Torre Pozzillo is a small sandy beach mixed with rock, north of Acireale. It is named for the coastal tower that was once part of a defense system. The water gets deep quickly here, so is good for those who enjoy swimming and snorkeling, or sunning on the rocks and splashing in the water. It isn't recommended for small children. The fishing village of Pozzillo is quaint and offers some bars and restaurants. There are other beaches along the coast going up from the port, on the volcanic rock. Sunning platforms with ladders are built for summer fun, and to make it easier to access the water.
