Rosa Salva at Palazzo Franchetti
Stop in for a tasty sweet in a beautiful palace right at the foot of the Accademia Bridge in one of Venice's revered pastry shops. The Palazzo Franchetti is a gorgeous palace that dates to the 1500s, though redone in neo-gothic style in the early 1800s. It is home to many cultural events.
Rosa Salva is in its sixth generation, started by patriarch Andrea Rosa in 1870, who was a man ahead of his time who started a catering-type business preparing and delivering full meals to the opulent villas and palaces of Venice and the Brenta River. His son, Antonio Rosa, known as Salva, took it over and took it to a new level by adding his passion for pastries into the mix. Today, the Rosa Salva "chain" has six locations around Venice and they still provide high-level catering services for special events and weddings.
But for the average traveler, this location in the Palazzo Franchetti offers the chance to indulge in some decadent treats in a gorgeous setting!
