Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Salento, it offers lengthy expanses of sandy beaches along with some rocky points for interest. The water is turquoise blue and clear, with abundant sunshine year round. There is a nice harbor for some boats and fishermen, so the seafood restaurants here offer the fresh catch of the day. There are stretches that are undeveloped and tranquil, and other sections with shops, restaurants and apartments for those who prefer the conveniences nearby. Watersports available include scuba, boating, wind surfing, and fishing, but there are also spots for beach volleyball and tennis.

The defining landmark is the Torre Pali that gives the beach its name, a partially submerged ruin of a once-important coastal watch tower that is a pretty backdrop for sun bathing. Strong swimmers can head out to the Isola della Fanciulla, a few hundred meters off the shoreline.
