Just loved the house
October 2024 - We just loved the house - it had everything we needed but above all was the fabulous view over the Bay of Naples. It was also useful to be able to see the beach from the house to check how busy it was! The terrace was huge so much so that we thought it was shared with a next door property! The property is private and not overlooked. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of storage space in the wardrobes. The main shower worked well. We loved all the large patio doors which opened on to the terrace and made the house feel very bright.
Francesca, the manager, was very welcoming - her English is excellent and she answered lots of our questions.
We found the property on your site and liked your website. Communication all the way through was excellent with a personal touch. The description of the layout of the property could have been better.
Travel tips
- Our main day trips were to Herculaneum (Ercolano), Pompeii, and Mount Vesuvius. Unfortunately (September 2024) the Sorrento-Naples line was shocking. Always packed so full that we had to wait for several trains to pass before getting on.
- We traveled from the UK purely by train. We always enjoyed our 10 minute walk uphill to Vico Equense, and even more so our walk back down (!) but it was tricky without a car having to carry shopping.
- Some reviews mentioned steps up into town but they weren't well maintained and not to be recommended. The walk up the road was much more pleasurable! (BTW we are in our 70's, but reasonably active).
- We had a great meal in Il Barrio Osteria.

Highly recommended
October 2022 - The apartment is very spacious with two beautiful bathrooms and comfortable beds. The balcony is huge and from there you have a wonderful, unobstructed view of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.
The kitchen is a bit old, but still offers everything you need. The third bedroom is quite small as can be seen in the advertisement, but the other rooms are all large. The apartment was very clean when we arrived, the welcome was warm and competent, everything was as described.
Vico Equense is a charming little town. It is only a 3-minute walk from the apartment to the closest small beach and 10 minutes to the Circumvesuviana station (which runs every 25 minutes). From there you can reach Sorrento by train in 15 minutes, Pompeii in 30 minutes and Naples in a good hour. Almost all other sights are on the train route or can be reached by bus (definitely recommended in autumn: a trip to Mount Vesuvius). A small supermarket with really everything you need can be reached on foot in 12 minutes. You don't even need a car, even if you could park it in the garage that belongs to the apartment.
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful apartment and would highly recommend it.

Beatiful villa
October 2022 - Beautiful villa, close to the beach. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Summer in Italy is great and professionally run and our overall experience was awesome. Luca was responsive and great to work with. Our host Francesca was always available when we had a question.
Travel tips
- Be aware this beautiful location and view comes with a short yet steep walk into town. We were 3 older women and the walk up the hill into town was tough for us although doable. The villa is also one flight of stairs up from the street, roughly 30, and has a handrail.
- A beautiful beach is just a few meters away!
- Vico Equense is a wonderful town with great restaurants and easy to walk around. There are many quality shops to browse.
- Metro Pizza is well known but their pizza was not the best in town. Try their steak!
- Terramia and Cerase are great restaurants for those special nights.
- Get a cocktail, wine or beer on the piazza at Gran Caffé Zerilli where they provide gratis chips and little sandwiches to enjoy with your drinks.
- Al Buco is a great inexpensive restaurant that delivered to our villa! This was so awesome and convenient on a rainy night. We were craving Pasta Fagioli but it was not on the menu. When I mentioned my disappointment, he made it special for us and it is delicious!
- Grab a ready made delicious sandwich at Gabriella’s and enjoy their delicious gelato or one of the best lemon cakes on the coast.
- Do not miss the Laboratorio Pasticceria for pastries and delicious Italian cookies.
- People in Vico are friendly and many spoke English!

We enjoyed our stay immensely, view was fantastic, terrace was amazing
May 2022 - We enjoyed our stay immensely, view was fantastic, terrace was amazing. The property is brilliant. We felt safe and secure and accommodation was very well equipped, with 2 bathrooms, laundry room and large kitchen with a full size fridge.
We could not have been more comfortable. The detailed information provided on the property was extremely helpful.
Francesca's english was brilliant and her willingness to personally assist at the local police station when our phone was stolen, I believe, was over and above her duties. Thank you Francesca, we will always appreciate your genuine kindness.
We found this amazing property on line and the staff from Summer In Italy in our dealings with them were prompt, courteous and very professional.
Travel tips
- Positioned so close from the garden path at the rear of the property to walk up to Vico Equense village, or by taking the road out the front it's a short 12-15 min walk.
- We travelled by train and found it easy to walk with our luggage via the road on arrival.
- The village is nearby so it is easy to walk for small shopping items and lunch and dinner. We found we didn't need transport until our day of departure.

The terrace, view and sunsets were worth seven stars
June 2018 - We loved Casa Andreina A. The terrace, view and sunsets were worth seven stars. The kitchen was slightly dark and there was occasional scooter noise but these are trivial criticisms. We have rented many properties in Europe and this was one of the best.
Vico Equense is a great small town, much more attractive than Sorrento and ideally placed for public transport to Pompeii, Amalfi, etc. The walk up the steps or the road to the town helped our fitness!
Renato [the caretaker] was very helpful, eg arranging a taxi for our return to Naples airport.
Summer In Italy were great, even arranging for Renato to shop for us so that we had the basics on our arrival in the evening. Recommendations were why we chose Summer In Italy. Can't think of any improvements and would certainly use them for our next Italian trip.
Travel tips
- The American Bar in the main square of Vico Equense is great for pastries and people watching.
- Conad supermarket is close.
- Pizza a Metro is excellent.
- Pompeii and Ravello fabulous, Herculaneum good, Capri crowded so try to walk to Tiberius' villa to escape the masses.

May 2018 - The view from Casa Andreina A is absolutely beautiful. An unbelievable view... Amazing. The terrace is a great place to see and enjoy it any time, especially in the evening when you can see lights and fireworks.
Highly recommend Summer In Italy services. Everything was very smooth, no issues, no problems. Great value for the rates. Thank you!
Travel tips
- Our favorite restaurant was Titos. We had dinner there 3 times.
- We also had pizza at Pizzeria al Metro.
- The train station is right in town. Very close to the top of the hill. You can go to Sorrento, Pompeii, you can also take the red bus to Amalfi Coast and Positano.

Wonderful place to stay
April 2018 - What a wonderful place to stay! We absolutely loved Casa Andreina and had an unforgettable stay. The view from the terrace on the bay of Naples, Mount Vesuvius and the small port is sensational.
We were there in April when there were not many tourists. We had the impression to be alone. Casa Andreina is in a fantastic position to discover the region, down the hill of a nice little town with great transport links (10 minutes to the train station, which has links to all the towns of the coast). Having a garage is a bonus that we didn't expect. Vico Equense is a town to discover too.
The house is perfect, luminous, with glass doors in all the rooms, well decorated.
We were greeted warmly. Renato [the owner] was very helpful and gave us a lot of information to discover Vico Equense.
We had not heard of Summer in Italy before. They offer an exceptional service. We will certainly look out for this company for next holidays.
Travel tips
- Don't forget to visit little shops in Vico Equense.
- Using the train is easy to discover the region if you consider that there is a lot of heavy traffic on the roads along the coast even if you are off season.

Enjoyed our stay
May 2017 - We enjoyed our stay very much.
We deliberately came at the end of May to avoid the great heat of Summer (June, July and August) that we had been warned about and found the weather to be perfect for us...
Travel tips
- Travelling round is easy and cheap if you use the excellent train service. Because of the cheapness of fairs, however, we found it best to avoid "Rush Hours"! as it was usually standing room only at these times.

We really enjoyed our stay!
April 2017 - We really enjoyed our stay in Casa Andreina A. The view was stunning. The property was spacious and very clean and tastefully decorated. We had easy access by foot to the local town which was a real bonus. There was quite a bit of passing traffic up and down to the beach but this did not bother us very much.
The manager of the property was very helpful.
We are pleased with the service provided by Summer In Italy.
Travel tips
- This is a great location for accessing all the sights: Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mount Vesuvius, Naples.
- You can walk into the local town in 10 min which was great for picking up moning pastries and allows you to enjoy a drink in the local restaurants in the evening.
- We would return to this property again.

Very good
October 2016 - Casa Andreina A had everything we wanted - 2 bathrooms, a dishwasher, a huge balcony with a wonderful view of Mount Vesuvius. Our only criticism would be that it rained very heavily on 4 days while we were there and the house did feel a bit damp. If it had been sunny and we could have left the patio doors open and sat on the balcony more often, I don't think it would have been a problem.
Mr Renato, the caretaker, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. He took us for pizza on arrival and to the bus on departure and answered any questions we had.
Service from Summer In Italy was very good and it was easy to pay for the accommodation by credit card.
Travel tips
- Use the railway to get around. It is cheap and close to the main attractions like Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento and Naples.

The best place for us
September 2016 - I'm very picky when I book a holiday, but I found the best place for us - Casa Andreina A was superb. The best things about it were:
a) The spectacular westwards view of the beach bay and Mount Vesuvius during the day, the sunset, and magical light show of Naples at night, all made even better by this long open terrace. The pictures shown don't seem to do it justice. I don't think you can get this type of view even from Sorrento.
b) The closeness of a quiet private beach - which Renato (the caretaker of the house) can get low rates for.
c) The space inside the house, and well laid out.
d) The welcome, helpfulness and friendliness of Renato - a true happy Italian.
e) Very easy train links to Sorrento, Naples, Pompeii etc - you really don't need a car.
Some previous comments mentioned about some traffic noise. In context: outside is a winding road below house level where there is the occasional scooter, car or small bus going down to the beach. But it really is quite minor and becomes non-existent after 7pm ish. There is no way it affected our stay at all. The majority of the time it was peaceful - a bit like country road traffic that's all.
We are going back there another year - no question.
Renato [the caretaker] was there whenever needed, and always with a smile and a chat. He seemed to know everyone. Renato: I must complement you on the house and help. As I said to you - we would love to come back another year. :)
Travel tips
- Vico Equense is smaller, more traditional and intimate than Sorrento. I felt it was not dominated by non-Italian tourists. In fact I didn't hear anyone from the UK. It felt truly Italian.
- To get to Vico Equense go by coach from Naples airport. Try AUTOLINEE CURRERI for 10 euro per person. Everyone else goes straight to Sorrento on this coach, but they really missed out here!
- Don't go by a big car to the house as the sloping road is winding and the garage is a bit small for a family. I was to hire a car and was advised to hire a small Punto to fit into the garage. But I was right to decide not to hire one as we really didn't need nor want it.
- Instead take the scenic walk up the hill to the town and its an easy train ride to Naples, Sorrento, Pompeii etc. Alternatively Renato can hire a scooter for you.
- Expect to walk up/down slopes in Vico Equense, it's just the nature of the landscape.
- Many good restaurants in Vico Equense.
- At least 2 supermarkets (one mainly underground slightly uphill from the town roundabout).
- The train can be busy with tourists and be sure you know which train to get on - some trains don't stop at all stations.
- We stayed for 11 days touring around and beaching but still didn't get time for the Amalfi Coast.
- Plan well given the temperature in summer is 30+ degrees, and always take water when touring around Pompeii etc.
- Take one or two plugin mosquito repellants. We got the occasional bite in the evening but they disappeared overnight when plugged in.

Enjoyable stay
July 2016 - An enjoyable stay in a well-equipped house, with the few shortcomings of the property more than made up for by the very spacious accommodation and absolutely magnificent terrace.
Being offered a car ride to and from our bus stop (the return being at 6.30 am!) was excellent service and very much appreciated.
We have been renting holiday properties across Europe for 30 years, and the information and standard of service provided by “Summer In Italy” is by far the best we have ever had (either from agencies or private owners). You seem to have thought of everything a visitor might need. Congratulations!
Travel tips
- Bring mosquito repellent if the weather is hot, because the house has no fans or air conditioning, meaning that windows might have to be kept open all night.
- There are a lot of ants around the property (on terrace and to some extent in the kitchen), this is of course no unusual in a hot climate but if you have a phobia of ants, be warned!
- If taking the Curreri bus which runs directly to/from the airport, be aware that it drops off at the railway station in Vico Equense, but picks up 400 meters to the west, opposite the Curreri travel agency.
- You will have good meals almost everywhere in town (Restaurant Titos was our favourite) but avoid at all costs Ristorante Cerasè - very average food, slow service and extremely rude management.
- Try the red-umbrella tables on the spectacular terrace outside Ristorante Cerasè - these are operated by the neighbouring Cherry Lite bar and they will serve you up an excellent low cost pizza and drinks.

Good
July 2016 - We very much enjoyed our stay. Casa Andreina A provided a spacious stay with wonderful views and a fantastically large balcony. There are elements of the property which are a bit 'tired' e. g. the hand basin in the main bathroom is cracked and there were some problems with the electrics/motors to garage doors but in the scheme of things these were 'small beer' and overall we were very pleasantly surprised by the size of the accommodation.
The owner was extremely helpful, arranging to pick us up from the local station and take us back to the bus stop. A big thank you for your help and hospitality.
I found dealing with Summer In Italy extremely straight forward and easy.
Travel tips
- Casa Andreina A is in a wonderful location near to the town centre of Vico Equense. However, whilst near the walk up to the town centre is steep, winding and a cobbled surface. This is not an issue if you are fit/healthy but in my case I had damaged my ankle a week or two prior and found the walk up to the town very difficult and we were also visited by elderly parents who found the same. So we found that for us a hire car was necessary, which was not a problem as there is a garage underneath the property.

Vico Equense should be promoted more as the perfect holiday location with much to recommend it.

May 2015 - Casa Andreina A was a fabulous apartment for our family and we absolutely loved the terrace and the view - unbeatable. The accommodation was perfect for us and a great size, lots of space indoors and outside.
Renato [the caretaker] meeting us and explaining things about the apartment was much nicer than just turning up at a place with keys. He was very friendly and made sure we knew that we could contact him at any time if we needed anything. He is a lovely man and extremely helpful.
I found your site quite by accident and decided to book with you as you seemed to be knowledgeable about the area. I am so glad we did as the service we have had from you has been fantastic. We had a super holiday and when we return to Italy we will definitely come back to you to find a property. Very, very impressed with your service, communication and friendliness. Thank you!
Travel tips
- Vico Equense is a perfect location to explore Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, Herculaneum and the Amalfi Coast.
- It was great to be in a non touristy town and have good transport links to the places we wanted to see.
- We walked up the hill every day and bought lovely bread and cakes for breakfast from via Roma - Pasticceria Andrea and Gianni to eat on the terrace.
- We had great steaks at Buenos Aires, good pizza at Pizza a Metro and the best ice cream at Gelateria Gabriele.

September 2014 - Casa Andreina A is a lovely and spacious apartment, with a fabulous large outside terrace.
The view is wonderful, and this is the best feature of the apartment. It was mostly peaceful, though there was more traffic on the small road just outside than we expected in the evening (going to and from the marina).
It's a bit of a trek uphill to the town centre on a windy road (cobblestones road pavement, no sidewalk), but the location makes up for that, given the wonderful views of Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples.
The caretaker visited us during the week to check everything was okay and he was so nice that picked up us at the station on arrival.
We've booked with Summer In Italy before, when we stayed on the Amalfi Coast six years ago (in Ravello) - we've always been very happy with the apartments and the booking process.
Travel tips
- Casa Andreina A is a good base for visiting Pompeii, Herculaneum and Sorrento from the nearby train station (the Circumvesuviana).
- Take a trip on the local bus (from the train station) to Monte Faito, 1000 meters above sea-level! Wonderful views, and a couple of bar-restaurants where you can get lunch. Sadly, the cable-car from there back down to Castellamare di Stabia has been out of use for a year or two (though it's supposed to be back in service next year). The bus only had locals on it, we were the only tourists!
