Caffe Meletti

One of Italy's historic cafes, the Caffe Meletti is a landmark on Ascoli Piceno's gorgeous Piazza del Popolo. The stalwart watering hole started out as a distillery that made the region's famous Anisetta liqueur (still produced by Meletti). Then it became an elegant coffee bar, still beloved by the Ascolani and tourists alike. Walk into the wood-decked interior and step back in time. Or sit out on the piazza at a pastel green table and watch the people parade mill around the beautiful square.

Coffee drinks, cocktails, wine and more make Meletti a good choice any time of day. Aperitivi are special here, with nice plates of snacks to accompany your spritz or prosecco. Sunday morning cappuccino with a warm pastry and a newspaper start the day off in a relaxing way. The hot chocolate with whipped cream is decadent. Lunch and light meals are served as well.
