Loved it!
October 2024 - We loved Casa Farfalla. Balconies and view were perfect. Spaces were clean and accommodations were great for 4 people. Homeowner was very accommodating and thoughtful to our needs.
Location was close to amenities and the bus stop. Highly recommend!
Summer In Italy was recommended to me by a previous user. Very happy with the communication provided, documentation about the villa and all the information on the website.
Travel tips
- It was preferable to our family to not be in the more touristy areas of the Amalfi Coast (towns of Amalfi and Positano), so Praiano was perfect. It does take some time to figure out the ins and outs and timing of the Sitabus, but once you do, you can plan accordingly.
- It was easy to get to the trail from Praiano that led to the Il Sentiero degli Dei (Path of Gods). Just keep in mind it’s a little over 1000 steps before actually reaching Il Sentiero degli Dei, but it was fine for us and it saved us time rather than taking public transportation to the village of Bomerano.

October 2023 - Wonderful! Our hostess Gemma was so good to us! Tiramisù and limoncello for treats. Gemma may not speak fluent English but she is wonderful in trying to assist us. I would highly recommend her apartment for a place to stay for traveling the Amalfi Coast. We loved this place and the hostess is wonderful!
There is nothing to be done to improve this property! We enjoyed fresh produce from the garden! Just lovely and so clean.
Summer In Italy will always be a go to for me to look for future stays! This company was wonderful. Our time was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid and Summer In Italy honored our reservation 3 years later without any loss of deposit. That in itself should speak of how wonderful this company is. Always so nice and informative when I had questions and really willing to help with all aspects of travel. Next time I will just let them find the drivers and restaurants etc. The takeaway is trust Summer In Italy they take the anxiety out of the travel and planning! This company is honest and so trustworthy! They are Italy! ♥️
Travel tips
- Casa Farfalla is wonderful in itself, and the house has very easy entrance.
- Great restaurants across the street and below the home.
- Looks out at the sea and Positano.
- Take the bus! Learn the routes! Praiano is a wonderful place to stay as long as you learn the bus routes!
- Go to the beach below! Because there are so many straps to the beach you get a good workout but spending the day at the beach is so worth every step you take. Stop at the bar 285 steps up from the beach and have a Donkey! Yummy drink!
- In the evenings go to the square at the church and enjoy the children and families that visit there!
- Take the cooking class at the Hotel Margherita! It is up a ways and the view is glorious!
- Most of all just soak up the views and the love from the wonderful Italian community!

Very quiet even though in the main centre, and the views were amazing!
May 2023 - We had a wonderful time at Casa Farfalla. It was very clean and comfortable. Very spacious. We had everything we needed. The views from our 2 balconies were amazing. It was very quiet even though we were in the main centre. The little supermarket, pizzeria, restaurants etc were only 2 minute walk away, also bus stop not far. We used bus transport to go to Positano and Amalfi. Praiano is a pretty little village, locals very friendly, not too many tourists.
Our host Gemma was lovely, very friendly and helpful. On our first morning she arrived at our door with a lovely crostata, it was delicious. She also gave us miniature mandarins from her tree and lovely sweet lemons.
We recommend Casa Farfalla for a great holiday. Thank you Gemma!

This is our second time staying here and it will not be our last!
October 2022 - Casa Farfalla is fantastic. The location is perfect; close to the bus stop, a market, the beach, and hiking. The house is amazingly clean and well equipped. The view from the porch is one from a dream! This is our second time staying here and it will not be our last!
The host, Gemma, is unbelievably accommodating and kind.
We have used Summer In Italy for three of our four vacations to Italy. Top notch crew that is always there to help. Top quality places to stay and very competitive. If you need anything in addition to accommodations they will help. Auguri to Luca and the crew at Summer In Italy.
Travel tips
- The Path of the God is right out the front door.
- Bar del Sole is down the street, as well as the bus stop, and a few other great restaurants!
- The market down the street is fine, as well as the Mini Market Tutto Per Tutti.
- We absolutely love Praiano. Seek out Bob Art, the spiaggia and the cafe on the way down to Gavitella Beach (Mirante Cafe) and the upper area of Praiano (Kasai Restaurant), and the cafe at the gym.
- We also love hiking up to Bomerano... A great little town. Hike back, or take the bus via Amalfi.

Great spot! Spacious, well equipped and with spectacular view
April 2022 - Casa Farfalla was such a great spot. The views from your private large balcony/terrace are amazing, some of the best on the Amalfi Coast and all yours to enjoy peacefully. The apartment was spacious and well equipped and the bedrooms all have the spectacular view...
Mrs Gemma, the owner lives next door and is such a lovely lady and really helpful. She helped ensure that we had a lovely stay and gave us lots of lovely treats including a huge Tiramisù - which is my elderly papa's absolute favourite dessert so he was in heaven - plus lemons, wine, fruit tart. She really was super generous. Many thanks Mrs Gemma.
Also thanks to Summer In Italy team for their excellent service which helped make our stay in the Amalfi Coast so good. Loved it! Found you on line when looking due a place in Praiano. Had never heard of you before so looked you up on line and your reviews were great - was a little worried that they were too good! In fact they were spot on. Many thanks.
Travel tips
- If you're looking for a good and interesting place to eat, there is a great little restaurant fairly new place nearby called Cialì Bistrot. Their modern take on steak tartare is excellent as was all we ate and the service is wonderful. Had been told that about Kasai but were not very impressed. Che Bontà is a great cheap and cheerful place. Both are within easy walking distance.

June 2019 - This was better than we expected. Nice decor, clean and everything that you need.
The apartment was ideal to get bus or water bus from the beach to Positano and Amalfi. We would definitely stay again. We had a lovely holiday!
The host Gemma didn't speak English but we managed to communicate well. Gemma is a lovely lady and was there when we needed help. Thank you Gemma for the lovely pastry and courgettes.
Summer In Italy are really good and always on hand to help with any enquiries. This is the second time I've used them and will do so again. Thank you to all your staff.
Travel tips
- Get the bus early to visit Amalfi and Ravello.
- Bar del Sole was our favourite bar for coffee in the morning and wine later.
- When you go down to the beach be aware that there are many steps. There is a lovely cocktail bar to visit on your way back up.
- The restaurant on the beach, which is rock but great for snorkeling, has lovely food. The lemon and shrimp pasta was fab as well as the fish and other dishes.

Casa Farfalla is an ideal place to stay for several days
August 2018 - Casa Farfalla is an ideal place to stay for several days. The location is ideal, Praiano is located right in the center of the Amalfi Coast, and really a beautiful little tourist town where you can find good restaurant, groceries, pharmacy, etc. Casa Farfalla has one of the most beautiful views of the coast, it's quite heavenly, overlooking the sea, the coast and the beautiful town of Positano, it's is really beautiful! I would return to Casa Farfalla without hesitation if I will spend 10 days in the area again.
It was PERFECT. We did not miss anything, the house is very well equipped and everything works well. Gemma [the owner] is really very friendly and available for any questions. She even spoiled us a few times with succulent tomatoes, pears and even a good pie with marmalade!! She is a very good hostess.
I really liked our experience, it was the first time we booked with Summer In Italy and it was a great experience, very easy. What I loved most was the follow-up that you gave us regularly, I really enjoyed it. Thank you for this dream trip!!
Travel tips
- Casa Farfalla is super central, getting around by bus is very easy, ticket purchase at 1.30 euro at 2 minutes from the house.
- In Amalfi, a 3-hour visit to a lemon orchard is really interesting and impressive.
- Visit the beautiful town of Positano, it's so beautiful!
- From Positano, take the boat to get to Capri Island.
- Several hikes available in the area, my favorite was the Valle delle Ferriere hike.
- The Emerald Grotto nearby (5.00 euro) is worth it, yes it is not long but it is very beautiful and I can say now that I visited a cave in Italy. :)
- Go to FURORE absolutely, small pebble beach absolutely beautiful at only 10 minutes from Casa Farfalla.

Casa Farfalla was just amazing!
June 2018 - Casa Farfalla was just amazing! These are the best 7 days we've spent on a holiday. I can definitely say that with ease. The proximity to the main road with less walking was such a boon. Not that we would have minded if it was a long walk. But the views are just stunning. The older nature of the rooms and the decor inside was so good and it showed the love and history of the place. It's been there since 1889! We are in awe of this place and so happy that we chose Praiano instead of staying in Positano.
Gemma [the owner] is a wonderful lady and she took care of us and guided us and told us everything we needed. An absolute gem. Gemma, you're a wonderful Lady! Lots of love from The Botadkars! :)
I'm so thrilled we've found you, Summer In Italy!

May 2018 - We really felling love with Casa Farfalla!! Casa Farfalla was very clean, but there was no living room. The kitchen was the main gathering room, which is typical in Italian families!
Mrs. Gemma was a Gem!! So nice even with the language difference. She was so sweet and gave us our space. She also made a pastry, Tiramisù, and gave us a basket of Nespole. Yes, we would visit again!
Luca and Summer In Italy were very professional and answered all of our questions. Luca answered our emails and helped solve our problems, which were limited!

You could not ask for a more perfect view
June 2017 - Our terrace was our living room. What a view. You could not ask for a more perfect view. We could step away from the tourist and relax on the terrace. Casa Farfalla has the Wi-Fi Internet access, so we could stay in touch with home.
Gemma [the owner] is wonderful. The perfect hostess. She does not speak a lot of English, but we always manage to understand each other. She goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. She is very helpful, and makes your stay more enjoyable.
I have been booking with Summer In Italy for over 10 years. I go every two years to Italy, and Summer In Italy is who I book with for my time on the Amalfi Coast. They are very helpful .
Travel tips
- The bus stops right in front of building.
- You are at the back of the building, so very little noise.
- Being in back gives you a full view of the sea and of Positano.

Would definitely re-book if holidaying on the Amalfi Coast again
June 2017 - We loved staying at Casa Farfalla and would definitely re-book if holidaying on the Amalfi Coast again. The description of the apartment was accurate and the apartment itself was very clean, well equipped with comfortable beds! The view from the terrace is superb - what can beat a view of Positano to the right and Capri in view in the distance!
Signora Gemma [the owner] was very friendly, welcoming ad hospitable and a great help re SITA bus tickets...
The staff at Summer In Italy were very professional and extremely helpful and organised. Thank you for helping us to find a great place to stay!
Travel tips
- Our main tip is re parking. When you arrive in Praiano the Hotel Smeraldo is almost the first building you see on the right. Drive past it, find somewhere to turn around (not easy) and drive back and park on the left outside the Hotel. When you make contact with Signora Gemma, please insist on walking the parking route before you undertake it so you know exactly what it entails. The parking space of Casa Farfalla is fine but you have to negotiate a couple of VERY tight bends downhill, and although Signora Gemma tries to help the language barrier can make it difficult! You enter the gateway on the left and IMMEDIATELY have to turn a sharp right to go downhill, avoiding various parked Vespas, then the path turns left back on itself and you need to take the outside of the bend. The parking space is straight ahead of you and there is space to turn round so you are facing the way you came. There are then literally a dozen steps up to the apartment from there.
- A car is not essential as the buses are good and driving along the coast from place to place takes time due to the inevitable traffic jams, usually involving two buses meeting on a one way stretch which then entails one line of traffic reversing to create space to pass!
- SITA bus tickets need to purchased in advance of travel, and we would advise buying them a few days before to ensure that the shop is open when you need it. We found them for sale at the mobile phone shop (same side of street) but about a quarter of a mile walk further into Praiano, and tickets can be bought in strips if you anticipate several journeys.
- Praiano has a good selection of eating places and we especially liked the restaurant just
- opposite the Hotel Smeraldo, and also Trattoria San Gennaro which overlooks the cathedral square.
- The two small supermarkets on the main street are well equipped and catered for all our needs.
- There is a passageway near the Hotel Smeraldo entrance which takes you right down to the water's edge. Although it involves a hike of several hundred steps back up(!) it is well worth it for a swim and to enjoy the restaurant/cafe down there - it is like a different world.
- Conversely, if you like a hike, a walk up the hillside is well signposted to the Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods) with magnificent views.
- We visited Pompeii and Herculaneum, took a boat trip to Capri from Positano, and visited Amalfi and Ravello, as well as exploring Praiano itself and walking to the Marina di Praia Beach and the lovely Restaurant Il Pirata.

An authentic feel of Italian life
August 2016 - Casa Farfalla gives you an authentic feel of Italian life. It was clean and well equipped. It was worth every euro we were charged. It was centrally place between Positano and Amalfi. The people are friendly and all spoke highly of Gemma [the owner] and her family and we fully agree.
We were made to feel welcome by the owner and many gifts were showed upon us by Gemma.
A great team from start to finish. Well use Summer In Italy services again.
Travel tips
- Shops are a few minutes walk. The fruit and veg are fresh and are reasonable priced. There's a great butcher and fishmonger selling locally caught fish.
- The beach is quite a walk I was informed the beach is pebbles not sand so the right footwear is recommended but still worth it.
- Parking: I scratched the side of the car getting in, so if you are driving you need smaller than a Peugeot 308.
- Use the buses as they stop right outside the property. Tickets can purchase from the computer shop about 500 meters down the road on the right.
- Word of caution: if your not a fluent Italian speaker like me you might offend the waiter in the local restaurant so don't joke even though he was, unless you know how it will be taken, he stop serving us, Opps! But the food was great and the view spectacular.

April 2015 - We were blown away by Casa Farfalla.
The view from the terrace is simply amazing and you get the sun all afternoon which was fantastic. Bed and linens were very nice and the kitchen was equipped with everything needed.
The apartment is mere steps from the main road, which in Praiano is a luxury in itself. Conveniently located to all the shops and cafes in Praiano, easy access to the Sita bus which is located right across the street.
Gemma [the owner] is truly a real "Gem". She never stopped to amaze us with presents from her garden and wine cellar. She even personally made for us the most delicious Tiramisu that we have tried. We felt like part of the family.
We spent 10 days in Praiano and used Casa Farfalla as our home base. It has been a wonderful experience and we would not hesitate to book it again in the future.
Service and professionalism of Summer In Italy was without a doubt top notch! Thank you to the whole team, always ready and willing to assist. Keep up the great work.
Travel tips
- You will not need a car. Sita bus works fine and there is also a local bus that goes between Positano and Praiano fairly regularly.
- Gavitella Beach is roughly 500 meters from the apartment, even if there are many steps to get down to the beach area. The beach itself was quiet as it was quite early in the tourist season (on April 2015).
- Our favorite restaurant was Vivaro Wine Bar which is only a 2 minute walk away on the main road. 30 euro each and 20 euro for a great bottle of wine, you will not eat better food in Praiano... Although we were full after the 1st course, we ate the 2 subsequent courses as they were too delicious to pass up.

October 2013 - Casa Farfalla is perfectly located. Not a lot of steps to get to other places in Praiano, which is very important. Except for the beach, but there is also a bus for that, or you can go to another town for a beach day.
We lived on the terrace. The house has french doors onto a terrace with the most beautiful view of the sea, and Positano... The terrace has a roll up/down canopy to shelter you from the hot afternoon sun. This terrace was also off the kitchen. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a lot of meals. In 5 weeks, we did eat in a lot. It is a very large room, with a long table. Everything was perfect.
The washing machine was very handy, as we used it several times during our stay. There are clotheslines to dry your cloths, which dry very quickly there.
Ms. Gemma, the owner is wonderful. She speaks very little English, but we had no trouble communicating. I can't say enough wonderful comments about this Casa or Ms. Gemma. It had to be the very best dream vacation we have ever had. Gemma is the warmest, kindest person you will ever meet.
As always, you were wonderful to work with. I was always emailed right away, when I was booking. I had a lot of questions, and you answered them all. I always use Summer in Italy when I am in Italy. Great group of people, and wonderful company. Thank you.
Travel tips
- Casa is close to everything.
- Restaurant La Strada is is just across the road from Casa. Don't miss it!! Upstairs garden is beautiful at night to eat pizza, or a fabulous meal. You will not be disappointed. Gennaro's is wonderful also, I know you will love it too. Two of our very favorites.
- Just a few doors down from Casa, in the morning you can buy fresh seafood. There is also a drug store.
- Stop in on the terrace of Bar/Hotel Le Fioriere for wine or coffee, and free WI/FI. Sit and relax, us the WI/FI, watch the buses and people. You will meet a lot of interesting travelers also.
- There is a wonderful Mom & Pop grocery store that will service all your needs, even delivery (at no charge!!). The proprietor of this store, Agata and her two sons run the store. Her sons are wonderful, personable fellows, speak very good English and bends over backwards to make you feel welcome, really as did everyone in this community.
- The bus runs up and down the coast, with a stop right in front of the gate to Casa, a fun easy way to navigate the area. And believe me, we ran up and down the coast on the buses.

Thanks for all the great information and great descriptions on how to get to Casa Farfalla, where the big super markets are on the way to the apartment, etc. And thanks for answering all our questions very fast by e-mail. Especially Alfano and Luca have been very helpful! We will definitely recommend your service to others and probably come back again ourselves.
Travel tips
- If you want to spend a great time in surroundings close to nature, small restaurants and a quiet village - Casa Farfalla is excellent. If you enjoy beaches/swimming, shopping and nightlife this is not the place to be. It is a romantic village, where you can enjoy an authentic italian atmosphere.

July 2013 - I liked the apartment and the owner very much.
We had a fantastic journey. We liked the small village Praiano. It was so nice to come back there after trips to the bigger places around. Fine communications, easy to get the buses. Nice and clean apartment, very nice owner.

July 2012 - We enjoyed Casa Farfalla to the fullest with its lovely view from the balcony and a spaceous kitchen to do some of our Italian cooking. The bedroom was spacious and with great air conditioning we slept very well. It was so quiet and on such a breath-taking place.
Travel tips
- The best is to buy your own food at the local store. Food is so cheap it was unbelievable and so fresh. We got the best fruit and tomatoes there.
- Gemma and her brother [the owners] are so patient and generous! They gave us pomodorinos (small tomatoes) and basil. Delicious!

April 2012 - Casa Farfalla is a very nice place to stay.
Casa Farfalla is very clean, in the kitchen you will find everything you need for cooking, the bed in the bedroom was comfortable. We stayed with our baby, so a washing machine was very practical.
We really liked Casa Farfalla so we will book a place to stay for our next trip from your website again.

November 2011 - We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Farfalla.
The owner was friendly and accommodating (not an English speaker - but you ARE in Italy). The apartment is part of an old villa. It is spotless, roomy and the view from the private balcony is extraordinary. Bed was comfortable and even though the building is sited on the main Amalfi/Positano road there was no noticeable road noise (the building faces away from the road).
All facilities were fine - bathroom and kitchen. No dishwasher but we did not find that to be a problem: view whilst washing-up was stunning.
Location was great: there's a bus-stop virtually outside the building, and Praiano has most services you could wish in a friendly, compact village. We had a leased car and the off-street parking was an added bonus.
We were greatly impressed by the service from Summer In Italy. Fantastic service which we will certainly use again when we return to Italy, and one we'll recommend to anyone going to Italy
Travel tips
- Be aware that the owner (a lovely lady) has very little English. We got round this by getting SummerinItaly.com to contact the owner for us (a great service they provide).
- Also be aware that access to the parking is unbelievably tight (we scraped the car a couple of times). Local traffic is insane - best to forget cars and take the bus.
- There is no WI FI, but it is available at one of the local cafes.
- The pizza restaurant adjoining the San Gennaro church was great and very inexpensive.

September 2011 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a lovely holiday. The apartment lived up to the requirements that we expected from the web site.
Travel tips
- Think twice before driving on the Amalfi coast as it is not for the timid. However, we did drive and we thoroughly enjoyed the location and the experience.
- The village had everything we required.

September 2011 - We enjoyed Casa Farfalla very much. It's in a lovely quiet location close to a swimming cove. The owner couldn't have been more helpful.
Travel tips
- Casa Farfalla is in Praiano which is one of the quieter villages on the Amalfi Coast. There's a couple of restaurants and one or two bars so if you're looking for somewhere peaceful this is a great spot.

May 2011 - It was a pleasant and basic unit. It had everything you'd need including a washer and ironing board, blow-drier, TV, air conditioning, deck chairs, etc.
Ms. Gemma [the owner] was very nice but could not speak one work of English but we managed just fine.
We loved the view from the deck and the kitchen window - absolutely beautiful.
The shower was a trickle and a bit disappointing but the kitchen was stocked with every cooking utensil you'd need. There was dishwashing soap and also laundry soap available too. The bed was hard but comfortable enough. Like I said, this is a basic villa apartment but has Italian charm and is not cramped. There is no living room but the kitchen is big enough with a large table to serve as a sitting area.
There weren't a lot of steps to get to the unit, only one flight. It was right in the heart of town with easy walking to shops, restaurants, the tabacchi, and cafes. Praiano was a nice quiet town but we do wish we'd stayed in Positano because we had to take the SITA bus (only 10 minutes) when we wanted to get there, and Positano had so much more to offer in terms of being larger.
This is a great basic unit and the price is right. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid home base.

May 2011 - We spent six days in Praiano and three weeks traveling within Italy. I can say in simple words we saved THE BEST for last. Casa Farfalla was warm, lovely had all the convenience and comfort spoiled Americans might need.
What really made the stay so lovely was the warmth of 'Gemma' [the owner]. Had I known how beautiful the coast and how serene the spot we would have planned our travels so we had more time in the jewel of a spot. It was my husband and I and it was perfect for us.
Thank you Summer in Italy for leading us to such a spot and Gemma for opening up a piece of your world.
Travel tips
- The walking area around Casa Farfalla allows you to get all you need.
- Internet is available at the hotel cafe/bar on the other side of the street.
- Do some day trips etc but allow time to explore Praiano the people are kind and welcoming and the steps to the beach are not too be missed.
