Perfect location to explore the beauty of Tuscany
July 2022 - We had an amazing family holiday, the setting was beautiful and it was a perfect location to explore the beauty of Tuscany.
The apartment and grounds were very clean. The main pool is very large so you are able to properly swim rather than just dip.
The fruit and vegetables grown in the grounds that you can help yourselves to are incredible and really add to the experience.
The owners are lovely and very helpful, are there if you need them but don’t interfere with your stay.
We have traveled with Summer In Italy before and would recommend, always very quick to reply to any query.
Travel tips
- We visited Florence, Pisa, Siena and San Gimignano and loved them all, the architecture is absolutely stunning.
- We tended to go out early and visit somewhere before it got too hot and then came back to sit round the pool in the afternoon.

August 2021 - It is the second time I stayed at Casa Bonaventura and I really enjoyed it.
The owners are really nice and easy-going people.
The location... Well, the location is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained.
Being able to pick up fresh vegetables directly from the garden for the meals made feel sorry for the ones I buy at the supermarket. The olive oil they produce is the best I’ve ever tasted.

September 2019 - We enjoyed our stay at Casa Bonaventura A very much. The location was perfect for visiting Florence, San Gimignano, and Siena. The town of Montaione was quaint and conveniently located with restaurants and markets.
Our hosts were helpful and welcomed us with a bottle of their own wine.
We found your website and service very helpful and have already recommended it to others. We would use it again. Thanks. Grazie.
Travel tips
- We loved the restaurant nearby in Mura, Il Caminetto and would highly recommend it.
- We enjoyed the small town of San Miniato.
- We loved San Gimignano. We thought it the loveliest town. We especially enjoyed our lunch at a hotel restaurant Bel Soggiorno. The restaurant has large open picture windows overlooking the valley and the local cuisine was excellent. We also thought the best gelato was at a gelateria in San Gimignano across from the cistern, called Dondoli. Yum!!

August 2018 - Casa Bonaventura A was lovely - the owners were very helpful. The location was fantastic and the apartment was very nicely laid out and was clean and spacious.
The pool area was fantastic for kids and they also loved picking the tomatoes and salad in the kitchen garden!
Summer In Italy were also a fantastic find, very helpful and quick to respond. I felt very comfortable about all the arrangements and it all went like clockwork - so thank you!
Travel tips
- Montaione near by is a lovely little town, with a couple of great restaurants - Pizzeria Il Campo was great with a lovely view.
- We enjoyed driving off to the little villages near by such as Mura, Tonda, Alberi and Sughera.
- In Iano were two fantastic restaurants - the only two there! Both fantastic in different ways!
- Casa Bonaventura is close to lots of beautiful towns - San Gimignano and Volterra are very close and lovely. We also went to Castelfiorentino to get the train to Florence which was simple, relatively cheap and good fun for the kids!
- Montaione has two supermarkets which was very handy - one is a 5 min walk from the Casa Bonaventura.

May 2018 - Casa Bonaventura A was a beautiful house, well maintained and well equiped. We very much appreciated the gift upon arrival (bottle of wine of the estate).
It's too bad the weather did not cooperate and we couldn't enjoy the outdoors, so at some point we felt confined in the house (old houses tend to feel humid and dark in those circumstances).
The one thing I did not like so much was the fact that because we were actually on a 2nd floor, our "patio" space was not directly accessible from the house. We had to get out, go down a flight of stairs and walk across the little path to access our terrace. It was OK because it rained most of the time anyway, but I'm not sure how enjoyable it would have been if we had decided to eat there. It would have been a lot of carrying stuff back and forth and not a lot of privacy.
The water heater turned out to be a challenge towards the end of the week and we had a few cold showers, but that's part of the charm of an old house!
What made us book with you is the amount of details you give about the properties and the clarity of your explanations. I also did appreciate the "warnings" you give about being in a personal house and things we may not appreciate because indeed, a house is not a hotel! Most agents bring out the best and cover the rest and you don't; it's very important because booking on the Internet is a matter of trust, so it's best to be as open and detailed as possible. As a result, our experience was very much what we had envisioned (except for the weather, but that was not part of your assignment!) and we won't hesitate to book with you again.
Travel tips
- You definitely need a car, and be ready to drive quite a bit for there are so many beautiful things to see in the area.
- San Gimignano is a must, and Siena, Firenze and Pisa are about an hour away. Traffic can get a bit heavy around rush hours in these areas so you may want to go to Castelfiorentino, a few km away from the villa, and take a train.
- I would advise to make sure you get an apartment on the ground floor, so you can directly access your terrace and have some privacy there. These adjacent terraces are also partly/better protected from the elements so you get more opportunities to enjoy them even if the weather is not great.
- As far as groceries, there is a little supermarket 500 m away from the house. It doesn't carry a very wide selection of products, but what is there is very good.
- Unfortunately, we didn't get to approach the pool... the weather was really not good enough, but that's a shame for it looked beautiful.

April 2018 - Casa Bonaventura A is situated in a wonderful location with spectacular views across the valley.
The accommodation is comfortable and more than adequate for a family of six. The owners, Simone, Davide and Roberto were extremely helpful especially with the travel disruptions caused by the Icelandic volcano eruption.
There is an abundance of restaurants in the area serving excellent foods.
All the information Summer In Italy supplied was invaluable, especially the phrases which came in very useful. Thank you very much for a very special holiday, one of which we will return to again and also recommend to our friends.
Travel tips
- Although a car is essential to reach this location there is plenty to occupy guests with a large secluded swimming pool and a smaller pool for children.
- There is a tennis court.
- The nearest restaurant is within walking distance.
- To pick-up a train go to Castelfiorentino for connections to Florence.

June 2017 - Casa Bonaventura A was really relaxed, nice and comfortable villa. We enjoyed our visit enormously!
There were quite a few other villas around and some in the same building, but no noises or other disturbances occurred. It was great that the apartment never got hot even though it was really hot outside.
The kitchen was adequate with enough utensils, living room area was comfortable and the little TV had a surprisingly good quality screen. The bedrooms were spacey and the bathrooms were really nice.
The owner of the place was very friendly and the gift of wine was much appreciated.
We spent most of the time by the pool, which was very tidy and well kept. Kids loved the small pool.
Travel tips
- The drive from San Gimignano to Volterra was amazingly beautiful - do take this route while in Tuscany! We had a navigator AND a good map of the area, and both were needed when negotiating the Tuscan winding roads.
- The supermarket nearby (PAM) had really good butcher's and veggie selection, at very reasonable prices.

September 2016 - This apartment was awesome!! It was so much more than we could have expected. And to add to the beauty and size of the apartment, to our delight, all the windows had screens on them so we could open all the windows and let the fresh air in and keep the bugs out.
The view from the apartment was breathtaking, the apartment was so roomy. There were 3 of us in our party so each of us had a bedroom. There were two spacious bathrooms... and everything worked great. We just can't say enough great things about this apartment.
And the location was fantastic... close to a small town called Castelfiorentino where we took the train to Florence and Pisa and didn't have to worry about driving and parking there.
The owner and his brother were both very nice and answered any questions we had.
Finding the Summer in Italy site was the most wonderful surprise to me. The staff has always been wonderful, quick to respond to questions, helpful with outside requests such as private drivers, etc. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

All the service received from Summer In Italy was good and very fast.

- Even though the website says that car is essential, we managed just fine with out one. The nearest grocery store is only about 200 meters walk and even the village Montaione is within walking distance. And we stayed there with 4 small kids.
- The pool area is really nice and a separate pool for children saves lots of parents' nerves.
