Situated along Lake Como, near Lecco, Valmadrera is a lively province whose economy is based on the textile industry. Its origins date back to the Roman Age, even if the current built up area was born only after the 12th century.

A number of families rose alternately to power, and each of them left lovely traces in the urban fabric and local history.

Valmadrera’s patron saint is St Antonio Abate, celebrated every year on the 17th of January.
