The Orrido Gorge

Along Lake Como and just an hour from the bustle of Milano is a natural wonder that is worthy of an outing. The Orrido di Bellano is a water-hewn gorge that slices through the rock on the Pioverna River. The natural canyon is pretty place where you can enjoy a walk that takes you to pools and caves carved out over centuries of erosion. It is a unique, artistic natural landscape.

The path to the canyon starts in the piazza of Bellano, just three kilometers from Cannobio. Take the staircase next to the church which puts you onto the pathway of steps and footbridges that lead into the gorge. You will enjoy minor waterfalls and lush foliage along the way. At the river there are small pools and cascades tucked down among the walls of the canyon.

The Orrido Gorge is open daily from 10:00 AM til 1:00 PM and from 2:30 PM til 7:00 PM (5:00 PM in winter). Admission cost is €3.
