Gorgeous and very cozy, clean and comfortable
September 2024 - The house was gorgeous and very cozy, clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for us, close to everything but still quiet at night and we could have spent the entire time on the terrace if we wanted. Most of all, Angela, the keeper was charming, gracious and very helpful.
I'm not sure how I found Summer In Italy, but you have been wonderful to work with. Incredibly responsive and helpful - Grazie!

One of the best locations to stay in Positano
September 2024 - I don’t have other places in Positano to compare this to, as it was my first visit, but I can confidently say this is one of the best locations to stay.
In Positano, location is everything, and this spot couldn’t be better. It offers stunning views and was spacious enough for my family of four, including our 20-month-old and 5-year-old. Surprisingly, it’s also very stroller-friendly. After a few steps to reach the main road, you can turn right and easily take the stroller all the way down to the beach, shops, and restaurants. If you prefer to take the stairs, they’re not too bad either.
The hostess was fantastic and communicated with us very well. Highly recommend!

The most amazing view of Positano!
September 2024 - The most amazing view of Positano! We had a wonderful three days staying at Casa Gladiola with our daughter, the home had everything you could need, including great wifi and air conditioning for the hot weather. Very helpful hosts and a great location.
Travel tips
- We enjoyed walking down the hill and getting cornettos, pizza and pasta from Collina Bakery, for the scenic walk down the beach.
- You can also walk down the steps straight to the Spiaggia Grande, but our favourite beach was Fornillo Beach which we walked to.
- Getting dropped off and picked up by taxis can be tricky on the narrow streets, so make sure to communicate well with the host about your arrival time and drivers.

If we are ever back in Positano, we will definitely stay here!
July 2024 - I cannot express how happy we were with our stay. We had a driver bring us to Positano and he and Angela (property manager) were on the phone coordinating the check-in before we arrived. Angela was wonderful throughout the whole process and very helpful/informative.
The property was clean - and air conditioned! The steps in front of the property led right down to the beach, and it was super close to nice restaurants. If we are ever back in Positano, we will definitely stay here!

Unmatched view, possibly the best view you can get in Positano!
June 2024 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Gladiola! The view is unmatched and possibly the best view you can get in Positano. We took time to enjoy the view everyday and night we were at Casa Gladiola. It was clean, comfortable, and provided everything we would need during our stay. The location is perfect, close enough to everything Positano had to offer, but also far enough away to escape the crowds.
Angela [the caretaker] was very helpful when we met, and always answered our questions right away. If we were to come back to Positano we would definitely stay here again.
Great place to stay and the best location. Communication was great. Angela who helped throughout our stay was very helpful.
Travel tips
- Restaurants:
- Restaurant Da Vincenzo was excellent, reservation likely required well in advance, or just go for lunch when it is not so busy and walk-ins are welcome.
- Restaurant Da Bruno, other side of town but also very good.
- Restaurant Saraceno D'Oro, away from the busiest parts of town but a good place to eat.
- Take it Easy Take Away, gelato and pizza for a good price.
- Shops:
- Nana Positano, hand made sandals.
- Pepe, handbags and clothes.
- Adventure:
- Path of the Gods hike -- take the bus to Amalfi then transfer to a second bus to Agerola. Get off before Agerola in the Bomerano area. Go as early as possible. Great way to see the coast up high.
- Private Boat Tour -- our all day private boat tour was excellent and a great way to see the coast from the water.

Loved the old Italy charm of the place. We will be back!
June 2024 - We recently stayed at Casa Gladiola for three weeks. We wanted to be able to relax plus still be in the middle of the Amalfi Coast. We were met by our host Angela. She is the sweetest and most caring host I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with.
Of course, the view is off the charts and the big selling point of this property. It also has a clothes washing machine which came in very handy. The refrigerator went out after we had been there a few days on a Saturday afternoon. I contacted Angela and she immediately responded and came to the house. She immediately got on the phone with the owner, and it was determined to get another refrigerator. Apparently, the appliance stores close early on Saturdays, so she was desperately trying to find us another fridge. She left for a while and then text me a new fridge was on the way and will be brought down by porters. She returned with the porters, and we had a new fridge. She wouldn't let me tip the porters saying this was her job. The house is 114 years old and it shows in some aspects, but we loved the old Italy charm of the place. We will be back!
Angela is a great representative of this property. She does her job exceptionally well and we hope to deal with her the next time we visit your house.
Booking through Summer In Italy was super easy and information was sent in plenty of time to make plans if needed.
Travel tips
- There is a great little store just down the street that has a little bit of everything. If you don't see it, just ask.
- We rented scooters a few times from the place at the top of the steps.
- There are all kinds of great places to eat right around the house.

I liked coordinating very much with Summer In Italy. I liked the Summer In Italy website and I liked working with Angela [the property manager], she was very nice! I would rent from Summer In Italy again. Thanks for all your coordination! Ciao
Travel tips
- Suggest taking a ferry to Ischia, less crowded and the beaches have sand along with touring the beautiful Castle! Take the early morning ferry to make the most of your day.
- Go to Fornillo Beach around the corner in Positano, it is less crowded and more peaceful, beach rentals are more reasonable as well.
- Take ferries and taxis most of the time as the buses are crowded.
- Learn some Italian before you go, they appreciate it more when you know their language!
- Don't go to Chez Black Restaurant on the beach in Positano, it is overrated, expensive and waiters are rude.
- The bakeries have good food to go and less expensive. Walk up and down the street instead of taking the stairs to the Positano waterfront and shops.

THE BEST view of Positano of all other housing!
April 2024 - WE loved staying at Casa Gladiola and I am convinced it has THE BEST view of Positano of all other housing! It was perfect for a mother/daughter quick getaway. The location was good and easy to find - amid all the small passageways of stairs. Its location on the cliff made it just right for going down to the beach and back up again without too much stress. I highly recommend it! Check in was flawless with Angela [the caretaker] making us feel immediately welcomed.
I found Summer In Italy on line by chance. It was a very good experience! I will recommend to my friends.

Perfect location!
May 2023 - Casa Gladiola is well looked after, very clean and has everything you need. Location was perfect for my daughter and I. Great restaurants all within walking distance. Beach was fabulous, more restaurants down there also. Cute shops everywhere. Laundry at Cada Edda was very handy to have, terrace had enough space to sit and eat a meal. To get to the front door though be prepared to carry your luggage down and back up when you check out.
Luca who looks after the bookings was amazing and very well organized. I would use Summer In Italy for sure the next time we travel to Italy. I trust Luca 100%.
“Future guests, if you ever wondered whether there is an alternative at carrying your luggage up and down the stairs of Positano, the answer is a definite yes. April 2023 - My husband and I stayed at Casa Gladiola for a week at the end of March/beginning of April. The furnishings in the apartment are basic but the bed is comfortable and there was lots of hot water for showers. The washing machine was a bonus and the host provided washing powder and lots of clothes pegs for the drying rack.
The apartment location was perfect. We could walk easily to the beach or the bus stop (the roads are steep everywhere in Positano but just take your time going up). We loved the view so much that we cooked dinner at the apartment several times. The gas cooker and microwave were all we needed and there were plenty of pots and pans for simple meals. There are several nice markets near the beach so picking up delicious produce, pasta and wine was easy to do.
Summer in Italy is a wonderful company. Luca and the staff were helpful and extremely responsive to questions before and during our stay. The information provided about finding the flat and what to expect from a property in Italy was detailed and very much appreciated. In fact communicating with Luca in particular feels like chatting with a family member. We always felt that our questions were considered carefully and our wishes as travellers were of the utmost importance. Thank you Luca and Summer in Italy!

Best thing about it is the location
September 2022 - The best thing about Casa Gladiola is its location - both for convenience and the view. Casa Gladiola is a short, easy walk to the beach and all the best shops, restaurants, bakeries, pharmacies, etc. Waking up to the view of Positano every day was a dream, and the home includes everything you need from a full kitchen to a washing machine.
Summer In Italy is a great option for variety and alternative to extremely pricey, much smaller hotel rooms. I travelled with a 2 month old and would not have enjoyed my trip without the extra amenities that Summer In Italy provided (multiple rooms, full kitchen, etc.). Will certainly use again in the future.
Travel tips
- Tips could go on forever... Lentino airport transfer was much cheaper than alternative options. Locally owned and operated for over 25 years - Tommaso is the best.
- Best breakfast nearby at Posides Cafe, great pizza (without the stairs to the beach) at Restaurant Saraceno D'Oro, Latteria Mini Market Positano is great for cappuccino and pastries. The list is endless, Casa Gladiola is near it all.
- If you really hate the beach stairs, you can avoid by following the road to Restaurant Max.
- Blue Star Positano Boat Tours and Rentals was incredible and is a family owned business.
- If you want a pool, hotels sell day passes for EUR 50 per person. Paying the fee is much cheaper than buying a room and you get far more from your Summer In Italy home.

Awesome view
August 2022 - You are renting this primarily for the view which is awesome. The apartment was clean, facilities were adequate. Keep in mind that this has been around a while and is not a modern hotel. That being said the property manager was very nice, gave good direction as to how everything worked and overall it was a great experience.
Summer In Italy did a fine job and answered all of our questions in a timely fashion.
Travel tips
- Italians drive very different than Americans... We rented a scooter, and I own 2, but next time I think I would just take a ferry. It was so crowded in August, on the street going to Amalfi, we turned around. A ferry would have dropped us off in town.

Perfect place, we will stay here from now on!
July 2020 - This is our second trip to Positano and we knew what area we wanted to stay in as we consider the view of the village optimal from the right hand side.
We were so lucky to find Casa Gladiola, which is as good as it gets in Positano without breaking the bank. The balcony is huge, the rooms great and kitchen well equipped. There are hundreds of steps down to the beach, but that was great as we wanted to have the view.
Our host was perfect and check-in and check-out were without any hassle.
This is the perfect place and we will stay here from now on!

Travel tips
- Grocery Latteria very close by.
- Fishmonger by the end of the stairs to the beach.

Mid level on mountain, so not too low nor too high
October 2019 - This was ideal. Mid level on mountain, so not too low nor too high, so those famous Positano steps are manageable. There are even several cafes and bars 5 minutes away as well as a small grocery. Was traveling with an elderly person and it was manageable even for them.

Highly recommended
August 2019 - If you want an apartment with an amazing view of Positano then I highly recommend this place.
It's in a great location and easy to find your way to all the interesting places around. There is also a WONDERFUL little deli and food market up on the main road (just 39 steps up from the apartment) by the name of "Latteria" which has EVERYTHING you would need, and I HIGHLY recommend that you go and check it out.
The host was very kind to provide 3 big bottles of water in the fridge which I thought was a very kind gesture. Furthermore, if you messaged, they were quick to respond and really wanted to make my stay relaxing and enjoyable.
Travel tips
- There are a number of restaurants and shops in walking distance at the top of the main road. Some that I remember are: Caffe Positano, Da Vincenzo, Bruno's Restaurant and of course the deli & food market shop I mentioned Latteria.
- My tip to guests and travellers - I hope you are fit as the stairs to the apartment from the beach are exhausting, however, the apartment and the VIEW are simply AMAZING and worth it. Finally, make sure you always stay hydrated by carrying some water with you.

Casa Gladiola was amazing!
November 2018 - Casa Gladiola was amazing! Very quiet, only approximately 36 stairway steps from the main street. For Positano, this was minimal steps! If you don’t like steps, don’t come to Positano!
This location is beautiful and very comfortable. Not too far from Restaurant Il Fornillo, a little grocery shop down the street, convenience type market across the street, gelato and sandwich shop close too. It’s about a 10 min walk down the main road to get to “downtown” and much farther from the SITA bus stop if you plan to utilize buses to get you to and from Positano.
Rossella [the caretaker] made our stay so lovely.
Travel tips
- The best way to arrive here is by private transfer. Schedule it in advance. We failed to secure private transportation for departure. Last minute taxis were very expensive, so we decided to take the bus.
- The SITA bus stop was one and a half miles and much of it up hill. We were rolling our suitcases and got quite the work out before departure. [Future guests: if you ever wondered whether there is an alternative at rolling your suitcases uphill to the closest SITA bus stop, the answer is a definite yes. You can get there using the local bus, whose stop is only few meters away! :) ]

September 2018 - Fabulous apartment in Positano with an incredible view!! We absolutely loved it. We used the A/C in the bedroom at night - it was very efficient and welcome. The washing machine was easy to use, and did a fine job. Had we wanted to cook, we could have with the well-equipped kitchen. The bed was comfortable, with good pillows. The terrace was amazing! Coffee before sunrise over the mountains, and glass of wine and/or limoncello in the evening were perfect.
Rosella [the caretaker] communicated with our driver from Naples and met us at the designated spot; then showed us around the apartment.
Summer In Italy was excellent - the guide you sent us in advance described everything we needed to know. Quick response times, nice web site which accurately depicted the apartment.
Travel tips
- Restaurant La Pergola had excellent pasta with lobster and sea bream on the beach.
- We used Raffaele's Sorrento Car Transfer to/from Naples with comfortable A/C cars and safe drivers each way. Raffaele himself took us back to Naples with a stop at The Excavations of Pompeii, and arranged for Alessandra to be our guide there. He also stopped at a local winery for tasting and lunch. Professional service.
- We used Plaghia Charter for a private boat to Capri, 7 hours with Saverio, our captain. It was the highlight of our three weeks in Europe. Stops for swimming, prosecco, and very interesting discussions with Saverio were memorable.

Absolutely loved staying at Casa Gladiola!
May 2018 - My husband and I absolutely loved staying at Casa Gladiola! It is so authentic, the view itself can not be beat and it was a dream!! We enjoyed the location and spent so much time on the terrace.
Just from my photos and videos I have had a number of friends asking where I was staying and I have highly recommended Casa Gladiola to them! We couldn't have asked for a better place and it was by far the best place we stayed during our trip to several cities in Italy.
The caretaker Rosella, was great too. She gave us quite a few recommendations, she met us to hand off the key and showed us how to operate some of the things in the house and it was so easy to checkout. The place is stunning and we would stay there again in a heart beat!!
LOVED Summer In Italy. They were extremely responsive, offered a ton of helpful information, went out of the way to explain the process, gave specific directions and I highly recommend booking with them!

Authentic and beautiful
April 2018 - If you want an authentic beautiful holiday at Positano then look no further! The view from the balcony is to die for!!!! We spent literally hours sitting there drinking coffee and wine and looking out to the amazing view.
Luca and Summer in Italy were great to deal with and the local host Ms Rossella was so lovely!
Travel tips
- When you stay go to the grocery store just down the road she will tell you about - they have all homemade lasagne, meatballs, grilled vegetables, arancini etc that you can buy takeaway and bring back to the apartment and heat up in the microwave to eat dinner n the balcony drinking local wine (also bought at that supermarket) for a third of the cost of eating a restaurant, and we had better views!
- Good safe parking is available at Mandara Parking garage just down the road!

Highly recommended
November 2017 - I stayed for one month in Casa Gladiola. It is simply furnished, very clean and very spacious. I have stayed at other apartments in Europe and was genuinely surprised at the size of the rooms. Also of note is very strong water pressure as well as excellent hot water.
The highlight of Casa Gladiola is the beautiful view from the terrace. An additional plus is that Casa Gladiola is only 38 or so steps down from the street.
Getting around Positano is fairly easy from Casa Gladiola. Either by walking down the road or going down the stairs to the beach area. There is also a local bus stop at the top of the stairs.
If I return to Positano I would certainly stay at Casa Gladiola again and highly recommend it.

Everything worked out perfectly for us
July 2017 - We enjoyed our stay at Casa Gladiola very much. It seemed traditional/basic at first sight but it really had everything we needed. The view of the town and the sea was simply fabulous.
Everything worked out perfectly for us - thank you!
The service we received from Summer In Italy was above average. They answered all questions, even the silliest, promptly and politely and reminded me all the upcoming events in relation to the booking and vacation. Enjoyed the newsletters I received after the booking, too.
Travel tips
- Take a water taxi to one of the nearby beaches (e.g. to Laurito Beach) to get away from the crowd and enjoy the magnificent view of the rocks along the coast.
- It was very handy to have the little grocery store just around the corner.
- There are lots of steps to climb from Spiaggia Grande/Fornillo Beach to the house, but they kept us fit.

It was perfect for us, in every way
May 2017 - Me and my husband loved Casa Gladiola! It was perfect for us in every way and the location was perfect! I absolutely loved the Italian charm of the apartment. It gave me a comfortable familiarity of my childhood going to my grandmothers home. The view of the sea and the church and town just outside and below us on the balcony was stunning! There is so much within walking distance, many restaurants, shops and a little grocery store within steps. We loved walking the road down to the beach where we could shop along the way or stop and have a drink or a bite to eat.
Ms. Rossella [the caretaker] met us when we arrived and couldn't have been more helpful.
Summer In Italy was so easy to work with and we will definitely use them again for our future trips to Italy. Thank you for making our dream trip a reality which was perfect from the planning stages through to the end of trip, we have memories which will last a lifetime.
I have already highly recommended them to friends and family planning trips to Italy! They sent us detailed information on the apartment and the area as well as helpful tips in general which was really helpful as this was our first trip to Italy. They were so great about returning emails, phone calls and answering questions and offering recommendations. We will definitely use them again!
Travel tips
- Our day trip to Capri was just magical! We used Lucibello Boats for the trip and they were wonderful! Our Captain was Giovanni who made the trip so special. He played beautiful music and treated us to prosecco and limoncello while he cruised all along the Isle of Capri and even stopped on our way back so we could swim in the sea!! Just AMAZING!!
- Restaurant Da Vincenzo is just at the top of the stairs and is delicious and the service is on point!
- We also had lunch on our last day at Restaurant Tre Sorelle on the beach with family we met there and it was absolutely delicious (try the grilled buffalo mozzarella wrapped in lemon leaves and best pizza on the Amalfi Coast...yum!!) and the service was beyond wonderful!

We loved it!
July 2016 - We loved Casa Gladiola! It was in the perfect location, only 30 steps down from the main road. There are quite a few stairs down to the town but no where near as many as some places. Casa Gladiola is in a very manageable location but still high enough to have a great view over Positano. The furnishings may not be to everyone's taste but we loved it, very traditional, beautiful older furniture. The bedroom was very big and the lounge room/kitchen was plenty big enough for 2 people. We didn't spend too much time in here though as were out on the balcony enjoying the view. It is worth staying here just for that. The kitchen was quite basic but did have everything that you need.
We arrived before check-in time, Rosella [the caretaker] met us and let us leave our bags in the apartment so we didn't have to drag them around with us. She was really lovely and readily available if we needed her. A great host!
I chose to book with Summer In Italy as you had a good selection of properties and we always prefer to stay in apartments rather than hotels. Your customer service was great. I will definitely be recommending you to others and hopefully will use you again when we next come to Italy.
Travel tips
- If you don't want to walk down to town for food there are Caffe Positano and Da Vincenzo up the steps on the main road, both have amazing views.
- Walking by main road back up to the apartment is not that steep if you don't feel like taking the stairs.
- Get the free boat from the port to Da Ferdinando (or any other beach bar) to Fornillo beach. Beds and loungers much cheaper than the main beach plus it is a bit quieter.
- A bit expensive but I would recommend getting a taxi to Positano, it is not the place to be carrying your luggage around. You will get your holiday off to a much better start.

October 2013 - Casa Gladiola's location is fantastic. We learnt to walk down the stairs to the township and it's an easy walk back around the road.
The view is sensational. The furniture is homely, however the pillows could do with upgrading. The shower screen would be hard to negotiate with people of above average size or elderly. A few wine glasses would be appreciated by most guests and perhaps matches to light the stove rather than the lighter for safety reasons. We loved the place and our host was welcoming on arrival.
Absolutely loved the efficiency with which Summer In Italy found Casa Gladiola for us. The information sent to us was very detailed. I will certainly look at Summer In Italy again for future visits.
Travel tips
- There are plenty of restaurants nearby along the road to the west of the villa that have sensational ocean and township views and very obliging waiters and and good food at reasonable prices.
- The little store a few meters down the road was well stocked and had helpful workers.
- The bus trip along the coast is great but I would suggest anyone who gets motion sickness to take medication first.
- All towns along the coast are worth a visit as are the Isle of Capri and Pompeii.
- For those who like swimming, walk down to jetty and along the coastal walk to the little beach further north of the town.
- There are two main bus routes... The inner town route and the bus trip that drives between the towns. Once you know drop off points they are easy to use but can get crowded. Don't forget to ring the bell to stop at your bus stop or you'll find the bus driver will keep going.

Travel tips
- The coffee pot leaked. Only major issue, which is not even an issue.
- I would have shuttles pick you up for two of the greatest restaurants, La Tagliata and Il Ritrovo. If you call they will pick you up right up the stairs. We told them to pick us up at Hotel Regina since it is right at the top of stairs.
- There is a great grocer about 50 feet to the right on the top of the stairs. They have fresh croissants in the morning. I think the locals saw me in my PJ's more than once going for croissants.
- We also laid on the beach. Not the main beach but headed to the port and then up the stairs to the right to Fernando's. 8 euro a day gets you a beach chair/towel/and the most fantastic beach ever. The food and drinks were very inexpensive and it was a wonderful experience.

From start to finish my experience was great.
I thank you for all your assistance it was great working with you all! I booked with you because you were so easy to work with. You always responded in a timely manner to all my questions. Thank You
Travel tips
- If you take villa stairs down it will take you to beach. Just keep going left. Or, you can walk down the road to get through center of town.
- If you take the road, there is a great breakfast and lunch stop with wifi called Casa e Bottega. Also, nice hand crafted pottery. Excellent food and people are great.
- There is also a small store on you way to town for incidentals. It's not very far from villa at all.
- I also did a tour of Positano with Christine, I believe the website is discoverpositano.it. She really gives you excellent advice to really enjoy your stay in Positano.
- Casa Gladiola is across the street from Hotel Reginella so it was always easy for restaurants to pick you up. There was never a fee but I always tipped the driver a couple of euros. Definitely take advantage of this service.

September 2012 - The view made me gasp with delight. It's half way up the mountain, so you can get to the beach in about 5 minutes, if you want or go for a good hike up the road. There is a little store about 30 metres down the road, for all the wine cheese and fresh fruit you want. Restaurants are all over but I liked the third one up the hill, it has an even better view. We wondered why this place was so cheap, it's just a little older, for us that just added to the charm.
Thank you, keep up the good work.

July 2011 - We had a wonderful two week stay in Casa Gladiola in June. The apartment had plenty of space for my wife, me and our two children (13 and 11 years).
Best features are the location and view. Just five minutes from the beach, in a quiet location, and a convenient distance to the main road, you can't get a better location in Positano. And the view is fantastic, looking out over the beach, church, Positano and the mountains. We never grew tired of sitting on the balcony looking out on that.
Positano is also a convenient base for touring the Amalfi Coast with good access to Capri, Pompeii, Salerno, Sorrento and all the points along the Amalfi Coast. Being able to come home to Casa Gladiola after a day's touring was a highlight.
Summer in Italy made the whole process painless. Being able to pay the full amount by credit card in advance was very convenient, rather than having to carry large amounts of cash which is required by some other websites. And the detailed information provided beforehand, including how to get to Positano was very helpful. You're doing a great job.
Travel tips
- A benefit of staying in an apartment is you can choose to do your own cooking. Positano has a fish shop down near the ferry terminal, where you can buy fresh fish, octopus, squid, mussels and shrimps. Cook up a seafood feast, sit on the balcony of Casa Gladiola overlooking Positano, and watch the sunset.
