The hills of Abruzzo, where it skirts the border with Le Marche, are loaded with grapevines. This wine country between mountains and sea produces excellent vintages, and one of the most noted wineries is Illuminati. In business for 120 years, they have a solid reputation for quality. Dino Illuminati was knighted by the Italian President as a 'cavaliere di lavoro' for his contributions to the business sector and for "combining ancient practices with innovative techniques", as well as bringing DOC recognition to this part of Abruzzo.
