For a breathtaking view, head to the heights -the top of Monte Ossoni will give you a wide panorama. Located inland from Castelsardo and Ciaccia, the uplift also presents a nice walk for those who enjoy a day outdoors, and some intriguing archeological scenes, too.

From Ciaccia up to the top it is about a 10 kilometer hike; shorter if you drive to the base and walk up from there. The dirt track also permits cars to pass. Located off the Castelsardo-Santa Teresa Gallura road, it is an unmarked turn-off, so consult your map or ask your host before setting out.

The dirt road winds up to the top of the low mountain, where you will pass megalithic wall remains, and the ruins of a ancient watch tower. Up at the peak is a natural terrace with sweeping views of the landscape and the Gulf of Asinara below. Stunning!

After, stop in at the Ristorante Pecora Nera on the main road for a typical Sardinian meal.
