A part of the town of Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, the Marina di Cottone is the seaside village that faces the Ionian Sea. In places it is backed by eucalyptus and is served by a shuttle bus from the centro of Fiumefreddo in the summer months.

There is not a town center, everything is on the beach in the form of bars, restaurants, and snacks within the lido establishments. Other shops and services are found in Fiumefreddo, or Fondachello.

In the vicinity is the Castello degli Schiavi, a lovely location that was featured in films like the Godfather, which is privately owned and used for special events though visits can be organized. The nature reserve of the Fiumefreddo River is a really nice park along the river with paths, plants, little bridges over the stream, and pretty ambiance all around.
