, and catch the local bus up to Nocelle (purchase bus tickets at Tobacco Shops, cheaper than on the bus).

A very nice surprise
July 2019 - Casa Osvalda, a very nice surprise
We are Lisa and Tom. We stayed at Casa Osvalda, at Nocelle, July 15-25, 2017. Nocelle is above, and slightly downcoast, from Positano. Where to start with this evaluation?
First, Luca, with Summer In Italy, was very helpful. We had some complicating elements with our planning, and Luca was there for us with every question, making it much easier. Happy with Luca, and happy with Summer In Italy.
Second, we were quite happy with Casa Osvalda. Its particular location makes it feel like we were all alone. Seldom did we hear anyone else; it was very quiet, peaceful and tranquil. The house was small with just one bedroom and one bathroom, yet perfect for the two of us.
Mrs. Connie, the owner of Casa Osvalda, was very nice, and very helpful to us. Once we came to understand that her preferred mode of communication is WhatsApp, we "talked" with each other, easily. By seeing what we needed in print, via WhatsApp, Connie was quickly able to read, translate, and reply to us, generally, quickly, and to our satisfaction. If you don't have this app, get it, and use it with Casa Osvalda, and Connie. It will be much easier.
There is a lovely little Mini-market, along the path to Casa Osvalda. We came to shop there most every day, and got to know proprietor Maria, and daughter-in-law, Stefania. For being small, and "away from the crowd," we were impressed with their inventory, and their service. We had excellent sliced ham, sliced smoked cheese, fresh watermelon, fresh bread, Nutella, popcorn (which we popped fresh), butter, eggs, mayonnaise, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. We did not do without. We thank them for being there and supplying the things we needed.
There is a nice bus that runs up and down the mountain, hourly, all day. Given the difficulty in getting a parking space near Nocelle, we parked our car, and used the bus, most days.
We did walk down the mountain into Positano, one day, which we enjoyed, very much.
Casa Osvalda was a very pleasant surprise for us. We liked it so much that we expect to return for an extended stay. We think of Connie as a friend.

Travel tips
- Two excellent eating places within easy walking distance. Useful village shop open a few hours each day.

September 2018 - A wonderful stay in a truly beautiful location. Casa Osvalda was worth every penny and is a very good apartment.
Keep up the good work - it's a lovely place!
Travel tips
- Excellent location for walking and it's easy to get into Positano on foot.
- There is a good bus service from Positano also so if you don't fancy the climb it's easy to get back.
- There is a very nice restaurant in Nocelle and a small store.
- We took a car but it wasn't completely necessary and you could easily stay there without one.

September 2018 - Casa Osvalda took my breath away. I won't go into many details because it is a very well kept secret and I won't want my beautiful villa to become well known :) But with that being said, I don't mind sharing this beautiful place with other travelers.
Connie [the owner] was very nice and helpful. Casa Osvalda was an amazing place to stay. Look forward to coming back! Thanks for the memories!
Travel tips
- I am a very fit person so I did not mind the stairs and/or walking to the bus station. For travelers that do mind stairs and walking, keep those in mind.
- I also did not have a car which was not an inconvenience. However, I relied on the bus for transportation. The bus runs on time which was wonderful. Or you can always hike down to Positano and after a good morning hike, you can eat all the pastries you want :)
- The bus trip to Positano is about 20 minutes down the hill which it was always very entertaining. Buy your bus ticket at the convenience/grocery store on the way up to the parking lot/bus stop. They are cheaper.
- If you are into hiking, do treat yourself to hike Sentiero degli Dei, the trail is right off Casa Osvalda.

July 2018 - Absolutely tranquil, beautiful location. Casa Osvalda is a perfect 'get away from it all' holiday. However it is only 20 mins or so from the shops, bars and restaurants of Positano.
Travel tips
- Parking is limited in Nocelle, if intending to hire a car make sure you find the parking spaces early.

Fantastic
June 2018 - We really liked the Casa Osvalda, especially the view. Bit short of wine glasses but otherwise well equipped.
Owner was charming and very helpful.
“Never hesitate asking for wine glasses! For obvious reasons, they are one of those items that have a tendency to disappear over time because of repeated breakages. At times, owners might not be aware that they are short on wine glasses (depending on how many have been broken and how quickly!), and so they will actually appreciate your asking!„
Travel tips
- Good grocery store and pizza place. Everyone is very friendly.
- It is a bit remote though and you either have to manage the local bus or drive everywhere.

October 2017 - Nocelle is a lovely area, nice local people, great local restaurant, Restaurant La Croce, with helpful friendly staff and great food and wine. Enjoyed the bus trip to and from Positano.
Casa Osvalda is a friendly, neat little house with lovely views of the ocean and spectacular coast. It was ideal for the two of us. Being on the Walk of the Gods makes it special and an added bonus. Unfit/aged visitors may find the stairways from the carpark/bus terminal to the pathway of Nocelle difficult.
Hiring a taxi from Naples airport to Nocelle, (thankyou to Luca for taxi details which we arranged before hand) then using the regular bus service to and from Positano was all one needed, and an experience not to be missed. We salute the bus drivers of Italy!!
Thank you Luca for all your assistance. Summer in Italy could not have been more helpful. You do a great job. Have been subscribed to your newsletter for some years.

September 2017 - We are very pleased with Casa Osvalda, everything is made very comfortable, the interior is made with love and good taste.
Very good to sleep with the window open. This house is very suitable for those who want to live in peace and rest from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Especially we want to thank the staff of "Summer in Italy", all their recommendations were useful and timely, they are very attentive to customer.

September 2017 - We had a great time at the Casa Osvalda.
The location in quiet Nocelle was beautiful and ideal for us, as we have a 3-year-old child and cars are not allowed in Nocelle. For older guests the steps from the parking to the village might be a problem.
The apartment is very beautifully furnished with great details. The kitchen is nice, too, and has everything you could wish for.
The owner was very friendly and helpful, she even gave us fresh fruit and vegetables from her garden.
So if you want to stay at the Amalfi Coast, but a bit away from the tourist masses, the Casa Osvalda is an excellent choice with very good value for money.

September 2017 - Our stay could not have been more perfect! The landlady met us on arrival at the car park in Nocelle and took us (and carried most of our luggage to the awe and amazement of my mother!) to the apartment.
It was perfect! In the pictures its beautiful and even more so in real life - the view from the terrace cannot be described! I could not have been happier with my stay!
The weather was perfect and waking up to that view every morning was amazing! No complaints about Casa Osvalda at all - I cannot recommend it enough!
I hope I can return again some day because it was so peaceful and beautiful and felt just like i was an Italian and lived there! :)

June 2017 - Casa Osvalda was an amazing place to stay.
Nocelle is a tiny little community high up in the cliffs above Positano. It is quiet, and feels much more authentic than the touristy streets of Positano. Positano is however, quite beautiful and fun, and seems to be the most exciting town to visit on the Amalfi Coast, so it's great to stay up in Nocelle, so close but not in the middle of everything.
The view from Casa Osvalda is fantastic -- looks out onto the ocean and you can see Praiano and Capri. The apartment itself is very nice and quaint. It is extremely private.
Connie was a wonderful host and made our trip run very smoothly.
In Nocelle you will find 2 restaurants and a small store for basic items. The food at the restaurants is quite good. There is a bus that travels between Nocelle and Positano, however, the last trip up to Nocelle is around 9 pm. We found that having a rental car was extremely helpful. Beware, however, that the road up to Nocelle is extremely narrow (feels like one lane), steep, and curvy. Parking is also somewhat scarce, but we always eventually found a spot tucked into the cliff within reasonable walking distance from Casa Osvalda.
For people who like to hike, there is a famous path down the hill from Nocelle into Positano (over 1700 steps) which is very scenic.
In sum, we would absolutely recommend Casa Osvalda to anyone looking for an authentic, peaceful and romantic experience on the Amalfi Coast. The rental offers great value for the cost. Again, it should be noted that a car makes it much easier to get out and see the rest of the coast if you feel that you'll likely want to return home after 9 pm. If not, the bus is very handy. Honestly, you could stay up in Nocelle for a week and be perfectly content -- it's wonderful.
Correspondence with Summer In Italy was great! Emails returned extremely promptly. All questions answered quickly. Instructions in voucher were great.

March 2017 - Casa Osvalda is gorgeous and perfect for the couple or small family who just want to get away and relax.
It is located in Nocelle, above Positano and it takes a bus to get there from the center of Positano. The bus runs about once an hour. This can limit the sightseeing ability as you have to plan to ride the bus down and then back later in the day. Having a rental car will do you no good as there are very few places to park.

May 2013 - We visited Casa Osvalda the first week in May 2013 and had a fantastic time. The pictures do not do it justice! The place is beautiful and tranquil. Not only is it very comfortable but all the finishing touches were there, very authentic.
The house was very clean and the owner Connie was very welcoming. The view was breathtaking and we had gorgeous weather. The kitchen had everything we needed to be self catered, the bathroom was great with a powerful shower and there was air-con available if needed.
Although small it was perfect for us as a couple who were looking for a relaxing break. We would both recommend this house to anybody.
Travel tips
- We had a rental car and would say that it is definitely necessary for staying here. There are public buses but they are not that regular. And having your own car gives much more freedom.

November 2011 - Casa Osvalda is a beautiful apartment, away from the coastal busy-ness of Positano. Connie [the owner] helped to make our stay on the Amalfi Coast memorable, with her warmth and generosity.
The apartment is charming and beautifully appointed, with plenty of space and everything you would need. There's a great little terrace for watching the sun set over the sea (bottle of prosecco a must!)
Travel tips
- It's a steep, winding 15 - 20 minute drive (or bus trip to Positano), however the locals are very patient with tourist drivers.
- Nocelle is a tiny hamlet with one very small alimentari (local store) and a fantastic bar and restaurant, Bar Santa Croce. If you are after shops and nightlife, this is not the place for you. If you are after peace and rest, with all the options of the Amalfi Coast within a short distance, stay at Casa Osvalda.

September 2010 - The view was jawdropping, the villa itself very high quality, immaculate, beautifully and tastefully decorated.
You are truly a part of a normal Italian village so do not expect complete peace and quiet - the boys next door are very noisy, the church bells are very loud, and people are going about their everyday lives working in their gardens, renovating their homes. This is part of the magic of being in Italy. They live their lives with gusto. Honestly, if it wasn't a bit noisy then it would be so perfect no one would ever leave, and it wouldn't be available to stay in. In between the above it is mostly very quiet.
When I arrived on the bus and Connie, the owner, met me, a lovely village man insisted on carrying my bag down the many steps. Connie was lovely and when understanding fails between you, you can talk with her daughter on the phone. Connie brought over some homemade cake for me on Nocelle's Festa Day, a delicious surprise. When I had to leave very early on the Saturday to get back to Napoli, I was able to get my deposit back the night before, as they trusted me to leave the place tidy.
A lovely lovely place.
I enjoyed all my dealings with Summer in Italy. I was impressed enough with their website to choose a villa managed by them. Luca and others were swift in replying to questions and very pleasant. Once booked, their information was comprehensive and helped me feel confident about finding my way to a very small mountain village on my own without speaking Italian. I would choose them over anyone else if holidaying in Italy again.
Travel tips
- I didn't rent a car and did not need one. The small Flavio Gioia bus turned up right on time to the minute every time I went to catch one - at least twice a day. Last bus up from Positano is not until 11.20 pm July to mid-Sept. Timetable only mentions times leaving Positano - note that bus arrives in Nocelle 25 mins later at about quarter to the hour - don't be late as it turns right around and heads back. Much easier to let these amazing men squeeze into places not large enough for a vespa let alone a bus than try to negotiate the roads yourself. The SITA bus to surrounding towns was late only once of almost daily trips.
- All towns around were amazing but I liked Ravello best.
