Lido di Noto
Lido di Noto is, as the name suggests, the beach of Noto. Located five kilometers from the splendid Baroque city of Noto itself, this younger sunny sister was built in the 1930s specifically as a beach destination. They chose a good spot - calm, shallow water with a gradual decline on the seafloor make it a great choice for families. There is no lack of cafes, restaurants, pizzerias, bars and gelato here. You'll find all the services and shops of a summer resort, and plenty of water sports available for fun.
The palm-lined promenade is a nice place for a stroll that has lovely views of the Ionian Sea. The Scoglio Bianco Beach offers a different setting with chalk-white low cliffs and rocks rather than wide sandy beaches. The Riserva Naturale di Vendicari is a haven for migratory birds and there are Greek archeological remains in the area to explore, too. It was a once-important port, as evidenced by the Torre Sveva that was built in the 1400s. The beach at Cala Mosche is a nature lover's paradise, that requires a hike to reach it but will reward you with nice views, a protected swimming area and a natural setting.
