Hot Springs and Spa Antonimina

Just a few kilometers from Locri is a hot spring spa that has been used for millennia. Locri was an ancient Greek city, founded seven centuries BC, and even then was known for its "acque sante" (holy waters). In the 1400s it started drawing people from throughout the south looking for its curative effects, and in 1870 a medical facility was built to cater to these health-seekers.

Today, there is a modern medical complex for trauma rehabilitation and cardiology, but within the complex is also the spa and sports center. There are tennis courts, soccer fields, basketball and volleyball courts, a bocce ball court, along with dance and aerobics classes.

But it is the spa that draws visitors in search of some stress-busting relaxing in the pools and tubs of hot spring water. There are beauty treatments, mud wraps and massage therapy offered, too.

Antonimina is located below the trio of peaks known as Monte Tre Pizzi, near Locri Calabria.
