Sculpture Garden by Daniel Spoerri
A fanciful sculpture garden will make you smile as you walk among the variety of works in a natural setting. Walk through the iron gates into the place that has been dubbed "the Garden of Eden," mainly because old maps marked this area as "Paradiso" but also for the beauty of the park.
The contemporary sculpture garden was created by Swiss artist Daniel Spoerri who opened it in 1997. His own work has been displayed around the world, and here he has collected many of his own sculptures and those of other international artists. There are 103 installations by 50 artists in differing mediums. The sculptures are tucked among olive groves and chestnuts trees, highlighted by flowers and plants. It covers 16 hectares (39 acres) in southern Tuscany, below Monte Amiata in the area known as the Maremma. Here the hills are covered in woods and studded with stone-built villages and castles.
The gardens have a highly acclaimed restaurant, Non Solo Eat Art, where you can reserve a table to enjoy beautifully presented fare.
