Calozzo is a waterfront village on Lake Como that is part of Pianello del Lario. The collection of hamlets forms one comune, but it is Calozzo that sits on the lakefront. The town has Medieval origins, but became more popular in the late 1800s when tourism began to increase. The beautiful alpine lake setting and unspoiled countryside makes it a picturesque place.

Sitting at the base of Mt. Bregagno, the town hugs the shoreline. There is a nice pebble beach along with lakeside restaurants. Here you can enjoy the water activities in the summer, such as swimming, windsurfing, and sailing, while skiing is available for winter enjoyment. The marina plays host to an annual Easter regatta, a colorful way to usher in spring! There are a couple of eateries, a pizzeria, coffee bars, grocery store and bakery. A large supermarket is found just a few minutes away in Musso. To the south are some beautiful villas with gorgeous gardens that overlook Lake Como.

The church of San Martino was built in the 1500s as an abbey for the monks of St. Christopher of Como. The Renaissance era church has elaborate marble carvings and frescoes. It is dedicated to the town's patron saint, St. Martin, and the festival San Martino on November 11 is a fun one as San Martino is connected to wine making! The saying is "A San Martino tutto il mosto e' gia' vino!" (On St. Martin's Day the must is already wine, indicating the new wine made froom the autumn harvest is ready to taste.)

For a nice walk, there is a lakefront pathway that leads from Calozzo to Musso, making for a pleasant stroll on a warm day. Pathways connect the hill villages together, for those who enjoy mountain walks. Mountain biking trails are also abundant, and of course water enthusiasts have plenty of activities to choose from.

Menaggio is just ten minutes away, where you'll find more shops and restaurants along with a large supermarket. There is even a golf club in Menaggio! From the port you can catch ferries to all the towns on Lake Como, such as Bellagio, Varenna and Como itself.
