The Museo Vulcanologico dell'Etna is a unique spot that highlights Sicily's voluptuous volcano. The museum was created by the province and is located in the historic house of Mario Gemmellaro, a celebrated volcanologist who demonstrated that Etna is actually comprised of a series of volcanoes.

Located at the base of the mountain in the town of Nicolosi, the museum is dedicated to the dominating presence of Europe's highest and most active volcano, and the mysteries, myths and science that go with it. Displays of photos and videos of eruptions along with geological artifacts, rocks, crystals and volcanic "bombs" of molten rock, and more.

The Museum of Volcanology of Mt. Etna is open daily from 9:00 AM til 5:00 PM. It is closed on Mondays. Admission cost is €2.
