Horseback Riding Baunei

Saddle up and hit the trail for a glimpse of the wild side of Sardinia. The Horsemen's Association of Baunei offers guide trail rides that follow the old paths once used by the carbonai, the charcoal burners. In a by-gone age these mountain men constructed huge teepees of trees that burned slowly to make charcoal that would be used in homes and businesses, a slow, arduous process. These important trail networks pass rain cisterns, spring water wells, nuraghi, pastures and woodlands. The trail ride takes you through the hills and along the coast for an interesting look at the geologic and natural wonders of this part of Sardinia.
