An historic hamlet built around a castle is a magical place for a stroll and a picnic. Just outside Gaiole in Chianti is a cluster of well-kept stone buildings surrounded by olive groves and grape vines. This medieval borgo gives you a chance to step back in time to see a simple country estate that still lives on. There is a restaurant in town, but you could also pick up some local products, stroll out in the field and enjoy lunch in the shade of an olive tree looking out at that captivating Tuscan landscape.

The Castello di Ama has installed contemporary art by international artists. In the old Villa Pianigiani you can arrange for a wine tasting of the great vintages produced here, in an historic setting.
