I loved Casa Agostino A!
October 2018 - I loved Casa Agostino A! The best thing about it was the view - we could see the harbour, sea, coastline and the inimitable Mount Vesuvius straight through our bed/sitting room windows. We were perfectly placed for all the amenities. There was a newly installed lift. Although clean and tidy, I did feel that the kitchen could have been a little better equipped: there were only three sockets to serve four electrical appliances, and the cooker had only two rings. The beds were very comfortable.
As a busy port, it could be quite noisy at night, but it was also exciting to see and hear all the ferries and cruise ships coming and going, and people out enjoying the evening at the local bars and restaurants. We felt very much part of the life there.
Extremely helpful and friendly staff on hand for any of our questions and queries.
As a non-Italian speaker, I found it reassuring to communicate in English with Luca and Anita, who are either very familiar with the local area, or went out of their way to give me the information I needed before I set off for Italy. Thank you!
Travel tips
- Travel as much as you can by ferry, not just because it's great fun and right on your doorstep, but because buses can take a long time to get around and can be cramped.
- Choose to spend your finest, clear sky day at the top of Mount Vesuvius - the view is spectacular!

November 2012 - We enjoyed Casa Agostino very much. It would not suit elderly or disabled people, nor parents of babies using a buggy (stroller) because of the 60+ stairs, but this was not a problem for us.
Not all the rings on the cooker were functional. It took a long time to boil a kettle! An electric kettle would be a good addition, and would probably use less electricity than the old-fashioned rings. Unexpectedly we had to use the heaters (because of extreme rain we got very wet and had to dry our clothes and shoes). The heaters were mounted on the ceilings, and were not easy to use. There were no instructions, and we had to call the landlady. She was very helpful, but some written instructions would have been helpful
Very helpful staff. Keep up the good work!
Travel tips
- Bus Linea B goes from outside the building all the way to the railway/bus station and leaves every 15 or 20 minutes. The journey goes via the town centre and the whole journey to the station takes only about 12 minutes. This is useful when planning your homeward journey (or your trip to Pompeii).
- Buy bus tickets in advance at the tobacconist a few doors away from the apartment. Children do not have to pay.

September 2012 - Casa Agostino A is a fantastic apartment with a great location.
Very easy to get to from train station with a taxi (expect to pay around €20). Barbara met us upon arrival and was very helpful and accommodating during our stay. Easy access to lift up to Sorrento centre (€1 each way) and boats to Capri, Positano and Amalfi Coast across the road at port. Great restaurant downstairs... we ate there every night!
Travel tips
- Reviews about the stairs are right... there are about 60 and they are steep, but worth it for this apartment.
- We travelled in September and still swam, so pack light!
- Supermarket not so close so find a Deli for eggs and milk etc. or take a few basics.

June 2012 - We loved the fact that we walked off the ferry and in a few steps arrived at our villa. Location was incredible - view, restaurant options, it was great. Everything was in walking distance.
While there could be some updating to the unit, it suited our needs perfectly (great to have a washer for cloths in the unit).
We will definitely be back and will recommend it to anyone interested in visiting Sorrento.
Summer In Italy made the villa selection process very easy. Your support was great. I just want to say "Thanks" for making our stay enjoyable! We will be back.
Travel tips
- Entrance is not clearly marked but as you leave the ferry dock, the hallway is behind the Hertz rental booth, last double doors. The entrance could be cleaned up but if you walk through the hall and up 61 stairs you'll be at your entry to the villa.

August 2011 - We loved the apartment and the location. The views out of the windows are amazing with brilliant sunsets. The location was great as you feel you are in the heart of the action and access to ferries are at the front door with restaurants and a few shops.
If you find stairs hard this apartment may not be for you as it is on the fifth floor but otherwise perfect.
You can catch a bus to town 1 euro and to the train station where buses 2 euro and easy to use public transport.
Summer In Italy is a good and professional company which was very easy to deal with. We found you on the internet but will recommend you to friends and other travelers.

April 2011 - Lovely apartment in Sorrento... It is located in the port, so there are about 300 steps to get up to the town [bus service is available], but a great location for those taking the ferry or going to the beach. Friendly, helpful staff and spacious bedrooms.
Summer In Italy runs a great website!... very helpful!

July 2010 - Fantastic location and views, noisy late at night with motorbikes and early morning with garbage collections. Overall the location won out and I would definitely stay there again but the bathroom needs improving.
Summer In Italy has great communication and advice for travellers in Italy.
Travel tips
- Great to take day trip ferry to Isle of Capri, Positano and Amalfi.
- Fantastic Seafood Restaurant La Vela Bianca next door to the left.
- Great trip to Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius by train.

April 2010 - A great location - in the hustle and bustle of the busy ferry marina. Superb views, always something going on.
The apartment was comfortable, all the kitchen equipment etc that we wanted was there.
Owner was very helpful - particularly when we got caught up in the volcanic ash flight hold-ups.
Very much appreciated all the emails beforehand and the info received from Summer In Italy. You would have been our next port of call had we been stuck for accommodation while we waited for flights. We will use you again should we return to Italy (and we hope to do so).

September 2009 - Beautiful place! We will stay there again, next time we go to Sorrento.
When we stayed the washing machine didn't work as it should, but I am sure that the owner has fixed it by now.
The building were the apartment is located need desperately a renovation, and yes, the steps to the apartment are really a challenge but the apartment is really cosy and the view from the all the windows, was even better then showed in the picture!!
In order to reach the apartment, and the nearest supermarket, you have to be aware of going up and down several steps, but if you are ok with it, so do we warmly recommend this apartment. The position is perfect if you plan, to use a boat transport to Amalfi, Naples, Capri etc.
Summer In Ital was professional and nice.

June 2009 - We enjoyed being right at the harbor and it was easy to get up to the main square of town.
The villa was a bit of a hike upstairs but we enjoyed it.
We booked with you based on the recommendation of a friend and we have subsequently recommended you to others. Your properties are as advertised, very accurately portrayed on your website. You were very helpful We also liked the driver you recommended. We will be back to Italy and would use you again!

August 2008 - Casa Agostino A was wonderful. My girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave.
The apartment was in a great location, just across the square from the ferry quay, and the view was spectacular.
We walked in to the apartment our first day, and the apartment was even better than the pictures on the website, which is rare.
Roberta, the apartment manager, was very accessible and helpful. And the staff at Summer In Italy was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, from selecting the apartment, to being flexible with our arrival dates and times.
I strongly recommend this apartment -- and look forward to when I can stay again!
I look forward to working with Summer In Italy again, and will definitely be recommending this site to friends and family.

April 2008 - We went to Italy on our honeymoon and stayed several different places in different cities. Casa Agostino A in Sorrento was our favorite by far.
Signora Roberta [the owner] picked us up from the train station and gave a tour of the town square of Sorrento before taking us to the apartment. The apartment is in walking distance of the station but since we were unfamiliar with Sorrento, Signora Roberta's hospitality was greatly appreciated.
We loved Casa Agostino. Casa Agostino is spacious yet comfy with spectacular views. The views from the windows were the best in Sorrento in my opinion. On the nights that we did not dine out, we cooked in the fully equipped kitchen.
I want to go back and stay there again as soon as possible.
I was very happy with Summer in Italy. I would definitely book with your company again. Thank-you for being so organized and easy to deal with.
Travel tips
- The main square Piazza Tasso is just a five minute walk from the apartment but bring your walking shoes. The stairs leading up are steep [bus service is available for those who do not wish to walk uphill].
- There are many places to take day trips nearby, including the beautiful island of Capri. You catch the boat right out the front door. You can also take the bus to Positano or the train to Pompeii.

March 2008 - We really enjoyed the stay at Casa Agostino. The owner was very nice and helpful.
It was in an excellent location, although often noisy at night and in the morning.
There were a lot of steps to get to the apartment, but we knew that in advance and it was good exercise.

January 2008 - We thoroughly enjoyed the apartment and we would stay there again. It was very quiet, the view from the two bedrooms and the kitchenette was wonderful, there was plenty of hot water and the reverse cycle air conditioner worked very effectively as a heater.
As we did not have young children or disabled people in our party the 60 steps from the ground floor to the apartment were not a problem.
The owner and the agent "Summer In Italy" were very helpful – they arranged an early check in at short notice and on every occasion we telephoned the agent we were promptly connected to a fluent English speaker (Luca).
The only other thing that we would have liked was to have had WiFi or cable Internet access and perhaps a small dining table in the kitchen/dining area.
We found your service was first rate, and we basically chose to book with you because the apartment was attractively presented on the Internet and you were very prompt in responding by email to our questions. On your web page you could say that the apartment had efficient reverse cycle air-conditioning which also acts as heating.
Travel tips
- Be aware that the power will go off quite often, particularly if the reverse cycle air conditioner is being used at the same time as kitchen appliances. This is easily fixed by resetting the circuit breakers outside the front door of the apartment.
- The local government tourist office in Sorrento was very helpful with advice on transport options and opening hours of attractions.
- While the shops on the main street are quite expensive, there are some inexpensive luggage and inlaid wood shops on some of the side streets.
- We found the town to be safe and shop staff were helpful with English being quite widely spoken.
- The supermarket in the main street of Sorrento has a good range of grocery products and is open in the evening.
- An inexpensive but very worthwhile side journey is to take the local bus from Sorrento to Amalfi and return – the views are spectacular. The local train, the Circumvesuviana, is an inexpensive and efficient way to get to Pompeii etc. and the ferry which leaves from just outside the apartment is a pleasant way to get to Naples.

September 2007 - We enjoyed our time and would recommend it to others.
There is a 140 step stair case to the town above but we are heathly and it kept us fit, but for others it might be a problem unless the wanted to buy a bus pass each time.
Views were great and in the eveing the ferry noise from crowds was gone.
Unfortunately, Casa Agostino A can not be booked at this time.
We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
