Large, nicely finished, comfortable and centrally located on the Amalfi Coast!
October 2021 - Overall we would highly recommend Casa Alba di Praiano. The apartment is large, nicely finished and comfortable. It is decorated with pretty tile work. Each room is different. The master bedroom is comfortable and has French doors that open to a large terrace (shared with the living room) that faces the road below and the sea. There are two bathrooms. One quite large with a bathtub (and shower hose) and a smaller bathroom with shower only. Plenty of towels.
If you are driving there is a complimentary spot (for a small car). That was very convenient as we did have a car. The apartment comes with a washing machine and dishwasher. And much to my surprise - air conditioning! I did not expect that, and if you are travelling during summer, you will really appreciate that.
The apartment is about 60 interior steps up, but that was no issue as we expected that. And surprisingly quiet! We were right above the main road (called Via Roma here but it is the Amalfi Drive). Despite being so close to the road we were pleasantly surprise how quiet it was. BTW - you do not see the road from the apartment. You look out and only see the sea. There is a large terrace going the full width of the apartment, with a small table and chairs and 2 chaise lounges. A great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or aperitivi. If you stand on the terrace and look down, you can see the road below you.
The manager/owner Signora Serena was very responsive to any of our needs. The person who actually met us was Signora Fortunata and she was great. We happen to encounter her a few times during our visit out and about in town, and she was very helpful.
If you want to be centrally located on the Amalfi Coast - Praiano is a great location. And if you wish to have an apartment - this is a great choice.
A few things I would point out to future guests. If you wish to do serious cooking, the kitchen is not adequately supplied for that. Minimal cooking utensils and no cook's quality knives. However, in all fairness to Signora Serena, we did not express this opinion nor ask for anything. Who knows, perhaps if we asked she would have supplied.
Summer In Italy is wonderful. Not only do you have access to many accommodations but you offer a great newsletter and links to many very helpful sights. I highly recommend Summer In Italy.
Travel tips
- Bob Art and Winery across the street is very convenient for picking up food, wine and basic essentials and Stefano was always very helpful and speaks English. The woman working there was also very helpful but does not speak English.
- The ceramic store below is worth a visit and the older woman who works there (the mother of the 2 brothers who apparently own the shop) is a kick in the pants. She is delightful, funny and helpful. On one visit she insisted on offering my coffee and cookies (and a coffee to bring upstairs to my wife!). She does not speak English however.
- There is another little grocery store just a few steps away from Bob's. And if you are up for a walk up a number of stairs (I did not count them but guess about 100 or so) there is another very good larger grocery called Tutto per Tutti.
- The bus stop is not far, but we did find it confusing understanding the SITA bus (takes you all along the coast) versus the local buses and their schedules.

August 2020 - Just excellent!!
Summer In Italy support and information (from the booking to the end of our staying) was perfect! We often travel to Italy and love this country. So next time we will book with you. Well done to your team!! Merci beaucoup!!
Travel tips
- Try the Restaurant Costa Diva just near by, it is delicious and it has an amazing view, very romantic.
- If you decide to go to Amalfi in August, it is better to start early in the morning... Later the risk is to be blocked in traffic jams as the roads are very narrow...

Perfetto! We loved everything about Casa Alba di Praiano.
December 2019 - Perfetto! We loved everything about Casa Alba di Praiano. It is totally bright and cheery. The terrace is spacious, the views amazing.
Parking is available. SITA bus is close.
Highly recommended!
This is our fourth time to work with Summer In Italy, so that should tell readers how much we appreciate the service and the personal attention. It is an absolute pleasure to work with them. Thanks so much!
Travel tips
- We hiked to The Convent of San Domenico which had lots of steps and fantastic views.
- We took the SITA bus to Sorrento one day and to Amalfi another day. The bus ride from Sorrento to Amalfi, if you sit on the right side of the bus, has to be one of the great bus rides in the world!
- Don't miss dinner at Criscito's on Via Marconi, Praiano.
- The iconic Bar del Sole is not to be missed... Sitting out on the terrace with a spritz or a coffee. Magnifico!

We had a most enjoyable stay and were extremely satisfied with the apartment
October 2019 - We had a most enjoyable stay and were extremely satisfied with the apartment. The apartment was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. We appreciated the number of towels available and the Jacuzzi bathtub! The outdoor terrace was a special treat. Also nice was being able to find English speaking stations on the TV.
The owners explained everything about the apartment well and were responsive when we couldn't figure out how to operate the washing machine. They also relayed messages to us from our driver.
Very positive experience with Summer In Italy.
Travel tips
- We took the boat tour to Capri leaving out of Positano (Blue Star Positano Boat Tours and Rentals picked us up in Praiano).
- Bus stops close by allowed us to travel to Positano and Amalfi. It is difficult to bring a car here.
- A favorite restaurant was KASAI.
- Stock up on groceries beforehand if you plan to eat in the apartment. One supermarket is almost a mile away and the other lots of steps upward.
- Our neighbor, Anna, at LizArt Ceramics, was extremely gracious and friendly.

Enjoyed Casa Alba di Praiano immensely
September 2019 - We enjoyed Casa Alba di Praiano immensely. The web site showed exactly how it was.
Great for two couples just had to share a shower. View from terrace amazing. Slightly noisy if out on terrace but not when inside with doors closed.
Across the street was minimarket with food supplies/wine. Within walking distance restaurants and Marina di Praia Beach from which to do excursions.
Highly recommend.
Travel tips
- 4 flights of stairs so be sure strong person to help carry luggage. :)
- Enjoyed minimarket across the street and several restaurants nearby.
- Took excursion to Capri from Marina di Praia Beach nearby, private type boat with 8 to 12 people, awesome and only 80 euro/person.

July 2019 - We stayed as a family of 4, with 2 teenagers, and couldn’t have had a better stay. After 4 days sightseeing in Rome, it was the perfect relaxation.
Location in quiet Praiano is excellent, near enough to Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento for shopping and sightseeing as well as being ideal for tranquil days relaxing by the sea.
The apartment was superb with no complaints. We would definitely return and recommend to anyone.

Wow! We all loved our stay
June 2019 - Wow! We all loved our stay at Casa Alba di Praiano.
Gorgeous views; plenty of space for my husband and I and two teenagers; beautiful, clean and comfortable apartment with Italian tile everywhere; AC and Wi-Fi that worked well; and a much appreciated washing machine.
We especially loved playing cards on the terrace with a nice cold beverage, while taking in the stunning scenery.
Summer In Italy made it so easy! Detailed explanations of the property, its location, how things may be different in Italy, etc were very helpful and allowed us to settle in stress free. We also appreciated the frequent and very pleasant communications. We will certainly use Summer In Italy again and recommend highly.
Travel tips
- The folks at LizArt Ceramics are sooo nice!
- The little tabacchi shop right across the street provide bus tickets and a small selection of food and drinks.
- It is easy to catch the bus to other towns along the coast. There is also a smaller local bus which can take you around Praiano.
- The Hotel Torre Saracena across the street has a great breakfast buffet.
- The Marina di Praia across the street and down, down, down the cliffside has a nice swimming beach with water taxis, boats to Capri, restaurants, and more gorgeous views.
- Just to the right of the property there are many steps that lead up, up, up to a grocery store and restaurants.

Couldn't have been better - we'll be booking again
April 2019 - Fabulous, very clean apartment with wonderful sea view.
The apartment is on the main coast road but once inside the apartment with the doors and windows shut you couldn't hear the traffic, this did mean no steps up other than those up to the apartment - a bonus on the Amalfi Coast!
Couldn't have been better - we'll be booking again.
The property manager came within 5 minutes of us phoning her, showed us everything we needed in the apartment and about the local shops, buses etc.
Excellent service from Summer In Italy, really good information sent and the directions to the apartment were spot on.
Travel tips
- Both the local shops over the road from the apartment were owned by very helpful families who explained how the buses worked and which tickets to buy.
- Restaurant Costa Diva right over the road serves excellent food and is run by a very friendly family.
- We didn't have a bad meal or wine whilst in Italy.

April 2019 - Lovely views over the sea and towards Conca dei Marini. The apartment itself was spotless, well-equipped and comfortable.
Very convenient location with a little shop (useful groceries and bus tickets) and bus stop nearby. Short walk into the centre of Praiano and the Church of San Gennaro (with its lovely views of Positano).
Travel tips
- You can actually access the Sentiero degli Dei from Casa Alba di Praiano (it does involve a few steep steps up, but that's the case for everywhere on the Amalfi Coast), as well as several other walks (Grotta di Santa Barbara for example).
- There's a fab restaurant right across (Restaurant Costa Diva) in case you wish to eat out.
- If you are driving, try to make sure you have a small-ish car, as the car parking spot is quite small (we managed to squeeze a Fiat Tipo into it, but its nose stuck out into the road a little).

Casa Alba di Praiano is in a great spot
March 2019 - We've stayed in Praiano many times. Casa Alba di Praiano is in a great spot.
It was clean, well maintained and had everything small group would want. Great view. I counted 60 interior steps from the parking space to the apartment. For the Amalfi Coast, this is rare to have this few steps... and for all of them to be interior. The parking space is small; we rented a Fiat 500 and had about 8” or so to spare. It was easy to get in and out.
The hostess could not have been nicer.
We've rented from you several times - you’re fabulous!

I will definitely stay here again
October 2018 - I love Italy. I love everything about Italy. The apartment had everything I needed, was spacious, very pretty, and very Amalfi Coast. I will definitely stay here again.
As always, Summer In Italy continues to provide the quality, professional service I've used over the years. Honestly, I can't imagine anything else they could do to make travel easier. Kudos!
Travel tips
- Be prepared for the approximately 60 steps in the building to get to the apartment, which is on the top floor. But, no surprise, there are steps and inclines everywhere along the coast. Just a heads-up.
- You will never find a bad meal in Italy (my opinion), and there are several good restaurants in Praiano: Donna Clelia Bar Mare at Marina di Praia Beach, Open Gate Hotel Restaurant, and a new find Restaurant Kasai farther up the hill in Praiano. Their ravioli and house red wine are more than worth the climb (and you'll burn those calories in no time!).

Such a pleasant stay at Casa Alba di Praiano!
September 2018 - Such a pleasant stay at Casa Alba di Praiano! The apartment was well equipped and very comfortable... And what a view! The apartment was on the main road... Thank you!!
The location was perfect as it was an easy bus ride to Positano, Amalfi and Sorrento and the bus stop was just outside our door right next to 2 stores that sold wine and daily stock items like fresh cheese and milk. What could possibly be better??
We were able to enjoy the vistas and not have to walk up lots of stairs and as a matter of fact, we were entertained by the traffic on the road below. Watching the motorcycles/scooters maneuver their way around the buses and cars was a plus!!
The owner was sweet and attentive since we asked for a kettle which appeared outside the door the very next morning. I would definitely stay there again... My only request would be to maybe have a larger coffee maker!!
Summer In Italy is a must when booking in Italy. The staff were on the ball and answered any questions we had immediately. In the future I would only use Summer in Italy!!
Travel tips
- Walk up the stairs and you will find a great grocery store that stalks fresh everything including fruit and deli meat.
- There is a really good restaurant located above the store on a terrace overlooking the sea.
- The bus stop is located right outside the door and you can ask the owner to arrange a taxi/driver.
- A must see from Amalfi is Ravello... Worth the day trip!!

Everything about Casa Alba di Praiano was awesome
September 2018 - Everything about Casa Alba di Praiano was awesome. The view was just perfect. There was a shop two doors down which had everything you needed even bus tickets to other parts of Amalfi Coast.

Summer In Italy were fantastic there was nothing more you could of done. Thank you so much Summer In Italy we would highly recommend anyone to rent with you. Awesome team!

October 2015 - Overall a fantastic home and location was excellent.
First off, Summer in Italy were excellent in helping us chose a location. They were extremely attentive during the booking process and keeping us informed prior to arrival.
Unfortunately we were late upon arrival as we got lost and we missed our meeting time with Pina, the property manager. However a nice neighbor phoned her as our phone wasn't working and within minutes Pina showed up and brought us up to the apartment. My wife and I were tired and stressed from driving the coast and miserable but as soon as the door opened walked in the apartment and walked on the balcony our mood changed quickly. What a view. I would spend my mornings on the balcony watching the locals and traffic jams caused by the buses. Although the apartment was on the main road the noise of the traffic was minimal when we closed the patio doors. Anyways we would rent this location again without hesitation.
Everything was great.
Travel tips
- Don't drive. They had a parking spot for a small car but we didn't move it for the 7 nights. The driving is stressful.

September 2014 - We loved Casa Alba di Praiano, what a view of the sea!
The apartment was extremely well equipped for cooking, every item one could need provided. The tiles are beautiful and the apartment was very clean when we arrived. It was so good to have only 60 steps to climb at the end of the day. We were warned about the nearby road noise and unfortunately it was a bit loud for us and took away the peace of the property. For those that live in big cities, this noise might not be as bothersome but we live in the country so it was quite annoying to us at times. I would recommend Casa Alba di Praiano if that would not be an issue for you.
This is a great property. We loved the views and the size and layout of the apartment. Photos on the website really represent the property well.

August 2014 - We thoroughly enjoyed Casa Alba di Praiano for 8 nights.
It was clean, roomy, and a good size for a family of four. The kitchen was well equipped and the market where we bought groceries was a fairly short distance away. My daughter enjoyed reading in the sunny room adjoining their bedroom.

The superb location meant we were able to travel to all popular destinations along the Amalfi Coast (Amalfi, Positano, Capri, Sorrento), then retreat to Praiano where it was more tranquil and there were fewer tourists.
We spent a month travelling throughout Italy and this was by far the best accommodation we stayed in. It felt like 'home' - everything you can possibly need is provided in the apartment.

Travel tips
- Used a pre-organised car transfer from airport. Costs about €100 but saved a lot of hassles as not an easy place to get to with luggage if visiting for first time.

- If using Sita buses as transport to other towns, then go early to ensure you will get on.
- Walk of the Gods can be easily achieved by catching 2 buses to Bomerano as starting point. Travel tips
- One little thing that may be of help for the future is that although it is stated that we didn't really need a car we didn't completely understand and hired a very expensive car from the airport which we used twice as driving there is not for the faint hearted. July 2013 - Our family of four, including two teens spent a week at Casa Alba di Praiano in mid-July. We loved it! It was clean, bright and the view was spectacular. December 2012 - Casa Alba di Praiano was centrally located with a fantastic view of the water.
It was easy to talk up the hill to the lovely church, a food store and just to wander around the village. It was very convenient to have a parking space.
The owner, who also ran the nearby restaurant, went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. Knowing we were tired the first day we arrived, she picked us up and took us to her restaurant for dinner! We were there over the Christmas holiday so she had decorated the house nicely and even brought us a creche.
The apartment had just been renovated so it was beautiful. The bathroom had a whirlpool which was super!

August 2009 - Location is excellent, provided you are not looking for a place surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops, boutiques...
Access to the sea is very near on foot, as well as to the bus stop.
The house is in good condition.
Travel tips
- There is a good restaurant (also in price!) just below Casa Alba di Praiano (a few steps downwards).
- The bus stop is 150 m away.
- A steep hillside path (close to the bus stop) leaves you to the wonderful Amalfitan sea.

July 2009 - This was the first time I had booked a vacation over the internet and I was a little worried that the photo and description might have been oversold. I was a pleasure to find that the villa was actually much better than expected/described and that all the downsides were actually in the property description. We had a fantastic holiday.
Thanks - see you next time we decide to take a holiday in Italy.

October 2007 - We had a great time at Casa Alba di Praiano. We had just came off a 2-week tour of Italy and this place gave us a time to kick back and relax.
The people in the pottery store downstairs gave us so much local information, very helpful.
Josephine the owner of Casa Alba di Praiano went well above what she had to do. The first night there it was raining so hard we lost electric. She brought us a great meal, she also owns a restaurant, so we didn't have to go out.
Travel tips
- Make use of the buses, get a schedule, it's better than driving.

August 2006 - We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Alba di Praiano.
The place was lovely and clean and just right for the 5 of us.
The owner was very pleasant and quite concerned that everything was okay.
We had a rental car so having a parking spot was a must.
We would definitely book with Summer in Italy again. They were very helpful when we were planning our trip and answered all of our questions promptly. The villa was just what we expected.

June 2006 - My family and I spent a wonderful week in Casa Alba di Praiano. We enjoyed the area and found it to be exactly the holiday we imagined.
Far enough away from the most tourist traps but in easy access to all other places of interest in the area.
The Marina di Praia was so wonderful. Swimming and enjoying the wonderful restaurants and foods of the region... be prepared to walk up many steps. You need to be prepared to take on a bit of exercise as everything is built on the edge of the cliff.
Be warned though, do not attempt to drive, the roads are small, windy and busy. Can get a little noisy with bus and car horns tooting all throughout the day, but that's just part of the fun.
Your service was impeccable!

March 2006 - We felt very comfortable, safe and welcomed at Casa Alba di Praiano.
We found the owner to be very hospitable and went to her restaurant one evening for a superb fish dinner.
The parking was a bit of a problem the first night. It would have been handy to have had a little more tourist info in the apartment.
Overall it was a great experience.
Your organization was definitely the best we had in our 6 week stay in Italy. Thanks.

October 2005 - The apartment was clean and comfortable with an amazing view of the ocean.
The owner was friendly and the town was quiet and not packed with tourists.
It was a nice alternative to Positano and Amalfi.

August 2005 - We spent our honeymoon at Casa Alba di Praiano in August and had a wonderful two weeks. The owner was extremely welcoming and the appartment was very spacious, clean and well-equipped. The views from the terrace and bedroom are beautiful, so you can watch the boats go by and the sun go down over some antipasti and Italian wine. The road runs below the appartment so there is some noise but this does not distract from the pleasure of our stay.
We loved staying in Praiano, much smaller and less touristy than Positano or Amalfi but within easy reach of both. Praiano has a range of restaurants (including the owner's parents' where we ate twice and had a lovely meal including hoemmade limoncello) and some bars with sea views, and although the beach is small and stoney it is extremely picturesque and there are lots of sun-loungers.
We hired a car - which were were glad of - but there are plenty of buses along the coastal road if you prefer. There is a shop across the road which is very convenient.
The website staff were extremely helpful and efficient and we were provided with contact numbers in case of problems, not that we had any.
We would thoroughly recommend Summerinitaly and Casa Alba di Praiano for your holiday.

July 2005 - We loved the view from the veranda. The apartment itself was clean, roomy and more than adequate for us 4.
Despite being near the road the location was quiet and relaxing.
I found you by accident on the web and what luck that was. Probably the best website I have visited and a service to match. Thank you.
Keep on doing the EXCELLENT work you are doing.

July 2005 - Overall we enjoyed our stay at Casa Alba di Praiano.
There is a family-friendly beach within a 5-7 minutes walk. Having parking is essential if you have a car, although car is not absolutely necessary if you don't have small children. Road noise, especially the horn of buses, in the early morning can be a problem, but we got used to it.
Owner is very friendly, although she speaks very little English.

May 2005 - Casa Alba di Praiano was great!!
Staying in Praiano gets you away from the tourist crowds of Positano and Amalfi letting you enjoy a true Italian experience. Yet those two places and all the other interesting locations in the area are easily reached. I will say you have to either be comfortable with Italian driving at its most demanding or rely on local public transportation (which is adequate) but not necessarily convenient as to timing. We visited Capri via Sorrento ferry, Naples, Vesuvius and Pompeii, Amalfi, Positano, as well as Minori and Ravello.
The thing that really sets Casa Alba di Praiano apart - for me - was Anna the owner and her wonderfull family. We were treated royally all over the town of Praiano by just mentioning her name. Her sons provided us with some great advice on visiting local locations - especially the Roman Villa in Minori with its wonderfull mosaics and to be very cautious when ascending the road to Ravello. The most memorable though was her nephew, Areno, and his marvellous ristorante, Il Pirata.
We were in Italy for a month and the meal he made for us on our last night - we didn't use a menu - was the best!!!
Maybe it helps that I speak a little Italian - but at Casa Alba di Praiano if you speak in friendship - it won't matter what language you use.

April 2005 - Overall, my wife and I considered Casa Alba di Praiano as a very good choice and was much, much better than we were anticipating. We have rented many apartments throughout Europe and Casa Alba di Praiano will rank among the best of them.
One thing not included in your assessment above - and something which contributerd enormously to the enjoyment of our stay - was the reception we received from Signora Giuseppina. She was most helpful, friendly and welcoming and it was a most refreshing change to meet somebody like her when you arrive after along journey. It really gets your holiday off to a good start.
Don't change!! The support you provided us both before and during our holiday was excellent; especially when we were unable to contact the owner by phone. Although it was a Saturday evening, you dealt with our phone call speedily, efficiently and in a most friendly way.
I would have no hesitation in recommending you to anybody who is looking for a holiday in that part of Italy.
“Thank you so much! Property owners are generally readily available, but should there ever be any difficulty, we are always there to back them up!„

January 2005 - Casa Alba di Praiano is absolutely the most wonderful place we've ever stayed... it felt like we really were able to "live" in Italy.
We miss it so much already!
You did an excellent job on advising us, I felt like I always had a link to you in case I had a burning question. I couldn't think of anything for you to improve upon and I have given your name to many people as a recommendation!

January 2005 - Kristi and I loved our week at Casa Alba di Praiano. The house, the location, and the people were all wonderful.
It was clean and very pleasant. We only couldn't figure out how to work the cable tv, but that wasn't a problem.
The owner was delightful, and very helpful to us when we needed anything.
We would definitely do it again.

December 2004 - Casa Alba di Praiano was lovely, the family who own it live in the apartment below and were a pleasure to deal with (although they speak very little English, and I'm ashamed to say that we speak very little Italian). They own the restaurant on the beach where we ate on three separate occasions.
Praiano is a great place to be based. Much smaller and less touristy than Amalfi or Positano. Positano is walkable (much better on the mule tracks high up on the cliffs than on the road). There is a small grocery shop at the top of the steps (sort of) adjacent to the property which is the only shop we visited all holiday.
Brace yourself for the driving in Italy, especially on the coast road either to Salerno or Sorrento. The rules are there are no rules!
We would not hesitate to go back to Casa Alba di Praiano.
Thank you for bringing Casa Alba di Praiano to our attention. The original attraction for us was the price, and we consider it really good value for money.
Also cannot fault the service from Summer in Italy, we will recommend both Summer in Italy and Casa Alba di Praiano to our friends.
Unfortunately, Casa Alba di Praiano can not be booked at this time.
We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
