The western branch of Lake Como, 27 Km north of Como, holds the village of Lenno. It enjoys a privileged position – along the coastal stretch known as Tremezzina – surrounded by a luxuriant vegetation and washed by calm water.

Lenno is surely less crowded than other villages around the lake, it could definitely be a lovely destination for a daily tour, but also a comfortable basis for a weekend or a longer stay in Lake Como.

In Lenno is the sumptuous Villa del Balbianello, one of the greatest villas on the lake, famous for its gardens and for being the setting of one of the most memorable movie scenes ever. George Lucas chose this villa to film the Star War’s Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002).

Lenno’s promenade coasts a marvellous inlet, offering beautiful panoramic views, from Punta Balbianello to Bellagio. Just perfect for a walk, a coffee break or a meal in one of the restaurants facing the lake… so romantic!

In Piazza XI Febbraio, next to the tourist office, is the Church and Romanesque baptistery, dated back to the XI century. At the centre of the piazza is the war memorial. Lenno is one of the most decorated Italian cities for the locals’ bravery during the partisan warfare and Word War II.

Continuing southwards along the Gulf of Venere, you will access a small shingles beach where to relax taking a sunbath and, in summer, having a swim into the fresh waters of the lake.

Walking for a while into the park, you can reach Villa del Balbianello. The Villa is actually reachable also by lake, through a boat that departs from the mole beside Lido di Lenno.
