Art and Archeology Museums Palazzo Malatestiano

In the old town of Fano a dual civic museum is set within a 15th century palace and offers a glorious glimpse of the city's art and history. The Palazzo Malatestiano was built in the first half of the 1400s by the family that the dwelling is named for. The two museums are dedicated to archeology and to art, the pinacoteca.

The art gallery holds works by Giovanni Santi, the father of renowned artist Raphael, as well as by Guido Reni, Gurcino, and local Fano brothers Bartolomeo and Pompeo Morganti, among others.

The archeology gallery displays ceramics, artifacts and fragments of the area's history and excavations, from the neolithic period to the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman era, and more.

The ticket and civic museum management includes two churches - the Santa Maria Nuova, from 1498, and San Pietro in Valle from the 1600s. Both are adorned and interesting to view.
