In the heart of Polignano a Mare overlooking the famous and picturesque vantage point of the cove and town perched above it on the rocks. This restaurant offers nice views, good service, and excellent seafood. The catch of the day is displayed at the cutting station inside the door, and they'll explain how they will prepare each fish to bring out its best natural flavors. The abundant and varied antipasto is recommended, as it gives you several samples of the chef's handiwork (and is almost a meal in itself!). The risotto with scampi and lemon zest is deservedly famous, but other pastas are well-prepared, too. The main course fish plates are excellent (and worth skipping the pasta for!) with some types baked in parchment, others simmered in wine and cherry tomatoes, and some roasted whole. There are always some super-fresh fish that are best simply grilled, too. Good wine selection and knowledgeable waiters will help you choose. A good meal and good dining experience.
