The fine workmanship of wood inlay has been a long, steady tradition in Sorrento. The museum dedicated to the craft, known officially as the Museo-Bottega della Tarsia Lignea, shows exquisite examples of the delicate work, including furniture, music boxes, instruments, decorative items and more. Many items decorated the villas and homes of the aristocracy of the Kingdom of Naples. There are contemporary works, as well, and the museum hosts courses on this intricate craft.

There is a bistro and bookshop in the museum, as well. You can then stroll around the streets of the historic center to see the current artisans at their painstaking work in their active workshops scattered in the narrow lanes.

The museum is located in Palazzo Pomarici Santomasi.
